Kike C. Germanos

Kike C. Germanos passed away peacefully at her home of sixty years on February 17, 2024. Kike was born in Mobile, Alabama on November 2, 1939, to the late Louis and Anna Coumanis, immigrants from the island of Patmos, Greece. A graduate of Murphy High School, Kike moved to Montgomery as a newlywed after marrying George on June 18, 1961. Kike and George settled in midtown Montgomery, where Kike’s home was a gathering place for many friends and family. Later in life, Kike worked and retired from the Alabama Real Estate Commission, which ensured her outgoing personality was appreciated throughout the state. Kike was known for her generosity of spirit, love for family and unwavering faith. Kike was active in the Greek Orthodox churches in both Montgomery and Mobile. An active member of the Ladies of Philoptochos, Kike also supervised Sunday school for many years and often baked the bread for Holy Communion. A doting “Yaiyai” to both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, in recent years, video chats with the great-grandchildren were a highlight to Kike’s day. Throughout her life, Kike was a loyal and committed friend, who always answered the telephone with a certain exuberance. Her joyful greetings, and sincere farewells, will be greatly missed by many. Kike is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, George John Germanos, her daughter Anna, and her husband Michael Kontoes, her son, John Germanos, and his wife, Lynn; grandchildren Kike (Matt) Kotsianas, Spyros Kontoes (Tavishee), George and Anna Grace Germanos; great-grandchildren, John and Michael Kotsianas; and a host of devoted friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. Special appreciation is given to her caretaker of the last year, Kathy Gordon. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1721 Mt. Meigs Road, Montgomery, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial to immediately follow at Greenwood-Serenity Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Montgomery.

Anne McKinney Richardson

Anne McKinney Richardson, a resident of Montgomery for over 68 years, died on February 16, 2024 at the age of 90. A native of Jasper, Alabama, she was born to Charles Ernest McKinney, Sr. and Larimore Swindle McKinney. She attended Alabama College in Montevallo and was a former Walker County Maid of Cotton. In 1956, she moved with her husband, James Paul Richardson, to Montgomery where he worked as a pharmacist after graduating from Auburn University and serving in the Army. The couple later purchased what would become Richardson’s Pharmacy in the heart of Old Cloverdale. After Jim’s death in 1977, Anne operated the store until her retirement, expanding the selection of gifts and adding printing services. She eventually sold the property to Huntingdon College in 2017. Anne contributed to many community organizations and was an enthusiastic supporter of the arts. She was pleased to be the recipient of the 2002 Small Business in the Arts Award. She was a charter member of the Panier Society at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, active in the Montgomery Symphony League, and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her brother, Charles Ernest McKinney, Jr.; and nephew, Charles Ernest McKinney III of Nashville, TN. She is survived by her children, Susan Richardson Patton (Stuart) of Montgomery, AL and James Paul Richardson, Jr. (Susie) of Tucker, GA; grandsons, Stuart Timothy Patton (Brooke) of Auburn, AL and David Thomas Patton (Corinne) of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Stuart Timothy Patton, Jr., William Thomas Patton, Olivia Anne Patton, Thomas Wagner Patton, Elizabeth Cantey Patton; and nephew, Daniel J. McKinney (Debbie) of Franklin, TN. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 1:00-2:00pm at Leak Memory Chapel, followed by a graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery. Faye Joyce Woodham, 92, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed away February 14, 2024. Joyce was a dedicated member of Grace Pointe Church of Christ. She had a warm, welcoming home. Every Sunday, she prepared lunch for her whole family and anyone else her grandchildren wanted to invite. She was known for her service and hospitality. She enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, and baking. She possessed a quick wit and kept her family entertained. She was a faithful servant to her Lord and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, W.F. Sanders and Alma Lee Russell and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ben Earl Woodham; her children, Benjy (Liz), Angie (Rick), and Cindy (Terry); her grandchildren, Andrew, Kelsey, Haley, Jessa, Will, Zach, and Seth; and her great-grandchildren, Gavin, Hayes, Willow, Norah, and Oaks. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joyce’s memory to Agape.
