Walter R. Johnson, Jr. of Bensalem, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, at the age of 88, surrounded by his loving family at his residence. Walter was born in Philadelphia, to the late Walter R. Johnson Sr. and Ruth (Geiger) Johnson and was a resident of Bensalem for the last 30 years. Walter was a graduate of Lower Moreland High School, Class of 1953. Following his education, he embarked on a successful career in the Supermarket industry, ultimately becoming local manager for A&P Supermarkets before going on to open his own Fish & Produce stores. In what would become a recurring theme throughout his life, Walter changed course and embarked on a second career in the insurance industry at the age of 50, working diligently as a trusted Insurance Agent for over 35 years. Outside of his professional life, Walter was a man of many passions. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, indulging in activities such as boating, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, as well as games of skill. Walter was also an avid sportsman as a standout baseball pitcher, basketball player & golfer. Walter cherished his role as a devoted father and grandfather. He took great pride in his sons, Collin and Stephen, and their many accomplishments. Walter enjoyed watching his son Stephen coach the Bensalem Girls Basketball team, cheering them on with unwavering support. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 23 years, Theresa (Karpowicz) Johnson. Walter will be deeply missed by his two loving sons, Collin Johnson (Jen) and Stephen Johnson (Fiance Danielle). He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Corsanico and his granddaughters, Samantha and Lainey Johnson, and many other loving family members and friends. Walter was also preceded in death by his brother, David Johnson. Kevin M. Morris of Whiting, NJ passed away on December 4, 2023, at the age of 63. Born in Buffalo, NY, to the late Paul E. and Carol (Gawronski) Morris and was formerly of S. Toms River, NJ, Bensalem, PA and Buffalo, NY. Kevin dedicated over 15 years of his life working in the maintenance department at Crystal Lake Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Bayville, NJ. He took pride in his work, ensuring the comfort and safety of all the residents. Outside of work, Kevin had a great passion for fishing. Spending his days by the water, he found solace in the peacefulness of nature. He also had an unwavering loyalty to his favorite football team, the Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed listening to the Greatful Dead, and attended some of their concerts in his younger days. Kevin will be dearly missed by his loved ones. He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years. Beverly (Knight Bollerman) Morris, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He also leaves behind his stepchildren: Michell Merker (Scott) and Robert H. James (Jim) Hunnewell, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, peacefully passed away on December 1, 2023, in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Born on December 1, 1952, in Bath, Maine, Jim led a life filled with dedication, perseverance, and a passion for his work and helping his community. Jim's indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to excellence earned him a respected position as an engineer in the United States Army. Throughout his career, he served his country with honor and distinction, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. Jim's dedication to his profession left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of working alongside him. Jim was a member of Eddington Fire Company before entering the Army. Upon return, he joined Newportville Fire Company in 2001 and was a past president. In 2014, he moved to Croydon Fire Company where he served numerous position including Treasurer and Fire Police Lieutenant. He was a member of the Bristol Township Fire Police and a Lifetime Member of the Bucks County Fire Police Association. He held many positions throughout the years. He was also an Instructor for Bucks County Community College teaching Basic & Advance Fire Police, Traffic Incident Management and Emergency Vehicle Driver Training. Teaching was a passion that allowed him to make connections, establish relationships, and demonstrated his devotion to fellow first responders and the community. While Jim's professional accomplishments were remarkable, his true legacy lies in the love and care he bestowed upon his family. Jim was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Donna (Baus) Hunnewell, and a cherished father to his sons, Christopher (Tanya) and Brian (Heather) Hunnewell. His greatest achievement was being a Pop Pop to his dear grandchildren, Christopher and Kylie Hunnewell. Jim's unwavering love, support and ensuring their safety were constants in the lives of his family, and his memory will forever be etched in their hearts. A graveside service to honor and celebrate Jim's life will be held on December 14, 2023, at 1:30 pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, located at 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940. The ceremony will pay tribute to Jim's service in the Army, recognizing his sacrifice and devotion to his country. John M. "Sonny" Witczak, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the age of 90. Born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Helen and John A Witczak and was a resident of Bensalem for the past 58 years. Sonny was a dedicated construction worker who worked for James D Morrissey Construction for an impressive 42 years. He took great pride in his work, always giving his best effort and ensuring the success of every project he was a part of. A proud veteran of the United States Army, achieving the rank of Corporal before being honorably discharged. In his free time, Sonny found joy in tending to his lawn, taking care of his lawnmower with meticulous care. He was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to Philadelphia teams, and followed their games with passion. Watching golf tournaments was another favorite pastime of his. Sonny had a knack for word searches and would spend hours engrossed in solving them. His handheld poker game was also a constant companion, providing him with countless hours of enjoyment. Sonny leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Irene T. (Pietrowicz) Witczak. Sonny is also survived his daughters Lynn Popeck (David) and Diane Stevenson (Robert). He was also adored by his four grandchildren: Tyler (Jeanette), Andrew, Michael, and Christopher, as well as his three great-grandchildren: Thomas, Brielle, and Lilith. Florence dedicated her life to caring for others as a Nurses Aide in the healthcare industry. She was known for her gentle touch, comforting presence, and the genuine concern she showed for those in her care. Family was of paramount importance to Florence. She was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Joseph Martin, with whom she shared many joyous years. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and support. She was a graduate of Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School, Class of 1969, and her education prepared her for a life centered around love, kindness, and devotion. Joyce had a vibrant personality and a warm heart that welcomed everyone into her life. Joyce was a dedicated homemaker who found joy in caring for her family. In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She delighted in shopping for unique treasures, tending to her beautiful garden, and adding her personal touch to the decor of her home. Joyce was the family's go-to person for planning and coordinating memorable vacations and family trips. Her favorite destination was Cape May, New Jersey, where she could relax and enjoy the ocean breeze, the Poconos, where she loved the peace and quiet, and spending time in Florida every year with her family and friends. Joyce had a deep passion for sports and was an avid fan of the Washington Commanders. She enthusiastically cheered for her favorite team and even occasionally supported the Philadelphia Eagles when they were not playing against the Commanders. Family meant everything to Joyce, and she cherished the time spent with her loved ones. She will be greatly missed by her devoted husband of 52 years Joseph E. Smith. Bessie Quattrone, 85, of Bensalem, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17th,2023. Bessie was born on April 9, 1938, a daughter of the late Roxanne (nee Schoff) and William Stanley. Beloved wife of S. John Quattrone, caring mother to Bonny Rose Starzl, Rebecca Roxanne Drayer, and Anthony John Quattrone, Grandmother to Danielle Potteiger, Derek Petrangeli, Jurgen Starzl, Mark Starzl, Chelsea Quattrone, Ariel Ebaugh, Tess Pernin, Tillie Quattrone, Great Grandmother to Mason and Avery Potteiger, Keegan and Harlie Petrangeli and Hudson Ebaugh. Bessie was the only girl of 6 children, survived by her brothers Victor and Marlowe Stanley. She held her own among them and her other brothers, Charles Stanley, William, Johnny Stanley. She and her brothers were country raised in Clearfield County, PA and were country tough. After raising her 3 children she finished her nursing degree and cared for the elderly patients/residents at Pennswood Village and beyond. She was a caring, loving, faithful wife. We are eternally grateful for her love, guidance, and the care she selflessly gave to me, my sister Bonny, and little brother Anthony Pitz Quattrone. Always in our hearts and memories. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert J. Tryon, who passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023. He was 67 years old. Born in Bristol, PA to the late Mary (Whalen) and Richard Tryon and a resident of Croydon for the past 40 years and was formerly of Bensalem. Robert was a graduate of Bensalem High School, Class of 1975. He had a fulfilling career as a maintenance supervisor at Load Rite Trailers, where he dedicated over two decades of service. Outside of his professional life, Robert was well-known for his outgoing personality. He could easily strike up a conversation with strangers. He was always willing to lend a hand and had a knack for solving problems. His compassionate nature and his willingness to listen were invaluable to the people who knew and loved him. Family meant everything to Robert. He adored his beloved wife of 47 years, Kathy (Hagan)Tryon, with whom he shared a lifetime of laughter, love, and adventures. Together, they explored life and enjoyed their family. But it was in the warmth of their home that Robert found his greatest joy, surrounded by his loving daughters, Chrissy Sigmon (Jamie) and Kelly Tryon, whose lives he touched in immeasurable ways. Robert was also a loving pop-pop to Madison, Mya, and Marissa, who brought him immeasurable happiness and filled his heart with endless love and laughter.
