Wallace "Lee" Leon Kebodeaux, age 86, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Wallace was born to the late Homer and Vivian Kebodeaux on October 5, 1936, in Lake Charles, LA. He married his late wife, Willie Kebodeaux, in 1975 and remained so for 46 years until she passed. Lee enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and being around his loved ones. One of his most proud accomplishments was owning his own business, Keb's Auto Salvage. Those who knew him just called him "Mr. Keb". He was also a member of the National Guard. Lee is preceded in death by his son, David Young; son-in-law, Larry Ellender; and brother, Marvin Kebodeaux. His memory will be cherished by his children, Dennis Murray(Cindy) of Shreveport, LA, Charlotte Ellender of Sulphur, LA, and Mitch Young(Christine) of Lake Charles, LA; 9 grandchildren, Kristin LeBoeuf(Clint), Lori Young, Amy Judice(Garrett), Kimberly Ramsey (Chris), Amanda Sonnier, Nina Sonnier, Aaron Young, Stacey Booth(Heath), and Rachel Smith(Josh); 12 great-grandchildren, Grayson, Emersyn, Riley, Reid, Trinity, Nyla, Lucas, Lila, Brantley, Weston, Kristen, Maverick and Kenlee; and a sister-in-law, Nadine Kebodeaux The family will welcome the public for visitation at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 5 pm until 8 pm. Visitation will resume the following day at 9 am until time of funeral service at 10 am. Melanie Ann Grantham, age 61, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023. She was born on March 6, 1962 in Lake Charles to Harry J. Leger and Vernette Derouen Leger. Melanie was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles where she graduated from Lake Charles High School, class of 1980. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, and reading. Melanie's family and friends will always remember her for her selflessness, compassion, and willingness to put others before herself. Spending time with her grandchildren was one of the biggest joys of her life. Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Amanda Grantham; Cody Grantham and wife Jessica, and Daniel Grantham and fiance' Tara Hathaway; seven grandchildren, Gavin, Dylan, Grayson, Daschle, Bryce, Laikyn, and Ella; three brothers, Vince Leger and wife Shelly, Dalton Leger, and Thomas Leger; two sisters, Julie Collins and husband Bryant, Michelle Hoben and husband Randall; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents. The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday, December 7, 2023 beginning at 4:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:45 p. m. Genora Craven Sonnier, 81, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 4, 2023, in Lake Charles, La. Genora Ann Craven Sonnier was the eldest child born to the union of Jimmie Joseph Craven, Sr. , and Thelma Simien Craven. She was a native and lifelong resident of Mallet, LA, until illness prompted her relocation to Lake Charles. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church, where she received and celebrated all of her holy sacraments. She was a dedicated member of the Ladies Altar Society since the early 70s; which allowed her to serve her church and community through the basis and outlet of her faith. Genora lived her faith in service to others, and devoted herself to caring for her husband and mother, her children, and was also a beloved maternal figure to several of her nephews and grandchildren, all of whom were very close to her heart. "G" as she was affectionately known, was always ready to answer the call to anyone who came to her in need. In her younger years, she loved to zydeco and get together with family. She also shared her devotion to the Blessed Mother by leading and reciting rosaries for countless families in Mallet, Lawtell, and Eunice area. G is survived by her two sons, Corey Sonnier of Eunice, LA and Chris Sonnier of Eunice, LA; grandchildren Brennan Sonnier, Brittany Sonnier Washington, Ray Chapman, Kim Nguyen, Antonio Nguyen, and Ricardo Nguyen; one brother Jimmie Craven, Jr. (the late Dianne Guillory Craven) of Lake Charles, LA; three sisters JoAnn Fontenot (Marcus) of Lake Charles, Phyllis Broussard (Ernest) of Lake Charles, and Annette Ardoin (the late Joseph Ardoin) of Sugarland, Tx; brother-in-law Antonio Rene of College Station, Tx; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Genora was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie Craven, Sr. , and Thelma Craven; her beloved husband, Whitley Sonnier; her eldest son, Mario Sonnier; two sisters, Maxine Kerlegon Perez and Carmelita Rene; and one brother, Gerald Craven (the late Gene Sonnier Craven); among numerous other relatives and in-laws. The Sonnier family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Annette Ardoin for the care and attention provided to her sister over the years, as well as Kevin Johnwell for his friendship and support in this most difficult time. The family would also like to thank the kind and compassionate staff of Resthaven Nursing Home and Brighton Bridge Hospice for the incredible care shown to Genora over the years. Zachary Hudson Mayo, age 57, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Zachary, known to his friends and family as Zach, was born November 15, 1966, in Lake Charles to Bradford Mayo and Diane Vodrey Mayo. Zach graduated from St. Louis Catholic High School in 1985 and from Centenary College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education where he ran cross-country. Zach later pursued a master's degree in world missions and evangelism from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. He served with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church in the Appalachian Service Project in Kentucky and later in the New Mexico Mission School. In Khaborovsk, Russia, Zach served as a member of the Mission Society's Co-Mission Team as a US-2 Missionary. One-on-one evangelism was a passion for Zach and one of the places he ministered was on the streets of Austria. In 1980 Zach achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. Zach was a very private person and over the years he wrote songs and poetry about his life which he shared with only a select few. One place he was most happy was with his black lab, Sammy. Zach was preceded in death by his father, Bradford Mayo. Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Diana Vodrey, stepmother, Ann Mayo, brothers Thaddeus and Joshua, sisters, Stephanie Starkovich and Mariah Fine, and seven nieces and nephews. Sheila Margaret MacKay, age 85, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Sheila was born on December 12, 1937 in Port Washington, Long Island, New York. Sheila graduated from Valpariso University in Valpariso, Indiana with a degree in English & Mathematics. She worked 40 years at Harcourt, Brace & Jovanovich in the Academic Press division and later for Elsevier which bought HBJ, New York City & San Diego, CA. Sheila loved to read and was a world traveler. She traveled every continent and over 100 countries. She said, "I was willing to go anywhere. . . with a trunk. I was always interested in other places since I was a youngster. " Sheila was a member of the San Diego Masterworks Chorale, Garden Club, Enterprise Club, and The Book Club all of Lake Charles. She was preceded in death by her parents, William John MacKay and Margaret Duncan MacKay, and two sisters, Eleanor Prillaman and Isabel Perinka. Those left to cherish his memory are her sisters, Ann MacKay Eisen of Lake Charles and Margaret MacKay Belardo (Pre') of Newark, DE; nieces and nephews, Eric Eisen, Peter Eisen (Ashley), Bruce Eisen (Kristie), Barbara Prillaman (Francisco), Brenda Prillaman, Rob Perinka (Lisa), Christy Belardo and Sean Belardo; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. Kinder-Christopher John Sikes 34, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, at a local hospital. Private memorial services and an inurnment in his honor will be hosted by his family at a future date. All of Christopher's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. Christopher was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved to spend time with his family and cherished every moment he spent with them. He was a hard worker and worked in the hospitality industry. He loved and adored his dog Sunshine whom he treated like a child. Christopher was fun and outgoing and enjoyed "hanging out" with friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his nephew Tucker. Christopher was a kind and caring person, he be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew him.
