Vonda Lee Varner, 69 years of Angola, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, in her residence. Vonda was born July 10, 1954, in Angola, the daughter of the late William A. and Joanna G. (Whitcomb) Varner. She was a 1972 graduate of Angola High School. Vonda was a Billing Clerk and Dispatcher for Consolidated Freightways for 15 years. Prior to this, she engaged in the banking industry working at First National Bank in Angola and from First National Bank of Fremont. She attended Fairview Missionary Church. Vonda was an avid reader. She also enjoyed crafting, knitting, watching movies and playing the piano. Surviving are her two sisters, Valerie Varner of Angola, Indiana, and Melanie Varner of Ashley, Indiana; one aunt, Susie (Gary) Manahan of Angola, Indiana; one uncle, Steve Whitcomb of Angola, Indiana, along with several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and two uncles Rex Whitcomb and Cecil Whitcomb. There will be no visitation or services at this time. Interment will be made in Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 3985 East Church Street, Hamilton. William E. "Bill" Patterson, Jr. , 92, of Angola, Indiana, passed away at home on Monday, November 27, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on August 26, 1931, in Corunna, Indiana, to the late William E. Sr. and Catherine N. (Fair) Patterson. Bill graduated from Waterloo High School in 1949 and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Tri-State University, Angola, Indiana. Bill was very proud to serve his country in the United States Marine Corp. He served in the military for three years, including one of those years on the front lines during the Korean War. Bill married the love of his life, Marjorie J. "Marg" Gerber on December 25, 1955. He retired from Dana Weatherhead in Angola, Indiana, where he was the Plant Controller. Bill was a member of the Angola United Methodist Church. He was a devoted member of the Steuben County YMCA. Bill enjoyed running and participated in several marathons, 5 K and 10 K races in his lifetime. Surviving is his loving wife of 67 years, Marjorie J. "Marg" Patterson of Angola, Indiana; sons, W. Michael (Cheryl) Patterson of Fishers, Indiana and Mark E. (Kristine) Patterson of Austin, Texas; siblings, David D. Patterson, Angola, Indiana, Patrick E. (Cheryll) Patterson of Columbia City, Indiana, Patricia E. (Dale) Myers of Auburndale, Florida and Philip L. (Sharon) Patterson of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Also surviving are his four beloved grandchildren, Alexander M. (Tasha) Patterson, Andrea M. Patterson, Tyler A. (Casey) Patterson and Lauren N. Patterson. Memorial services will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana with Rev. Tim Terrell officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon on Saturday, December 9, 2023, prior to the service at the funeral home. Military Honors by the Angola American Legion Post 31 and the United States Marine Corp. Honor Guard will be immediately following the funeral services at the funeral home. Rylan W. Grimes, age 16, of Fremont, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital, Angola, Indiana. He was born on September 5, 2007 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Rylan was a sophomore at Angola High School. He loved to fish, loved to be with his friends, enjoyed hunting, being outside, collecting knives, listening to music, working out, playing baseball and football. He was a big Chicago Bears fan, he loved his family, and his little brother was his best friend. Rylan was a very generous soul and had a soft heart for the elderly and babies. Miriam Lois (Sielken) Cook, 81, of Angola, IN, was welcomed to her eternal Home into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. She was born to the late Rev. Marvin F. and Verna M. (Papenfus) Sielken on July 25, 1942, in Toledo, OH. Miriam graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1960. She married her best friend and the love of her life the late Jack Dale Cook on December 9, 1961, in Hillsdale, MI. Music was Miriam's passion and she was an exceptional organist for over 60 years. She brought music to life for those she played for, and people would comment that they couldn't believe how someone so small could play so powerfully. She most recently was the organist at Peace Lutheran Church, Fremont. Miriam was very active at church, involved in many activities and served passionately as a Stephen Minister. Miriam built a legacy of loving and serving God, loving and serving others her entire life. She taught this servant leadership through leading by example. Miriam demonstrated God's love by caring for others in her gentle and humble spirit and was always helping those in need. Miriam was the most generous giver. She gave, and she gave, and she gave some more. Even when she was sick, she was always praying for others, putting their needs before her own. She always counted her blessings and focused on the good. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and caring grandmother. She was fun to be around and whenever you spent time with her, you left feeling better about yourself, those around you and life in general. Miriam is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Daryl) Berndt and Jodie (Joe) Burelison both of Angola; grandchildren, Austin Young, Jeremy (Shelby) Young, Megan (Owen) Shoup, Brandon (Laura) Burelison and Dylan (Dakota) Burelison; great-grandchildren, Jack Young (namesake of Miriam's late husband), Liam, Jase, & Evan Burelison, Delaney, Archer, and Maddyn Burelison; and sister, Karen Weesner of Colorado Springs. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruthann Sielken. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Peace Lutheran Church, Fremont, with Rev. Kyra Renee (Onofrietti) McVicker, 37, of Angola, Indiana passed suddenly at 12:19 pm, on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at Parkview Heart Institute in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She was born Nov. 11, 1985, in Angola, Indiana to Becky (Lancaster) Preston and Ric Onofrietti. She attended Prairie Heights Community Schools and graduated in 2005. Kyra married the love of her life, Scott E. McVicker Sept. 1, 2007. Together they have 2 beautiful children, Rebecca K. McVicker, 12, and Logan S. McVicker, 6. She held employment at several establishments over the years until her health no longer allowed. Kyra made friends easily and was known for her unexpected wit and caring nature. She loved her children, husband, family, and friends fiercely. Kyra endured the hardships in her life with grace and a tireless resolve. Kyra was predeceased in death by her mother-in-law Laura McVicker, maternal grandparents Gloria and William Lancaster; paternal grandparents Louise Cram, Carolyn Onofrietti and Richard Onofrietti; grandparents-in-law David and Betty McVicker and Ron and Dolores Shoffer, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Scott McVicker and their children, Rebecca and Logan McVicker of Angola, IN; parents Scott and Becky Preston of Angola, IN; Ric Onofrietti of Coldwater, MI; stepmother Janet (Mark) Dale of Osseo, MI; father-in-law Don McVicker of Quincy, MI; sister Danielle (Jeff) Morrissette of Fremont, IN; brothers Devin (Natalie) Onofrietti of Horizon City, TX; Brian (Victoria) Preston of Angola, IN; Derek (Jen) Pietarila-Braun of Schaumburg, IL, Jonathan (Kayla) Braun of Angola, IN, sister-in-law Holly (Steve) McVicker of Kokomo, IN; nieces and nephews Amelia Morrissette, Ryan, Mason, Kaleb, and Camden Onofrietti, Oaklynn and Olivia Preston, Oliver and LJ McVicker and grandparents Lee and Pat Preston, Judy Preston and Joel Cram; and many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
