Vivian Pamela White, beloved daughter of the late Pauline Pitts White and Roy Pinkett, Jr. was born on June 11, 1953, in Salisbury, Maryland. She departed this life on September 27, 2023, at her residence in Portsmouth, Virginia. "Pam," as she was affectionately known, was educated in the Accomack County Public School system. She graduated from Parksley High School in 1971. She attended college at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio and received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. As a child, she attended Dea's Chapel United Methodist Church in Horntown, Virginia. She later relocated to Stamford, Connecticut, where she met and married Bobby Garrett. From this union they were blessed with two sons. Pam was an avid reader; she loved to read all types of books, articles, or anything containing information that interested her. She was a strong believer of living a healthy lifestyle. Pam was always giving advice on different type of herbs, vitamins, tea, anything that was of a natural remedy. Her faith was also very strong; you could always find a note, scripture, and a self-word of encouragement anywhere around her home. Pam loved to travel, and she loved her family. She often traveled from wherever she was to Connecticut to see her family, and along the way, she made sure to stop and visit family and friends along the route. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, William J. White; maternal grandparents, Clara Marshall and Bernie Johnson; paternal grandparents, Veda and Roy Pinkett, Sr. ; three brothers, Sewell Handy, Jr. , Joel White, and Norman "Sonny" Pinkett; aunts, Dorothy Poulson and Vivian Brooks; and uncles, Calvin Johnson and Winfield Johnson. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her sons, J-Von Garrett and Chad D-Von Garrett; stepson, Darry Garrett (Lynn); five sisters, Robbin "Vickie" White-Handy, Kimberly White, Jacqueline White, Romanada Pinkett-Green, and Ruby Pinkett-Bishop; two brothers, Deacon Morris "Pat" Handy (Eunice), Pastor Bobby White (Akilah); two aunts, Mabel L. CHESAPEAKE- Roy Eldon McCollum joined his heavenly father and loved ones on November 29, 2023. He was born November 19, 1946, in McKinney, Texas, and celebrated his 77th birthday ten days before. Roy was a devoted member of Westhaven Baptist Church and held many positions over the years, including boys' class teacher, committee member, coordinator of ministry, chairman of the deacons, and multimedia team chairman. Roy and Joy were the first couple married in the existing sanctuary in 1967. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joy Manly McCollum, two children, Tracey (Chris) and Troy (Crystal) & 4 grandchildren, Dylan, Crystiana, Preston, and Carson. Roy served four years as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, earning National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He fought 13 months on the front line in the Vietnam War as a 0341 Mortarman. He retired from Supship Newport News as Director of Data Processing for 24 years. During his final years as director, he opened and operated MCS Computers for 28 years. Services will be held Monday, December 4, at Sturtevant Funeral Home Portsmouth Blvd, VA, at 11:00 am. There will be a visitation at 10:00 am before the service. Burial will be held in Olive Branch Cemetery following the service. Rev. Ron Lee & John King will officiate. Paulette Bridgette Lee, age 59, of Portsmouth, VA, gracefully departed this world on Sunday, November 26th, surrounded by the unwavering love of her devoted husband, Ron. Born on July 17, 1964 in Princess Margaret Hospital, Nassau, Bahamas, Paulette graced the world with her presence as the cherished daughter of Jethro and Minerva Finley. From early in her childhood, her special spirit and compassionate nature shone brightly. Her deep affection for her grandmother, fondly known as "Ma Harriett", led her to move to Long Island, Bahamas to be with her. There she attended Mooresville Primary School. Upon returning to Nassau, Paulette completed her high school studies at St Anne's High School. From there she went on to further her education at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. After arriving in Virginia, Paulette graduated with honors, from the dental assistance program at Old Dominion University in Norfolk. She spent over 20 years in the dental industry, most of it as head dental assistant at the Foleck Center, where she retired in 2021. Paulette became well known, loved and respected in the Hampton Road, Virginia dental community. Paulette met her future soulmate, Ronald, through his cousin Toxie Ricks in 2001. In 2004, they married in a lavish wedding ceremony in Las Vegas, NV and enjoyed and flourished in a 19-year union. During quiet times, Paulette enjoyed watching her favorite players play tennis. It was nothing for her to set the alarm for early morning matches she was eager to see. Also, Paulette was fascinated with real life murder mysteries that would appear on Dateline NBC or the Investigation Discovery channel. After retirement, she would spend time making beaded costume jewelry. In addition to her husband Ronald, Paulette leaves behind to cherish her memory brothers Chesley (Debbie) and Patrick Finley. She was a special aunt to Delicia, Patrick and Jayden Finley, all of Nassau. And a special aunt to Fatimah (Darius), Khadijah, Josh and Thomas, all of Philadelphia, PA. Paulette also enjoyed special bonds with her sister-in-laws, Denise Finley of Nassau, Crystal Dill of Beaumont TX, Lisa Corbin and Kelly Lee, both of Philadelphia, PA. Most importantly, she leaves behind a long list of loving uncles, aunts, cousins and childhood lifelong friends from the beautiful Islands of the Bahamas. Paulette is now reunited in eternity with her parents Jethro and Minerva Finley, her siblings, Pedro and Prescola Finley, and other loved ones who preceded her. Middleburg, FL--Miriam "Mia" Genevieve Gallagher Brady, 87 passed away November 21, 2023 at Ascension St Vincent's in Clay County, Middleburg, Florida. Our beautiful Momma succumbed to a brief but brave battle with cancer. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia, the fourth daughter of Patrick Benedict & Cornelia Catherine Cullen Gallagher. Mia attended Woodrow Wilson High in Portsmouth. She met and married Lt. John H. Brady, Jr. , and they began their life together with a tour of NAS Pensacola, where John attended NASC, followed by tours in Georgia; Virginia; Washington, D. C. ; and, best of all, two tours to London, England. The highlight of supporting her husband in his 30-year Naval Aviation Career was living in the United Kingdom, where they formed many lasting friendships. John's retirement as Commander was held at their home "Millhouse" on the River Thames in Buckinghamshire. They loved to entertain and travel and took their children on many trips throughout Europe. Mia had a fondness for decorating, art, and painting; she particularly loved exploring the gardens and historical places in England, especially churches. She completed many brass rubbings, including several at Westminster Abbey. She was always involved in each of her children's clubs: the Brownies, Girl Scouts, ballet, baseball and theater. She was President of VS-27 Officer's Wives Club, President Lionellas Club, Member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Orange Park Woman's Club, and Founding Member of Orange Park Country Club. Mia was a character until the end, fondly referred to as a firecracker by many who knew her; she lived life with a joie de vivre and kept her Irish spirit as her guiding force. We will miss her more than we can fathom, but her spirit lives on in us all. She sure did make a lasting impression on all who met her. In addition to her parents, Mia is predeceased by her husband of over 40 years, John, and her sisters Ellen, Catherine and Cecelia. She is survived by her children Theresa, Tanya, Miriam (Bob), and John; her loving and devoted nieces Madalyn, Catherine, Rita, Thais and Jane; her beloved grandchildren, Robert, Colby, Elizabeth, Catie & Caroline; and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Zachary and Emilia. A Funeral Mass was celebrated November 28 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Orange Park, FL. A graveside service will take place 11:00 a. m. Kenneth "Kenny" Neal gained his wings quietly at home in Adelphi, MD on November 17, 2023. He was born on August 8, 1964, to Louise O. Neal and Charlie W. Neal in Portsmouth, VA. He was a proud Cradock High School alumnus. Much like many teenagers at the time, he bounced around from job to job. His first job was with PET Milk Company and then he transferred to Food Lion as a Butcher Trainee. He was a long-time Portsmouth native until eventually moving to Northern VA shortly after graduation. After relocating, he began employment with W. W. Grainger, Inc, a supply chain management corporation. This is the job that started his career and sparked his interest in Logistics. He stayed there for 11 years, learning new skills while increasing his expertise. With a deeper understanding and elevated career goals, he transitioned to Raytheon, Inc and began working as a Production Operations Specialist. He quickly moved up the chain, ultimately earning a position as an E-Systems Technician. His career flourished; he was proud of the 15 years he spent at Raytheon, Inc. He ended his career as a Federal Government Contractor for FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Washington, DC. Some would say this was the highlight of his career because he traveled 60% of the time but truly, he enjoyed each one of his jobs. Throughout his career he met lifelong friends from all walks of life, shared endless laughs and told funny stories that only those who were there could understand. He lived a full life and did things his way. He never let anyone change his mind, especially when it came to football. He was very proud to be a die-hard Dallas Cowboys Fan. As a child he played little league football but soon discovered he liked watching it more. This was his #1 hobby. He faithfully watched every Cowboys game. Whenever they played; he was glued to the tv. We all knew not to call him during the game. Kenny is survived by his mother Louise O. Neal and father Charlie W. Neal. George Allen Majette Sr. , gained his wings and went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 18, 2023. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great-grandfather, and friend. George was born in Driver, VA (now Suffolk, VA) on September 29, 1933, to the late Allen and Marie Majette. He was their only child that they spoiled and were very proud to be his parents. George was reared in a Christian home where he was a Tabernacle Baptist Church Suffolk, VA, member with his parents. He often visited churches in the area with his children before he devoured his time at Solid Rock Baptist Church with his son, the late Gerald Majette. George was a graduate of East Suffolk High School. After graduating high school, he married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Estella Daniels. They were blessed parents of seven children. He was a great provider and enjoyed many family trips to NYC, Florida, and Niagara Falls, among other vacations. Mr. Majette, as he was affectionately known, worked at Ford Company for 32 years until his retirement in 2007. After retirement, he continued his love of working with car auctions, family time, crabbing, and cheering on his Steelers. George lived his life full of love for all. It's the only way he knew how. George was predeceased by his parents, Allen and Marie Majette; daughter, Sharlene Majette; sons: George Majette Jr, Garvyn Majette, and Gerald Majette; grandson: Stevie Wright; granddaughter: Jasmyne Adams; great-grandson: Jaylin Stukes.
