Vivian Margaret Gaddy was born on June 28th, 1932 to (the late) Samuel Saylor and Pansy Amaker Saylor in North, South Carolina. Vivian graduated from John Ford High School in St. Matthews, South Carolina. In her early twenties, Vivian moved with her family to New York City where she met Alfonza Gaddy. She and Alfonza were married on November 9th, 1959. From their union, she had two sons: Michael Gaddy and Tyrone Gaddy. For many years, Vivian worked at Farragut Day Care Center where she so fittingly became the Head Cook in the kitchen. She was a great cook and spent much of her free time preparing meals for her family. She would host an annual New Year's Day dinner for many, many years. This family tradition started with Thanksgiving at her beloved twin sister's house, followed by Christmas hosted by her first cousins, then Vivian would hold New Year's Day dinner. Cooking for her family was just one of the ways that Vivian showed her love. Vivian was known for her sweet disposition, greeting everyone with a smile. One of her famous sayings was "I love everybody". On Saturday, April 8th, 2023, Vivian Gaddy departed this life. We are sure she was greeted by her twin sister & best friend, Lillian who preceded her in death. Although the family is sad to see her go, we are so grateful for the 90 years of life she spent here on earth. Vivian leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of almost 63 years Alfonza Gaddy; her sons: Michael Gaddy (and his wife Nicoli) and Tyrone Gaddy; her brother Samuel Saylor, Jr. ; her grandchildren: Tymeek Gaddy, Tyreek Gaddy, Tyrell Gaddy, Tyrone Gaddy, Jr. , Monifah Gaddy, Michael N. Gaddy, Jr. , and Shameeka Legall; eight great-grandchildren, three first cousins, two nephews, great-nieces and -nephews including Kemba and Adama whom she was very close to; and a host of other relatives and friends.
