Mrs. Vivian Joyce Calimer, 93, of Waynesboro, PA, also known as, Mom, Joyce, Vivi, Grammy, Grammy Calimer, and Great Grammy, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022 in Providence Place, Chambersburg, PA. Born September 26, 1928 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Sara (Heefner) McCarney. She was a lifelong resident of Waynesboro, graduating from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1946. She married Howard E. "Junior" Calimer June 22, 1947 in Waynesboro. They were married 57 years when he passed away, February 6, 2005. She was a member of the National AARP. In her younger days, she worked for Frick Co. , Waynesboro Country Club, Wolff and McKown, and for the Waynesboro area School District, at Fairview Elementary School, where she was active in the PTA, and served as President. Joyce continued working as a house wife, mother, and watched many of her grandchildren, and still found time to do volunteer work for many organizations in the area. Joyce was an avid reader. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and music. She is survived by her daughters: Carole (Harold) Carbaugh, Mercersburg, Kathy (Mike) Soderberg, Janesville, WI, Nancy (Jim) Kirkpatrick, Cascade, MD, Sharon (Mike) McGough, Hagerstown, MD, Rhonda (John) Minchhoff, Orwigsburg, PA, Melanie (Tom) Gozora, Williamsport, MD; 11 grandchildren: Shay Bitner Carbaugh, Michele Soderberg Brown, Jenny Soderberg Yeadon, Levon Kirkpatrick, Aaron Kirkpatrick, Megan McGough Christian, Cailin McGough, Amanda Shank Dunn, Josh Shank, Ben Gozora, Liz Gozora; 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way; a large number of nieces and nephews, and a special niece, Pam Ray. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Lois Kay Calimer, sister, Helen Rosalie Piper Saurbier, two brothers, William "Bill" McCarney and Earle "Spanky" McCarney. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Friday, June 24, 2022 in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, with Chaplain Adam Leeper officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. on Thursday, June 23rd at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. Waynesboro.
