Virginia Dare Lawhorn, 91, of Mascot, TN peacefully entered the glorious gates of Heaven on Sunday, October 1, 2023, surrounded with love. Erline Virginia Dare Koon was born at home in the community of Ebenezer in Knoxville, Tennessee on July 25, 1932, to Samuel A. Koon and Beatrice (Combs) Koon. Erline, as she was called at the time, was the youngest of six children. When Erlene began school, she commonly became referred to as Virginia. At the age of 14 a school friend introduced Virginia to her cousin Marion Lawhorn who was to become the love of her life. On December 1, 1950, Marion's 21st birthday, Virginia and Marion were married, before he entered the Army and while she was a Senior at Farragut High School. Virginia attended Knoxville Business College and received a degree in Accounting, which she used in various jobs retiring from the office of J. Archie Nichols, CPA in 1997. She raised her family with loving care, while taking care of her parents and siblings. She was a Cub Scout den mother, and active member of the Blue Grass PTA where she worked yearly on award winning Christmas floats. Her home was a place where friends and neighbors were always welcome, sometimes into the wee hours playing badminton in the front yard or the huge bonfires in the Autumn. She greatly loved birds and flowers and spent endless hours working in her many flower and vegetable gardens. Virginia exemplified serving God faithfully to her family, belonging to Ebenezer United Methodist Church and later First Church of God. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed entertaining her Senior Saints group and her extended family. Her family was her greatest joy. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 72 years Marion E. Lawhorn, brothers Troy Koon, William Stanley and Andrew Koon, sisters Bernice Koon, Mohee Stanley, and granddaughter Keisha Dare Blake Williams. She is survived by her three children, Julia L. Grisham, David E. Lawhorn and Lisa A. Leach (David); sister in law, Maxine L. Ferguson and brother in law, Rufus A. Lawhorn along with several nieces and nephews; six granddaughters, Virginia Melton (Randy), Stephannie Coyle, Chesia Cunniff (PJ), Michelle Spradlin, Jennifer Proffitt (Tyson) and Kristy Leach (Todd); great-grandchildren, Kiley Spradlin, Hunter and Kaitlyn Williams, Victoria and Presley Melton, Tripp and Charlotte Coyle, Kinsley and Knox Cunniff, Bronson, Jasper and Gunner Leach. Granny 'honhorn' Lawhorn will be greatly missed by her loving family. Family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of LaFollette Court Assisted Living facility, Amedisys and Kristy Leach for their compassionate, loving care. A visitation will be held for Virginia on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 1pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 2pm. Cheryl Jarnagin Crye, 64, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, December 4, 2023, after a three-year battle with breast cancer. Born September 14, 1959, to Kenneth and Fontella Jarnagin in Knoxville, TN. Preceded in death by her parents and infant sister Elaine. Survived by her children; Todd Turner (Tara) and Natalie Helton (Zach), grandchildren; Liam and Lukas Turner, Anderson, Everly, and Beckett Helton; sister, Traci Rhea (Scott); nieces, Sarah Calkin (Derrick) and Meredith Huffaker (Josh) and multiple great nieces and nephews. Cheryl was a devoted member of Sharon Baptist Church in Powell, TN. She dedicated her career to the healthcare field and formed many great friendships through her work. Additionally, Cheryl was an active participant in Akima Club, where she enjoyed volunteering and serving others, even during times when she was the one in need of care. Despite facing difficult days, she always had others in mind and was eager to help them. Cheryl's unwavering positivity inspired others. She never complained or questioned her life, instead asking "why not me?" She showed tremendous bravery and battled courageously until the very end. Visit with Cheryl’s family at Sharon Baptist Church (7916 Pedigo Rd) from 5-7 PM on Monday, December 11, 2023, followed by a celebration of life. Audrey Leverne Booth White, age 91, beloved wife and mother, went home to be with Jesus on Friday morning, December 8, 2023. Her caring family was by her side as she peacefully departed this life. Audrey was born on December 7, 1932 in New Orleans to the late Douglas and Julia Booth. She grew up in the city where she met and married the love of her life, Mr. Jewel J. White. Later they had two children, daughter, Alice and son, J. Johnny Jr. Together the whole family was instrumental in creating and nurturing the music ministry of the Word of Faith Temple, eventually building it into a full-fledged orchestra. After graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Audrey had a successful career as a medical technologist as both Baptist Hospital and Charity Hospital of New Orleans. Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel Johnny White Sr. , her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Booth and niece, Jewel Ivy Buckner. Audrey is survived by one daughter, Alice Swenson and husband, James; one son, Dr. J. Johnny White and wife Dr. Judith White; one grandson, James D. White and one granddaughter, Julianne White; brother-in-law, Logan White, children Linda, Sarah and Marianne and sister-in-law, Bessie Buckner, children, Eddie, Mary and Nola and niece, Georgia May Kent. Mrs. Frances Irene Miller Brown, age 84, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Thursday (December 7, 2023) in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born September 12, 1939 in Swords Creek, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Hobert Lee and Mary Sue Griffith Miller. A lifelong resident of the area, she enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertie Helen Dye and Lois Ann Miller, and one granddaughter, April Lynn Brown. Survivors include her husband of sixty-seven years, Charlie Mack Brown; four children, Pam Combs and husband, Robert, John Brown, Deborah Miller, and Joe Brown; four grandchildren, Sarah Duncan and husband, Bradley, Bobby Combs and Robert Crabtree, Jamie Smith and husband, Derek, and Samantha Richardson and husband, Tim; great-grandchildren, Morgan Smith, Austin Brown, Blake Crabtree, Braden Crabtree, Sienna Crabtree, Zachary Duncan, and Brady Duncan; two step-great-grandchildren, Cassidy Shortridge and Bailey Duncan; two siblings, Mack Arthur Miller and Betty Ruth Dye; special friends, Wilma Keen, Stanley Keen, and Linda and Toots Brown; several nieces and nephews also survive. David A. Holt of Knoxville, TN, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on December 1, 2023 at 71 yrs old. David fell asleep peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. As a young man David was proudly a lifeguard, Eagle Scout & graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan University, Rocky Mount, NC with a BA Business Administration. When Brian, his only son, joined the AYSO Soccer League as a young boy, David was hooked & enjoyed being a soccer referee for 30+ years. David had a wide array of interest in boating at Norris Lake, astronomy, birds, music, TN football, and last, but definitely not least, he had a love of Marvel movies. David enjoyed travel, was always up for a road trip and ready for an adventure. He was the kindest man with a wonderful sense of humor. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. We have been blessed by the love, kindness & support from family, friends, neighbors and members of the National Agents Alliance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Waunita & Robert W. Suresh Kumar Acharya, age 68, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away at home of natural causes on November 30, 2023. Affectionately referred to as "S. K. " by his doting wife of 41 years, he spent his last breaths by her side as he passed. Born in Odisha to the late Keshab Chandra and Khira Lata Acharya. He attended medical school in India and emigrated to the U. S. in 1983. As a man deeply rooted in his culture and Hindu faith, he ensured the values and principles of his household were guided by his traditional beliefs. Suresh regarded his role as a physician as a high honor and deeply felt this was an important aspect of his being. He practiced as an internal medicine physician in Tennessee until the age of 65, at which time he retired due to health complications in 2020. If not for his health issues, there is no doubt he would have been practicing until the day he passed away. Since his retirement from medicine, he had learned to truly enjoy the best parts of life, including the company of loved ones, gardening, further connecting with his faith, sitting on his porch listening to mantras, babysitting his grand dogs and becoming a grandfather. Suresh is survived by his wife, Rashmi, his son, Rajesh, his daughter, Suneeta (Joseph Selby), and his cherished granddaughter, Sahana Selby. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at West Harpeth Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee from 9:00 a. m. to 12:00 p. m. Emily "Carol" Guy Robbins of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on November 30, 2023, at the age of 79. Born on October 18, 1944, at Smyrna Army Field Hospital in Smyrna, Tennessee, she was the only child of Edgar William and Margaret Louise (nee Finch) Guy. Raised in a military family, she would live in 6 different states graduating from Limestone Highschool in Limestone, Maine. It was there that she was crowned Miss Flame 1961. She attended Huntingdon College where she would meet and marry her college sweetheart. Together they would travel the world, living in 12 locations to include 13 years in Germany before retiring to Knoxville, Tennessee in 2001. She spent the last 13 years of her career as an Executive Assistant at the U. S. Army Center of Military History at Fort McNair in Washington D. C. receiving several commendations for outstanding performance. Carol was a loving mom to four children. She was a great cook and loved to entertain. Her creativity was always on display through her cooking, crafting, sewing and artwork. She was an avid volunteer in scouting, schools, and the community. She was an active member of the German-American Women's Club Heidelberg (DAFC) from 1983-1991. She belonged to the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution for over sixteen years being active in the Emory Road Chapter (Knoxville) and the Andrew Bogle Chapter (Knoxville), where she spent the bulk of her time. She served in many roles including Vice Regent and Regent. She also served in the Tennessee Daughters of the American Revolution as the State Chair of the Seimes Technology Center from 2007-2010. She was a member of The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. She enjoyed being a NCAA track & field official with her husband. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband of 53 years, Christopher L. Robbins. She is survived by her son Matthew (Teresa) of Knoxville, daughters Suzanne (Michael) McDonald of Gainesville, Florida, Christine (Stephen) Murray of Alexandria, Virginia and Elizabeth (David) Robinson of Southern Pines, North Carolina, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers who supported her in her final years. Special Thank You to Jacqueline Huling. The family will receive friends and family on December 20, 2023, at 10am at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
