Virginia Lucille West Carroll, age 93, of Bremen passed peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, October 6, 2023. She was born on March 12, 1930, to Homer Cleveland West and Inez Barr West in Roopville, Ga. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of over seventy years, Wendell Eugene Carroll, daughter Karla Leigh Carroll, brother Jimmy Truman West, granddaughter Julie Carden Morrow, and son-in-law Robert William Smith. She was a member of First Baptist Church Bremen since the early 1950's, where she was active in the music, children, and senior adult ministries for many years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Kaye Carroll Smith of Bremen, sons Ken (Tracey) Carroll, Keith (Kim) Carroll, and Kelley (Jill) Carroll all of Carrollton. Also, her grandchildren Leesa (Wayne) Jiles of Carrollton, Shane (Tracy) Carden of Dallas, Ga, Kendall (Erin) Carroll of Bishop, Ga, Benjamin (Margaret) Carroll of Charlotte, NC, Sarah (Colby) Houser of Carrollton, Adam Carroll of Birmingham, and Allison Carroll and Andrew Carroll of Athens. In addition, Virginia adored her fourteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren that loved her dearly. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church Bremen on Monday, October 9th at 2:00 PM with Dr. Hunter Roe officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until the funeral hour. Interment will immediately follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Bremen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Bremen music ministry. Pallbearers will be Shane Carden, Kendall Carroll, Benjamin Carroll, Adam Carroll, Andrew Carroll, Case Jiles, and Wayne Jiles. Funeral services for Barbara Lynn Herren Braswell, age 70, of Waco, Georgia, will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM EST at Herren's Grove Baptist Church in Woodland, Alabama, with Rev. Ricky Shirley, Keith Webb, and Randy Kittle officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM EST on Sunday, December 10, 2023. Mrs. Braswell will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Monday. Mrs. Braswell passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Higgins General Hospital in Bremen, Georgia. Survivors include: one daughter, Kimberly D. Richards of Waco, GA; one son, Donnie Dewayne Braswell of Temple, GA; and two sisters, Shirley Keaton of Roopville, GA, and Florence Kittle (Joe) of Temple, GA. Pallbearers will be Chris Ledbetter, Kregg Webb, Mike Herren, Rob Kittle, Ricky Morris, and Scott Knowles. Born in Bowdon, Georgia on February 6, 1953, Mrs. Braswell is the daughter of Robert G. and Leona Dye Herren of Woodland, Alabama. She was Baptist by faith and her mission in life was to put a smile on people's faces. She enjoyed her retirement years working as a manager for a gold mining operation in the North Georgia area. Mrs. Braswell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmy Duane Braswell; daughter, Stacy Michele Richards; and three sisters and two brothers. Memorials may be floral.Show more

Carol "Wynette" Smith, age 79, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023. She was born June 9, 1944, in Arlington, Georgia, the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Dykes and Sybil Laverne Cook Dykes. Mrs. Smith was the owner and operator of Aunt Nette's Daycare for many years, where she enjoyed caring for the children in her community. She was a faithful New Beginnings Church of God member for over 50 years. She will be genuinely missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James "Wendell" Smith, and brothers, Gerald Dykes and Ricky Dykes. Talon Junior Cooley, age 90, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023. He was born January 9, 1933, in Gold Ridge, Alabama, the son of the late Dallas L. Cooley and the late Karon Motes Cooley. Mr. Talon proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a Supervisor at Oxford Cleaning Services for 40 years until his retirement. He enjoyed working in his garden and seeing, as well as sharing, the fruits of his labor. He was also a woodworker, and in his spare time could be found making many treasures for others. Talon was a member of Gold Ridge Baptist Church and truly loved his community. In addition to his parents, Talon is preceded in death by his sister, Dura Maner, and brother, Solon Cooley. Mr. Talon leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Freddie May Anderson Cooley; daughter and son-in-law, Patrice & David Jeter. Randy Alan Cole, age 68, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. He was born October 8, 1955, in Carrollton, Georgia, the son of the late Palmer Cole and the late Mildred Bradley Cole. Mr. Randy began his working career at Sony Music, where he worked for 22 years. He then began working for Oglethorpe Power Electric Services Company, where he worked for 15 years. Randy was a member of Union Campground Church and truly loved his community. Randy found enjoyment in riding his Harley Davison motorcycle, hunting, and fishing. He was a very competitive man; he enjoyed all sports and he played on a softball team until he was 36 years old, as well as continuing to compete on a shooting team. However, he was a family man, first and foremost. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and exceptional grandfather. Tony Curtis Morrow, age 64, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023. He was born June 16, 1959, in Carrollton, Georgia, the son of Curtis Camp Morrow and the late Geraldine Weldon Teal. Mr. Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his service, he was primarily stationed in Korea but had deployments where he fought in various parts of the world. He was one of the hardest-working men you would ever meet and worked in construction with his son, Curtis, for many years. Tony found enjoyment in riding motorcycles, dirt track racing, hunting, and fishing. However, he was a family man, first and foremost. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and exceptional grandfather. He took pride in being able to provide for his family and would often go without so that his sons had everything they needed. He had a massive heart for people and would give you the shirt off his back. Tony will be genuinely missed by everyone who knew and loved him. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Johnny Teal, and granddaughter, Khia Jordan Morrow.
