"Vincent Carmen Minardi passed away peacefully at home in Fort Mill, South Carolina at the age of 79. Vincent was known as "Vince" or "Jimmy" by his family and friends. Vince was born on June 5, 1944 in Paterson, New Jersey to Francesca and Joseph Minardi. Vince went to The Newark College of Engineering and was a BS mechanical engineer. Vince started his career as an engineer and progressed through many management levels while working at Dupont/Westinghouse for over 40 years in explosives and nuclear industries. He was a member of the Sigma Phi and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. When Vince wasn't working you could find him playing Sudoku, gardening, cooking, visiting with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, spending time with his cousins and traveling whenever he could. Vince has moved many times in his life, he has lived in Augusta, Georgia, Hagerstown, Maryland, Morris, Illinois and in West Milford, New Jersey. Vince married his wife Renee Minardi on November 2, 1968 and they were married for 55 beautiful years. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a kind, generous and gentle man, he was everyone's Papa. Vince is survived by his wife, Renee Minardi and his children Michelle Clark (John), and Mathew Minardi (Missy). His grandchildren, Brittney (deceased), Jordan, Zacc, Maci, and Zane. As well as his great-grandchildren Mackenzie, and Phoenix. He is also survived by his brothers Joseph and Anthony Minardi. Clover, SC - Mrs. Ruby Marlene Varner Slayter, 82, passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Blissful Living Senior Care in Charlotte, NC. A graveside service will be Noon, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC with the Rev. Jeffery McWatters officiating. A native of Kilbourne, LA, Mrs. Slayter was a daughter of the late Soloman Franklin Varner and Bertie Mae Harper Varner. She was a retired Telecommunications Manager with BASF. She was a devout Christian who enjoyed being a student of God's Word and participating in Bible study groups. She attended Impact Community Church, Rock Hill, SC. She enjoyed traveling, spending time in nature, and boating. She loved music especially George Straight, Elvis Presley, and Casting Crowns. She was an animal lover who loved dogs and birds. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her favorite holiday was always Christmas. Surviving are her son, Brent Slayter; two step-sons, Dr. Jeffrey Charles Herndon (Cindy) and James "Jimmy" Morrow Herndon III (Danielle); a daughter, Monesa Thompson (Randy); a brother, Charles Varner (Jo); two sisters-in-law, June Varner and Sybil Shaw; 8 grandchildren, Ariana Herndon, Jacob Herndon, Tanner Herndon, Mya Herndon, Talya Herndon, Lemanda Slayter, Danielle Belknap, and Bobby Dean Baker III; an adopted granddaughter, Lauren Evans Carrigan; and 7 great-grandchildren, Corbin Belknap, Raven Belknap, Alex Belknap, Oliver Belknap, Madisyn Pelletier, Brayleigh Tanner, and Owen Baker; four nieces; three nephews; and two dear friends, Susan Briggs, and Sandra Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, MSGT James Morrow Herndon, Jr. ; a brother, B. F. Varner; a brother-in-law, Noble Shaw; and her beloved dogs, Mollye Mae and Buddy Boy. Patricia Lipp, "Pat", 88 formerly of Lordship, CT, Westport CT, and Isla Verde PR, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 2, 2023. She was born February 26, 1935, in Flushing, NY, daughter of the late Thomas and Anastasia (Duggan) Carnes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph (Joe) Lipp, Jr, her daughter Susan, as well as her sister Mary Joan and brothers Thomas and Billy. Born into a boisterous Irish family, she looked at life as a joyous adventure to be lived, pulling others into her circle, and supporting their dreams. She and Joe had six biological children, but her extended family included numerous cousins, students and friends And the common joke was that each and every one was her "favorite". She was always ready for adventure whether it was sailing with Joe as his rebellious first mate, camping, relocating to Puerto Rico, traveling to an English theme park with 6 kids and 6 (or more) adults in a compact hatchback, traveling and visiting her children and grandchildren internationally, or playing make believe in a closet with one of her grandchildren. She had a gift of making everyone feel important and special. Disney was one of her favorite happy places and she loved to share it. Her mantra was "Chose to be Happy" and she was. Pat's compassion and caring were not limited to her family. She worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for many years, supporting disasters relief that included among others, Hurricanes Hugo, Katrina and Sandy, as well as 9/11. She retired from FEMA at the age of 80. She leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by all who knew her. This includes her children Karen Johnson and her husband Daniel of NC, Joseph "Jay" Lipp III and his wife Sharon of CT, Liza Paulsen and her husband James of VA, Anastasia "Stacey" Freddino of Va and Patricia "Patty" Farrar and her husband Jeffery of SC. Her grandchildren DJ Johson, Tina Johnson, Thomas Lipp, Joey Lipp, Susie Mitchell, Jamie Paulsen, Jimmy Paulsen, Katie Freddino, Sarah Freddino, Scott Farrar and Shannon Farrar, and bonus grandchildren Jaime Mills and Kalya Stack. Naturally, each of the 13 grandchildren were convinced they were her favorite. She will also be missed by her 15 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren, cousins and friends. As she battled Alzheimer's, she began to forget what she had for breakfast, but she never lost her sense of humor, her cheerful outlook on life, or making everyone she met feel special. The family wishes to acknowledge the staff of Wellmore of Tega Cay, SC for their supportive care they provided, and becoming friends with Pat through her last two years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 6, at 10:30 AM. at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Westport, CT. On December 6th 2023, James Richard "Dick" Delahunty at the age of 88 took his last trip in this life as we know it. Dick was born in Oil City, PA and attended Edinboro States Teachers College in Edinboro, PA on a football scholarship. Dick was very active in athletics throughout most of his life. After college he played one year of semi-pro baseball in Oklahoma City and, as a parent, he coached his children for over 11 years in football, basketball and baseball. Dick was an avid golfer and was a member of Cederwood County Club for over 20 years and spent his retirement years as a Ranger at Springfield Golf Club in Fort Mill, SC. Dick served in the U. S Navy in the mid 1950's. Upon his discharge, he went to work with Reliance Electric and Engineering Company in Cleveland, Ohio, and then was employed at the Exchange Bank and Trust Company in Franklin, PA. Dick spent the greater portion of his life in Sales and Marketing representing various food companies and food brokers. He has lived in Charlotte, NC since 1978. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. He had lifelong friends from all walks of his life including childhood, and remained close contact with all of them through the years. Dick was a light-hearted optimist and could be unconventional, which was one reason people were so drawn to him. He lived his life at "full throttle". He was true to his heritage as a fun loving Irish charmer who was smart, savvy and wise. With his passing, there is a little less joy in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be swept into his swirling orbit. During his retirement, he loved researching genealogy and tracing his family roots back to Ireland. He was active in his community and became a HOA consultant where he enjoyed the challenge of solving homeowners problems. He enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with friends and family. He was an original NFL Panthers fan, he was also a Steelers loyal fan. His famous quote was "There are only 2 types of football games- Steelers and those who wanted to be. " He cherished the 44 years he had his wife and soul mate, Suellen Clarkson Delahunty. He is also survived by son Michael Delahunty (Kathy) of Sherrills Ford, NC; Daughter, Kelly Ray of Fort Mill, SC; and step-son, Tim Brindley of Fort Mill, SC; step-son, Burt Welch (Tammie) of Fort Mill, SC; and step-son Bart Welch (Vicki) of Clover, SC. He also is survived by seven grand children; Kacey Brindley, Addison Delahunty, Garrett Ray, Peyton Ray, Caroline Welch, Thomas Welch, and Karli Welch. Also surviving is his brother, Ronald Delahunty (Mary Lou), of Pittsburgh, PA; sister Barbara Carlson of Fort Mill, SC; and many nephews and nieces. His parents James E. and Edna Delahunty, preceded him in death as did his daughter, Kristine Brindley; his brother Carl Delahunty; his sister, Connie Myers; and brother-in-law, Paul Carlson. Kevin West Flanagan passed away on November 26, 2023 at the age of 65 in his hometown of Fort Mill, South Carolina. He was making significant improvements in his health, but unexpectedly had a heart attack. As a child, Kevin dreamed of becoming an architect, and used his undergraduate degree to teach industrial technology at high schools after he and his family moved from Oklahoma to Kansas in 1990. After a few years, Kevin decided to make a career change, and started to study information technology. He spent the past twenty-three years as an Information Technology Project Manager. In his free time, Kevin enjoyed cross-stitching, volunteered as the Cub Scout Pack Leader when his sons were younger, golfing, woodworking, singing, and relaxing at bookstores. As a dad, Kevin's favorite thing to say was "Does your face hurt?. . . because it's killing me!" His children always loved to hear his New England accent randomly insert itself into conversations when he would add a "r" to words like idea saying "idear" or remove a "r" when ordering a glass of "wata" at the restaurant. He is survived by his parents, Benjamin and Mary Jane Flanagan; sister, Wendy Flanagan; former wife, Shari Caughron, and their children: Ryan (Alisha), Kean (Kelsey), Brennan, and Caitlyn Flanagan; and his six grandchildren: Arabella Flanagan, Makylie Sexton-Flanagan, Lillian Flanagan, Gannon Flanagan, Rhodes Flanagan, and Eloise Flanagan. Kevin will be honored with a celebration of life at Mill Creek Community Church in Shawnee, Kansas on March 2, 2024 at 2PM, and will have his ashes spread in Rhode Island, per his wishes, later in the year. John (Jack) Harris passed away peacefully at 90. A native of Toledo, OH where he graduated from DeVilbiss High School. He's survived by his loving wife, Marge and their 4 children. Marge and Jack were high school sweethearts and married for 63 years. Jack was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing golf, softball, and tennis throughout his lifetime. If he wasn't playing sports, he was watching them. He enjoyed coaching his son's football and baseball teams; and playing golf and tennis with his daughters. In 1993, Jack retired from Procter & Gamble and he and Marge then moved to the mountains in Brevard NC where they enjoyed countless memories with so many wonderful friends. He and Marge later moved to Fort Mill, SC. where he enjoyed working and playing golf at the Fort Mill Golf Club. He was a member at the Lake Wylie Lutheran Church. He will be remembered as a man of strong character and work ethic. Those closest to him will fondly recall his love for sports, sense of humor and one-liners. Preceded in death, Aunt Blanche and Uncle Chet Harris, who raised Jack from birth. Linda Irene Walker, 83, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, passed away on November 30, 2023. She was born on January 29, 1940, in Rural Retreat, Virginia, and lived most of her life in Kingsport, Tennessee, before moving to the Charlotte area in 2006. Linda was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Linda is survived by her sons, Robert Walker and his wife Ellen, John Walker, Richard Walker and his wife Rene; her grandchildren, Justina Walker, Natalia Walker, and Michael Walker; as well as multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Walker; her mother, Irene Huddle; her father, Fred Huddle; and her sister, Lavelle Alley. Linda enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, having lunch with her friends at Sun City, and spoiling her granddogs, Smokey, Junior, Scout, and Bella. She cherished the moments shared with her loved ones and always made them feel special. A visitation to celebrate Linda's life will be held on Friday, December 8, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a service at 12:00 PM, at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville, located at 10500 Park Road, Pineville, NC 28210.
