Victoria "Vickie" Simon Duraso, 52, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. She was a native and lifelong resident of Vinton. Vickie enjoyed collecting Pioneer Woman cookware, and seafood dinners with her family, especially crawfish and crabs. Her grandchildren were her life and loved spending time with them. Survivors include her partner, Buddy Duraso of Vinton; her mother, Dorothy Simon of Vinton; her children, Tranton Duraso and wife, Brigida of Vinton, Kendra Simon of Orange, Texas, and Constance Duraso of Vinton; her sisters, Patricia Berry of Thibodaux, Veronica Vice of Vinton, Lovenia Fontenot of Lake Charles, and Crystal Simon of Vinton; and six grandchildren, Hayden Davis, Harlee Davis, Greyson Duraso, Wade Duraso, Octavia Simon, and Wesley Vickers. She is preceded in death by her son, Wade Garrett Duraso; and her father, Joseph Lee Simon. A memorial service will be held at 4 p. m. Monday, October 9, 2023 in Vinton Methodist Church. The Revs. Rob Tibbitts and Jay Lawson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 p. m. until the time of service in the church. Victoria "Vicki" Lynn Jowers, 67, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. She was born on October 13, 1956 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She worked for Vinton High School in the classroom for two years, but has been a volunteer for Vinton Lions Athletics for over 30 years, where she would help in the concession stands, and anywhere else she was needed. Vicki loved taking care of the children. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn fan, and would root for them every time. She is survived by her husband of nearly 34 years, Chris Jowers; son, Jared Reina of Vinton, Louisiana; mother, Dolores Fuselier Reina of Bridge City, Texas; brother, Gordon Reina (Krista) of Round Rock, Texas; along with her sister, Lisa Hamerly (Danny) of Orangefield, Texas; nieces and nephew, Jarrod Hubert (Mandy), Nicole Frye, Jessica Burch (Brent), McKenzie Reina; and great nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn, Bryce, and Brock Hubert, Adley and Gibson Burch; along with her brother-in-law, Donald Hubert. Vicki is preceded in death by her father, Louis Reina; in-laws, Thurman and Barbara Jowers; and her sister-in-law, Jeannie Jowers Hubert. A Celebration of Vicki's life will be held at Crossroads Baptist Church in Vinton, Louisiana on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 11:00 am, with Bro. Rob Tibbitts officiating. Visitation will be at Crossroads Baptist on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday, from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Earl Edward "Papa or Patin" Rougeau, 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in his residence. He was a native of Basile and had been a resident of Vinton for over 30 years coming from Moss Bluff. Earl enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Christian Life Church in Vinton and loved by his church family. He was a true Cajun, having never met a stranger, was a "collector" of many things, and would give the shirt off of his own back to help someone in need. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Lou Rougeau of Vinton; his children, Amada Rougeau of Reeves, Joseph Rougeau of Kinder, Lerdie Lanette Prudhomme of Kinder, Amadia Rougeau of Indiana, Rena Clayton of Pineville, Katina Crochet of Hathaway, Angela Guillot and husband, Joey of Moss Bluff, Vicki Yocum and husband, Ken of Gilmer, Texas, Carla Pratt of Moss Bluff, and Lee Pratt and wife, Dawn of Houston, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Earl "Kem" Rougeau; his siblings, Harry Rougeau, Mary Ann Rougeau, Jeanette Stelly, and Jessie Rougeau. His funeral service will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday, December 2, in Christian Life Church in Vinton. The Revs. Don Snider and Lee Pratt will officiate. Visitation is from 4-8 p. m. Charlotte Mae David, 67, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in her residence. Charlotte was a lifelong resident of Vinton. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was the official "taste tester" for the Vinton Knights of Columbus for their cookouts. Charlotte was a proud supporter of Vinton athletics and was affectionately known as "Maw Charlotte". She enjoyed wood working, repurposing furniture, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Kyle Landry and wife, Shelly of Sulphur, Carol Gary and husband, John of Vinton, Luke David and wife, Stacey of Lake Charles, and Seth David and wife, Stacey of Lake Charles; her daughter-in-law, Tammy Landry of Fannett, Texas; her sisters, Julie Able of Lake Charles, and Peggy McNiel of Orange, Texas; her grandchildren, Nate, Noah, Jolie, and Nick Gary, Gabriel, Olivia, and Amelia Landry, Chandler Duhon, Macey Richard, Annalina, Avalynn, Reeves, Rosin, and Ada David, and Shelby, Wyatt, and Camille Chapman; great-grandchildren, Barrett, Haegan, and Parker Gary; and many nieces and nephews. James Ray McDonald, 60, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023 at his residence. He was born to his late parents, J. D. and Verna McDonald on August 2, 1963 in Orange, Texas. He was owner/operator of Side Line Paint and Body Shop for nearly 20 years, and he was truly the jack of all trades. James enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and anything outdoors. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He never met a stranger and loved visiting with people. During the past times of devastation, he would lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and that goes for any other time as well. He is survived by his loving wife 30 of years, Angela McDonald; four daughters, Hollye Courville (Porky) of Vinton, Louisiana, Brittany Dommert (Bryan) of Carlyss, Louisiana, Ashley McDonald (Bryan) of Starks, Louisiana, and Magen McDonald of Vinton, Louisiana; brother, Jay Dale McDonald (Connie) of DeQuincy, Louisiana; two sisters, Jean Martinez (Marvin) of Starks, Louisiana, and Pam Corbin of Scott, Louisiana; along with twelve grandchildren, Zoey, Zara, Jax, Brayden, Kayden, Conner, Paizlyn, Kendell, Kenzlie, Hadley, Brantley, and Rylie. James is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Myers; along with his brother, Tommy McDonald. A Celebration of James' life will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton, Louisiana on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 10:00 am, with Lance Simon officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton, Louisiana on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, from 8:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Niblett's Bluff Cemetery in Vinton, Louisiana.
