Susan "Susie" Lynn Hatfield, age 60, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Susie was born on August 22, 1963 in Cartersville, GA, daughter of Alford Shepard and Christine Martin Shepard. Susie graduated from Cartersville High School in 1981. She then attended Kennesaw State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She obtained her Master's Degree in Nursing from Georgia State University. Susie was an extremely caring person who dedicated her entire life to the service of others. She began her medical career at Cartersville Medical Center for twelve years. She then began her work in the private health care industry, and retired after twenty years from Correct Health, where she served as Executive Director of Clinical Services. She was highly respected in her field and will be missed by so many. She was an avid Atlanta Falcons fan, was often times wearing a jersey and she never missed watching a game. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling to other countries including Prague, Australia, France and Thailand. She loved spending quality time with her family on the water at Lake Hartwell. She also liked to gamble with her family, playing the slots and three card poker. Susie is preceded in death by her father, Alford Shepard; granddaughter, Ryder Hatfield. Survivors include her mother, Christine Martin Shepard; her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Eddie Hatfield; son, Shepard (Katie) Hatfield; granddaughter, Demi Jolynn Hatfield; sister, Renee (Gary) Cochran; nephew, Hunter Cochran; aunt, Kathy King; beloved dog, Brinkley Hatfield. Graveside Services will be conducted at three-thirty in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 5th of December. 2023 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Harrison Hatfield, Gary Cochran, Hunter Cochran, James Paul, Blake Martin, Jason Martin, Dr. Steve Mitchell. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from one o'clock in the afternoon until three on Tuesday, the 5th of December, 2023 at Owen Funeral Home. Doris Miller Gentry, age 96, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Taylorsville, Georgia on June 28, 1927, to the late Granville Miller and Lula Costlow Miller. Doris is survived by her daughters Barbara Temples (Jimmy, Sr. ), June Gentry, and Donna Gentry (David Cross); her two grandchildren Karen Kirkpatrick (Joey) and James Temples, Jr. (Shannon); great grandchildren Caleb Freeman (Brooke), Danielle Temples, Brianna Temples, Abbie Kirkpatrick, and Joseph Kirkpatrick; great-great-grandchildren Kaysen and RC; sister Joyce Gentry (Dennis). Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Daniel Gentry; son, Wayne Gentry; sisters, Inez Huskins (James), Mildred Hohenberger (Richard); brothers, Clyde Miller (Eunice) and Henry Miller. Known for her unwavering dedication and love for her family, Doris was admired and respected throughout the community. Along with being an avid reader she had many talents and skills including cooking, sewing, and decorating. She loved traveling, being outdoors, tending the yard, and raising her garden. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, Cartersville, Georgia. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and on Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Internment will then follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia. Steven Curtis Boy, beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather finished his earthly journey and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 29, 2023. He was born April 9, 1947, in Amarillo, Texas, the only child of Albert John and Mary Lillian Boy. Being the son of a career military man, Steve traveled extensively during his early years, graduating from a military dependent school in Seville, Spain in 1965. He served in the U. S. Army, 25th Infantry Division, including time in South Vietnam in 1968 - 69. Upon returning from Vietnam, he settled in Macon where his parents were. He also served eight years in the Air Force Reserve. Mr. Boy worked at Robins Air Force Base in the Aircraft Maintenance Division for 35 years, retiring at the end of 2011. In 2015, he and his wife resettled in Cartersville to be closer to their daughters. He is survived by his bride of 52 years, Gloria Trahan Boy, his two daughters, Angela Boy (Roswell, Ga. ), and Sarah Boy (Cartersville), and granddaughter Abigail Grace Boy (Roswell, Ga. ) A Celebration of his life will be held at Cartersville First Baptist Church in the Lottie Moon Chapel at 1:00 p. m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 with visitation beginning at 11:00. Internment is scheduled for Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 11:00 am, Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Legacy Project, First Baptist Church, 241 Douthit Ferry Rd. , Cartersville, GA. 30120.
