Vicky Jean Bell "Funny Girl" ,51 of Canton. Went home to Jesus surrounded by those who loved her on September 9, 2023. Vicky was born on November, 22, 1971to Steven and Janet Bell. Vicky is survived by her mother, Her big sister, best friend, Brenda (Darren) Rose, her sons Brett Grant, and Kaine Gunning. , one Nephew Elijah Rose. Her best friends Misty Little, and Becky Synder who were there by her side till the end. Her cats Cake, Archie. Edith, and Mr. Muggles. She was preceded in death by her father, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. Vicky worked at HyVee in the deli. She was known for her smile, laughter, and wonderful customer service. She loved her boys in the meat department. Vicky loved music, cats, going flower shopping with her sister every Spring and Fall. She was an artist, and worked in stained glass She loved antique malls and thrift store shopping. She really loved to decorate for the holidays. She loved Fall time. She was able to fulfill her bucket list. She went to Florida and saw the ocean for the 1st time. and Graceland with her best friends. She had her first pedicure ever with her Mom and sister, She could make anyone laugh. Her sense of humor, her faith in Jesus Christ got her through her battle with cancer. She wanted everyone to know Jesus loves them. Her final wish is that everyone knows that. She was tired and ready to go home to Jesus. She did not suffer and was comfortable till the end. Her years were short, but her impact on this world was huge. Thank you to all who donated to her final expenses. You were a Blessing. In honor of her love for cats. We ask that all memorials be given to Fulton County Humane Society. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 10:00 until 11:00 a. m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. A funeral procession to Orendorff Cemetery will follow for a graveside service officiated by Rev. Monroe Bailey. Vicky's final wishes were for everyone to dress casual to her funeral, please wear your favorite t-shirt and jeans.

James Michael "Pappy" Grimsley, age 74, of New Canton, IL, passed away December 4, 2023 at home with his loving wife, Jackie by his side. He was born in Barry, IL on May 29, 1949 to William Ray Grimsley Sr. and Bernice (Morrow) Grimsley. He married Jacquiline L. Badgley on September 21, 2006, and she survives. Michael proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp as a staff sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1974. He came from a family of men who served their country. His father, Bill Grimsley Sr. and uncle, Gerald Grimsley, served in World War II, and his brother, Bill Grimsley Jr. in Vietnam. He married Brenda Stone and to their union, four children were born, Nicole, Shelly, Ray, and Brandon. He later married Jackie and enjoyed many loving years with her. He enjoyed being a manager at Top Gun in Hannibal in his later years. Mike had many titles in his life, but the best one was "Grandpa". Pappy enjoyed riding dirt bikes, racing, and had a love for horses. He enjoyed the rescue horses that came in and later went to loving homes. He and Jackie also helped many people by taking them in as well. Mike enjoyed keeping his yard looking good, riding in the side-by-side with his friend, Gary, and playing Farkle with friends, John and Judy. Mike is survived by; his wife of 17 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" Grimsley; children, Nicole (Chad) Triplett of New Mexico, Shelly Young (David) of Quincy, IL, Ray (Joyce) Grimsley of Hull, IL, Brandon (Tina) Grimsley of Hannibal, MO, Mike Brown (Jenny) of Quincy, IL, and Adam Brown (Marsha) of Hannibal, MO. ; grandchildren, Kaleb, Emily, Jake, Celeste, Amelia, Sidney, Isla, Nikki, Tiffany, and Drew; great grandchildren, Nevada and Zepplin; brother, Bill Grimsley of Kinderhook, IL; sisters, Eileen Bernard of New Canton, IL, Sherril Turner (Darrel) of Shelbina, MO, and Dena Moyer of Kinderhook, IL; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins survive. He was preceded in death by; his parents, Bill and Bernice; sister, Karen Jean; aunt, Kathy Reynolds; uncle, Richard Morrow; nephews, Jacob Harrison and Ryan Moyer; step daughter, Lisa Brown; sisters in law, Crista Grimsley and Frances Dieker; and close friend, Randy Newland. Visitation will be Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Military honors will be given by the Marine Corp Funeral Honor Guard and Barry American Legion Post #222. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Larry A. "Lefty" Steach, 69, died peacefully at his home, on October 24, 2023. He was born on July 10, 1954, to Rolland "Spike" and Sybil (Henderson) Steach. They preceded him in death along with a half brother, Ronnie Steach and a half sister, Patricia Steach Juliusson. Larry married Jill DeMoss Cook on July 18, 1986. She survives. Also surviving are two step sons, Kyle (Natalie) Cook with, granddaughters Ali, Gabi, Madi, and Hadli, and Karl (Andi) Cook with granddaughter, Peyton. His beloved pets, dog Mya, and cats Molly and Everest also survive. He leaves a brother, Danny (Jennie) Steach, niece Mallory and great niece Maebry and several other nieces and nephews. Larry was a 1972 graduate of Canton High School. He retired from Illinois River Correctional Center in Canton after 20 years of service. He refereed basketball, football and umpired baseball. Larry enjoyed riding his Harley, playing slow pitch softball, being a school crossing guard, and mowing and caring for his and other's lawns. He was involved with several charitable organizations and endeavors, including the Kathryn Westerfield Memorial fund and a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. The family wishes to thank the friends neighbors and family who have contributed food, help and supported us with their love and prayers. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton from 1:00 p. m. until 4:00 p. m. Canton - Clara Grace McCutcheon, 96, passed away on October 12th at Red Oak Estates. Born in Patton, MO in 1927, Clara married Jacob I. McCutcheon on August 30, 1946 in Bollinger County, MO. They lived in St. Louis, MO for 60 years and moved to Canton, IL in 2011 to be near their daughter, Carol Davis. Her husband Jacob died in 2014. Also preceding her in death were her parents Roy and Grace Smith and siblings Harold Smith and Jessie Crites. She is survived by her daughter Carol Davis, grandson Colin Davis, and great-granddaughter Autumn Davis all of Canton, IL. Also surviving are three beloved nieces, Dixie Boyce, Judi Statler, Deanna Carter, and Debbie Deneke, all of Missouri. Growing up the small town of Patton, MO, Clara learned the values of family, self-sacrifice, economic living, and love of friends during the Depression. She lived her life based on those values. During WW II, she was asked to fill in as a public-school teacher for one year. Moving to St. Louis in the early 1950s, Clara became a loving mother, an efficient housewife, a dedicated church member, and an exceptional seamstress. Her career included working for an insurance agency, a shoe factory, and a financial institution. Over the years, she developed exemplary math and financial planning skills. She loved her St. Louis Cardinals, especially Yadier Molina. Clara lived at Red Oak Estates for the last eight years of her life. The family recognizes and is grateful for the loving support provided by Red Oak staff as well as Serenity Point's care during Clara's last six months of her life. Cremation rites have been accorded by Oaks Hines Funeral Home, Canton, IL. No public services are planned. Clara will be interred with her husband at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Donna M. Martin, 77, of Canton, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Graham Hospital Emergency Room. She was born on August 13, 1946 in Burlington, IA to Harold and Helen Maxine (Jackson) Swisher. They preceded her in death. She married Frank Martin on August 16, 1964 in Cuba. He Survives. Also surviving are her children, Frank (Holly) Martin of Canton, IL, Angela (Troy) Simpson, of Denver, IL, Candy (Mike) Ide of LaHarpe, IL, Tracy Martin, of Canton, IL, brothers, Wayne Swisher, Chuck Swisher, sister, Joyce Horn, grandchildren, Tiffany Jenkins, Stefani Martin, David Andre, Dylan Martin, Devin Martin, Tyler Ferguson, Ashley Ferguson, Caleb Ferguson, Kristi Reimolds, Steven Ide and twenty great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Jessica Martin and two brothers, Bobby and Dan Swisher. Donna was a member of Assembly of God Church in Canton and was part of a great church community. The last few years experienced ocean vacations along with her first plane ride along with several church outings. Donna was very forward with her opinion and you knew where you stood with her. When she would call your phone, you better have no less than 30-40 minutes to chat. She loved to share her weeks happenings and see how everyone was doing. She collected the Lord's Cross and ceramic Christmas trees. Cremation rites have been accorded by her wishes through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton and a private burial of her ashes will be held at Locust Lane Cemetery. Rice, 88, of Peoria, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of her savior Jesus Christ (1 John 5:13) at 9:20 p. m. , Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka. She was born on August 19, 1935, in Washington, IL, to Arthur and Dena (Hartter) Hunziker. She married Edward Rice on October 13, 1956, in Washington, IL. He preceded her in death in 2001. LaVerne is survived by three children, Michael (Sally) Rice of Peoria, Julie (Sam) Altpeter of Peoria, and Angela Altpeter of Peoria; two brothers, Arthur Hunziker Jr. and Ken Hunziker; one sister, Irma Cherrie; five grandchildren, Amy (Clint) Haddock, Holly (Michael) Manthey, Ryan (Vanessa) Altpeter, Brittany (Chris) Gonzalez, and Andrew Rice; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lawrence Hunziker and Donald Hunziker; and two sisters, Ruth Underhill and Eleanor Wallace. LaVerne was a Realtor for over 40 years. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a. m. , on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Bethany Baptist Church in Peoria. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. at the church. A private burial of ashes will be held at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria at a later date.
