With a heavy heart, we must share that Jose Bruno Parra has gone to be with our Lord in heaven. "El jefe" left us on February 26, 2024, to be at rest and joined his parents Teodulo Parra and Maria Parra. Born of humble beginnings in Parral, he was the 5th child of 12 brothers and sisters. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, undeniable charisma, positive outlook, infectious smile, and many deeds of mischief. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He leaves behind his lovely wife of 50 years, Maria Parra, children Blanca and Jose Roberto, grandchildren Marissa and Abram, and great-grandson Antonio, along with brothers Jesus Isabel, and Jesus David, sisters Juanita, Soledad, Lucia, Carmen and Maria Teresa. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A viewing will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Crespo and Jirrels Funeral home in Baytown, TX from 5-8 pm. She was born on June 13, 1930, in Noxapater, Mississippi. Jewel's warm and caring personality made her a cherished member of her community.Jewel had an incredible talent for cooking. Family gatherings were never complete without her delicious meals filling the air with mouthwatering aromas. Her culinary skills were renowned among her relatives and friends who eagerly gathered around the table to savor her culinary creations. Jewel cherished these moments with all those dear to her heart; she valued family above all else.Jewel's journey was marked by profound love and companionship. In her early years, she met and married Fred Henry Dawsey. Together they charted their path in life until destiny led them to part in death. Eventually, Jewel found love once again when she married Raul "RJ" Kennison. Their union brought immeasurable joy into Jewel's life.Jewel is proceeded in death by her, sons Gregory, Marvin, Karl Dawsey, and Randy Kennison her step daughters, Robin Kennison and Roxanne Kennison.Jewel leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond her immediate family. She is survived by her children, Glenda Werner of Crosby, Texas; Wanda Chastain of Crosby, Texas; Dickey Kennison and his Fran of Sulphur, LA., Charlotte Nezat, and her husband Ricky of Port Barre, Beryl Stoute and her husband, Wes of Port Barre, Brenda Higdon and her husband Glenn of Port Barre, sister Mary "Sally" Gladys Dupuy of Baton Rouge; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Jewel's impact on their lives will forever be cherished, and her memory will live on through the love and values she instilled in each of them.

BAYTOWN, TX. - Juan C. Perez entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 10th of February 2024 in the comfort of his Baytown residence surrounded by his loving family. He was seventy-five years of age.Juan was born in Harlingen, Texas on November 15, 1948, son of the late Juan and Laurentina Cardenas Perez. He worked with the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department for over twenty years and retired from the United States Marshals Service. His favorite pastimes included spending time with his family, deer hunting, and fishing. Juan had a funny, loving, and caring personality. He was a smart, wonderful man who offered advice to anybody that asked for it. He would light up the room and was truly the life of the party. Anybody that knew him loved him and he will be deeply missed.Preceding Juan in death were his parents, Juan and Laurentina Cardenas Perez.Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Magdalena Perez; his children Laura Longoria, Daniel Perez (Nereida), Juan Perez, Robert Nieto (Mary Kathryn), Adriana Paredes (Luis), and Aglhaen Nieto-Cruz (Victor Cruz); as well as his eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, the 14th of February 2024 between the hours of twelve noon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Wednesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at twelve noon on Thursday, the 15th of February 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln Street, Brownsville. Linda Petersen Ploch, a cherished member of the community known for her dedication to Eastgate Church, has peacefully passed away at the age of 74 in Baytown. Linda was born on December 16, 1949, in San Bernardino, California, to Christopher Petersen and Lois Castro Petersen. Throughout her life, Linda was a legal assistant for Jay Arnold in Liberty. Her work ethic and commitment were truly admirable to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. However, it was her 44-year dedication to Eastgate Church that truly exemplified her spirit of service and faith. Outside of her professional life, Linda found joy in various hobbies and interests. She was passionate about playing games, exploring arts and crafts, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Her involvement in helping to provide Vacation Bible School, Children's Church activities, and special events at Eastgate Church showcased her caring nature and love for the community. In her family life, Linda was survived by her loving husband of over 56 years, Richard Ploch Sr., their daughter Lori Ploch, grandchildren Chase Fayle, Payton Ploch, Raelynn Ploch, great-grandchild Austyn Ploch, as well as several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Christopher Petersen and mother Lois Castro Petersen her son Richard Ploch Jr. and son-in-law Justin Godbold. A visitation will be held at Eastgate Church in Dayton on March 2nd from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM with Pastor Rick Doran officiating burial to follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. The services aim to honor Linda's life and commemorate the legacy she has left behind. Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Payton Ploch, Mike Hammond, Ian Fayle, Tristan Strother, Tommy Sumpter, John Leopard. Linda Petersen Ploch will forever be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to both her work and faith. May she rest in peace knowing that her light will continue to shine through the memories and lives she has touched along the way.

Marcia E (Harper) Elder passed peacefully Friday, February 16th, 2024 at her home in Baytown, Texas under the care of her niece and nephew, Darlene and Perry Weeks. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Elder; father, Hadyn Harper; mother, Marcia Harper; by her 3 brothers and sister, Willie, Hadyn, Walter, and Douglas Harper. She was born on Cedar Bayou, Texas at home on February 3, 1927. She was 97 years of age. Marcia graduated from Barbers Hill High School and after high school, she attended and graduated from Business School. After graduation, she returned to help her mom and dad run the Harper Grocery Store in Tri City Beach. Marcia gained employment as a secretary at US Steel until it closed. Finally, she worked for an industrial supply company until she and her husband Jack retired and moved to Harper, Texas. Marcia was happily married to Jack Elder for 35 years until Jack passed away on September 8th, 2001. She is survived by step-daughter, Angela Ozemy; nephews and nieces, Steve and Jo Barrow, Richard and Sharon Barrow, Perry and Darlene Weeks, Cheryl Parro, Charley and Pat Harper, Kenneth and Maryanne Harper, Suzan and Bradley Phillips, and Earl and Kim Harper. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed going to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed other hobbies like ceramics, sewing, and playing the accordion. Marcia will have a graveside only service on February 29, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Cedarcrest Cemetery, in Baytown, Texas.
