Julie Kay Spring McMullen, a loving wife, mother, and community member, passed away at home on November 15th, 2023, surrounded by her family and loyal dog. She was 76 years old. A Celebration of Life will be held at the McMullen Fine Arts Center in Hamilton, Texas, on December 16th at 11 am, where friends and family will gather to celebrate her remarkable life. Born on August 30, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Julie was the daughter of Dr. Jacob and Mary Spring. The family later relocated to Uvalde, Texas, where she graduated from Uvalde High School in 1965. Julie attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where she majored in Education. During her time at Southwestern, she became a member of the Tri Delta sorority and crossed paths with her future husband, Andy Joe McMullen of Weslaco, Texas. After graduating from Southwestern in 1969, Julie moved to Edna, Texas, where she taught high school History while Andy attended Baylor Law School. The couple exchanged vows on August 17th, 1971, at Terrytown United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas. Following their wedding, they chose Hamilton, Texas, as their home--a town they considered "the ideal small Texas town" in which to build their life together. Julie continued her career in education, teaching History at Hamilton High School, and earning a Master's degree in Education from Tarleton State University. Julie and Andy were blessed with two children: Andrew Porter in 1976 and Aaron Spring in 1980. In addition to being a loving mother, Julie was an active and engaged member of the Hamilton community. She played a vital role in establishing the inaugural Hamilton Dove Festival and contributed to various organizations, including the Hamilton Woman's Council, Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, Hamilton Master Gardeners, Hamilton Public Library, and the Hamilton Hospital Foundation. Julie was an astute businesswoman. In 1985, she co-founded Plain & Fancy with her friend and business partner, Betty Ethetton. Her passion for plants, nurtured during her time with the Hamilton Master Gardeners, led her to establish McMullen Farms in 2018. In her later years, Julie dedicated much of her time to pursuing her passions, including traveling the world, enhancing her beloved Hamilton community, and cherishing moments with her children and grandchildren. Julie is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Jacob and Mary Spring of Austin, Texas, and her brother, Gary Spring, of Hamilton, Texas. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Andy McMullen, and her two sons: Andrew McMullen and his wife Amy, along with their three daughters, Madison, Megan, and Camryn, of Dallas, Texas; and Aaron McMullen of Austin, Texas. The McMullen family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Randy Lee and the dedicated caregivers at Hamilton General Hospital and Baylor Scott & White for their unwavering support during Julie's 13-year battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be considered for the Hamilton Hospital Foundation and Hamilton Public Library, two causes dear to Julie.Show more

Alice Ann Fogle of Harker Heights, Texas, passed October 29, 2023 peacefully in her sleep. She was 78 years old. A lifelong Texan native, Ann was well-loved. A graveside memorial for Ann will be held at 1:00pm on November 21, 2023 at Killeen Memorial Park, 3516 Lake Road, Killeen, Texas where her burial will be held. Ann was born March 4, 1945 in Hamilton, Texas to Mark Samuel and Ola Beatrice Neal and grew up with 8 siblings in Hamilton, Killeen and later on Lake Belton. Ann attended Killeen High School but later obtained her GED from Central Texas College. She was a loving stay at home Mom until her youngest child began school and then began working in the travel industry which she grew to love. She owned and operated Bon Voyage Travel for many years with daughter Lori Knapp and loved all her clients and traveling. Ann attended Southside Church of Christ in Killeen for many years, was a member of the Killeen Garden Club and the Killeen Jayce-ettes. Ann had three children who she cherished, and was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She enjoyed spending time with them. She also loved quilting and made each of her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter one. Ann was affectionately known as Granny by all her children's friends. Survivors, include daughter Lori and husband Bill Knapp of Harker Heights, Texas; daughter Michelle Fogle and Tony Garcia of Belton, Texas, son Brandon an wife Dena Fogle of Belton, Texas; her beloved grandchildren Andrew, Bradley, Haley, Hayden, Patrick, Addison and great-grandchild Hyland. She is also survived by two sisters Nancy Schroyer and Clota Cates. Ann was preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings.Show more

GRANBURY - Peggy Marie Arnett Jennings was born to Willis Wylie Arnett and Lily Mae Arnett in Hamilton, Texas on July 16, 1928, and died in her sleep on October 25, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. Peggy grew up on the family farm in Hamilton alongside her four siblings. She was shaped by. . . Peggy met her husband while she was in nursing school at Scott and White in Temple, Texas. The couple married to DC Jennings on March 25, 1948 and shortly thereafter DC was drafted into WWII. Throughout their marriage Peggy continued her career as a nurse a::id the couple raised three children. In her professional life, she achieved remarkable success, holding various positions at Baylor Scott and White All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth. She was particularly proud of her position as Assistant Director of Nursing at All Saints. Peggy had a tenacious and witty spirit. She enjoyed the outdoors and tended a robust garden well into her 80s. Ever active, she loved spending time on the water and didn't retire the water skis until her late 70s. When she would take the time to sit, she would be found playing cards or dominos with a competitive edge. Peggy exuded a spirited tenacity and quick wit that remained unwavering throughout her life. Even in her 80s she continued to nurture a thriving garden, a testament to her enduring love for the outdoors. Her zest for life kept her actively engaged, and she clung to her water skis until her late 70s. On those rare occasions when she paused to rest, you'd invariably find her engrossed in spirited card games or intense dominos matches, always striving for victory. Peggy leaves behind a legacy of love and survived by her loving children, Cindy Bursey (predeceased by her spouse, Fred Bursey) and Paula Nemitz (spouse, David Nemitz); her cherished five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren who gave her profound joy. Peggy was preceded in death by her devoted husband, DC Jennings (1975 and caring son, Stanley Jennings (2023) leaving behind a wealth of cherished memories and a lasting impact on her family.Show more
