Valerie “Val” Shank, age 90, was reunited with her husband and son in Heaven on June 19, 2022. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Bob; her son, Doug; and brother, Jack. Val is survived by her granddaughters, Arianne and Emily; daughter-in-law Linda; niece, Valerie; nephews, Ben, Jim, and Matt; and cousin, Barbara Parker. Family meant everything to Val. She adored her granddaughters, and instilled in them a love of reading and games. Val was a longtime member of the Powell United Methodist Church, and still held dear her home church in Youngstown, OH, Church Hill United Methodist. She made many lifelong friends through her Sunday School class. Val loved literature, especially children’s books and poetry. She composed numerous poems herself. Val loved people and children and made friends where she went. She really enjoyed parties, or any social activity. She often organized lunch outings and game nights with friends.
