Valentin Silva Dominguez Jr , 81, better known as "Val", resident of Las Cruces and former resident of Deming entered eternal rest Wednesday September 27, 2023 at his home Visitation will begin Thursday October 12, 2023 from 12 to 1 o'clock in the afternoon at Holy Family Catholic Church The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited at 1 led by Christine B Milo The Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 2 with the rite of committal and interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery Fr Prakasham Babu, Pastor will officiate Valentin was born November 26, 1941, in Hurley, NM to Valentin and Consuelo (Silva) Dominguez Valentin was a very much loved and adored man He enjoyed being close to his family and of course giving those around him a hard time, constantly joking with them Valentin was a very hard worker as well In his lifetime he held jobs with numerous companies which included Brown and Root Mine, American Can Company (MRI), Playas Mine, Quintana Mine and eventually retired from the NMDOT He operated heavy machinery and was quite talented He would perform and NMDOT Road-eo showing off his talent of operating heavy machinery Valentin always admired his work and put much pride into it, that when he would drive past an old job site, he would admire the work he had done After his retirement, Valentin enjoyed hunting, watching his grandchildren compete in their sports activities, enjoyed watching sports and of course his Dallas Cowboys play, he even assisted Holy Family with their traditional Klobase festival Valetin will be missed dearly He is survived by his children Marcus (Teresa) Dominguez, Martha Dominguez and Margaret (Frank Peralta) Dominguez all of Deming; his siblings Johnny Dominguez, Leandro Dominguez, Frank (Ernestina) Dominguez, Virginia Garcia, and Angelina (Karl) Hardin; 8 grandchildren: Stephanie (Rita), Ashley, Tony "Bud"(Sarah), Jessica, Zachary(Zenaida), Suzette(Illiana), Kari(Richard), & Marc 12 great-grandchildren: Kristen (the older one), Cierra, D'Kadence, Jayden, Sebastian, Tauriel, Zendaya, Xanthe, Zavian, Aziel, Zander, & Taytum As well as many extended family and friends Valentin was preceded in death by his parents Valentin and Consuelo Dominguez; his spouse Susie Dominguez; a son Mark Anthony Dominguez, 3 brothers Luis, Rey, and George Dominguez, and Charlotte Dominguez Serving as pallbearers will be Stephanie, Ashley, Tony, Jesscia, Zachary, Suzette, Kari, Marc Dominguez & Richard Cereceres Honorary bearers will be his 12 great-grandchildren, Sarah Dominguez, Randa Alm, Kenya Zimmerman, & Brianna Robles We would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Function Therapy, the staff from various doctor's offices that cared for him, and Philip Baca for all his help during this time To to the family or in memory of Valentin S Dominguez, please

Louis M Swartz, 89, of Las Cruces, NM passed away after a prolonged illness on December 1, 2023 at La Posada Assisted Living. Louis was born in Deming, NM to Edward J Swartz and Trinidad Chavez on April 25, 1934. He graduated from NMSU in 1957 with a BS degree in mechanical engineering and from NMHU in 1979 with an MBA. He moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1963 where he worked for over 30 years as a mechanical engineer for the KAFB Weapons Lab. He was interested in photography and dabbled in both watercolor and oil painting. He was an art, music, and wine enthusiast and loved to read. Louis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary G Swartz; his children Dr. Cecilia M Tellez, Michael L Swartz, Paul G Tellez, and Anna T Swartz; his granddaughter Mariana Tellez Hernandez; his brother E James Swartz; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 6 PM Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, December 15, 2023, The Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S Espina Street. "Angeline (Angie) Schoeppner, age 96, died Saturday, December 2, 2023, at home surrounded by her family in Las Cruces, New Mexico. A memorial service will be held at 11 a. m. Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Fr. Timothy Schott will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. A reception will follow in the Sharp Center in Carroll. The family will greet family and friends beginning at 10 a. m. Friday Morning. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Angie's name to the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation https://kuemper. org/donate-now. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Angie's family at www. sharpfuneral. com. Angie was born on May 19, 1927 in Brayton, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Anna Thielen. She was a graduate of Carroll High School in 1945 after taking a college preparatory course. She attended Iowa State teachers' college and taught school for 5 years. Thereafter, Angie served as a secretary for the Carrollton Consolidated School District. On June 28, 1949, she was married to Merle Schoeppner at St. Mary Church in Willey, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple farmed for a short time in the Carrollton area, moving to Carroll, Iowa in 1955. Angie was employed for 11 years at General Electric, as the first women hired in Carroll as the Quality Assurance Control Operator. Angie was highly involved in her community as a member of the St. Lawrence Parish, Board of Director for New Hope, President and member of New Hope Family Association, and President of what was then known of as the Retarded Citizens Association. She was highly active in the Welcome Wagon society (in her earlier years), and a volunteer of the Hospital Auxiliary. Angie's family will never forget her dedication and love to all of her children, but especially to her daughter Kathleen. She dedicated 65 years of her life giving Kathy the upmost attention and care. Angie is survived by her brother Ronald Thielen, sister Ana Mae Hacker, sisters-in-law Carol Schoeppner and Alice Thielen, daughter-in-law Judy Schoeppner of Las Cruces, NM, son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Mitzie Schoeppner of Las Cruces, NM, son and daughter-in-law Steve and Carol Schoeppner of Las Cruces, NM, 6 grandchildren (Kimberly, Tim, Collin, Ashton, Emerson, Jenna), 4 great- grandchildren (Avery, Brycen, Jameson, Claire) and one blessing on the way. Angie was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Anna, her brothers Charles and Franklin, her husband Merle, her son Mark, and daughter Kathleen. Leandro Duran Chavez passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 1, 2023. Leandro, also known as Chino, was born in Mesilla, New Mexico on October 22, 1927, to Nemesio Chavez and Glafira Duran. During World War II, Leandro enlisted in the U. S. Army at the age of seventeen and proudly served his country in the Pacific Theater. Leandro loved farming and was born with a green thumb. He engaged in farming all his life and was known for growing some of the best chile, the sweetest cantaloupe and watermelons of all varieties. He had a very good mechanical sense and had a knack for fixing anything. He was credited in designing and the building the first chile roaster in the Mesilla Valley. Being the modest person that he was, he claimed that it was "probably" the first as he had never heard of one built before his. He went on to work for the City of Las Cruces at its waste water treatment plant where he eventually retired. Leandro is survived by his wife Alicia of 73 years, his children, Leandro Chavez and Becky (Ernest) Bustillos. Grandchildren Santiago Chavez, Alisa Chavez, Lee Chavez, and Emilio Bustillos. Great grandchildren Austin Chavez, Logan Chavez, Jackson Chavez, and Emma Chavez. Sisters Margarita Rel and Mary Lopez. He is preceded in death by his sister Augustina Montez and his brothers Teodosio, Felipe,Jose, and Henry Chavez. Chino was a wonderful, kind person and was loved by many. Rest in peace Dad. Rosa Talamantes, 87, Deming resident passed away Wednesday November 29, 2023 in Las Cruces. Visitation will take place at Saint Ann's Catholic Church on Tuesday December 5, 2023 at 9 o'clock in the morning where recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10 o'clock led by her sister Teresa Duran. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11 o'clock with interment to follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, Father Aloysius Orekie officiating. Rosa was born in Saucillo, Chihuahua, Mexico to Ramona Munoz and Juan Duran. She moved to Deming in 1963 where she's been a resident since. Rosa was a devoted member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister and a member of The Apostolado as well. She was a woman of faith, strong, independent and family oriented. Rosa treasured her family and friends, she had a beautiful soul, and enjoyed being outside working in her yard and spending time in church. She is survived by her daughters; Norma Valdez (Mike Leyba) and Irene (Gilbert) Pacheco, grandchildren Arthur (Jackie) Valdez, Anthony Pacheco, Teresa (Riley) Roman and Jaime (Valerie) Pacheco, great-grandchildren; Jocelyn, Jasmine, Leroy, Leyla, Arlene and Ariana Valdez, Anaiah Pacheco and Evan Roman, great-great-grandchild Camila Chavez. Preceding her in death include her parents Juan Duran and Ramona Munoz, husband Agustin Talamantes, son Angel Talamantes, grandson Gabriel Valdez and siblings Ramon, Luis and Carmela Duran. Amalia E. Roman, age 100, of Las Cruces, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 15, 2023 at her family home surrounded by her family members. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandma, great grandma, great-great grandma. She was born in La Mesa, NM to Carmen Enriquez on September 27, 1923. She married Marcos V. Roman on January 15, 1946, in their hometown of Ft Worth, Texas. She served as a homemaker for several years. Amalia is preceded in death by her husband, Marcos, her mother Carmen Enriquez, her brothers Alberto, Alfredo, Lorenzo "Pecas", and her sisters Francisca "Kika" Limon, Eulogia Parra, Maria Ramirez, her daughter Alicia "Licha", her sons Raymundo, Higinio "Eugene", Alejandro "Alex". Amalia was the last of the Enriquez siblings. Those left to mourn her passing are her daughters Celia Hernandez (Easey), Carmen Borunda (Ray), Helen Sanchez (Joe), Irene Roman (Bobby), Linda Saenz (Sammy), Dora Roman (Orlando), Yolanda Villegas all of Las Cruces and her sons Willie (Yolanda), Marcos Jr and Santiago Roman. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Eugene Roman Jr, Willie Roman Jr, Alex "Boy" Roman Jr, Ray Joseph Roman Jr, Johnny Ezekiel "Jay" Briseno and Sammy "Kiddo" Saenz Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert (Bam) Hernandez Jr. , Ishmael Villegas and Marcos Roman Jr. Visitation services will be held on Tuesday December 5th, 2023 at 9:00 am followed by a Celebration of Life service at 10:00 am.
