Ulyses Unser Obituary

Ulyses (LA) A. Unser died peacefully at HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital on 29 September 2023 at the age of 68. Ulyses is survived by his father, Ulyses Sowell, Arkansas; his son, Joshua Unser and grandson, Justin Unser, Lutz Florida and granddaughter, Catalina Kilgore, Lakeland, Florida. Ulyses is also survived by 12 siblings: James Sowell, Margaret Sowell, Rosemary Sowell, Richard Sowell, Barbara Sowell, Raymond Sowell, Joe Sowell, Sandi Martin, and Mildred Sowell who all live in Arkansas; Katharina Davis and Marilyn Forsyth, Valrico, Florida; and Nancy Boyd, Queen Creek, Arizona. Ulyses is preceded in death by his mother, Frida Unser. Ulyses was born on 29 October 1954 in Heilbronn, Germany to Ulyses Sowell and Frida Unser. He lived in Tampa, Florida until he was 10 years old. After which he moved to Arkansas and lived there until he was old enough to move back to Tampa, Florida. After graduating from high school, he began working as a professional meat cutter for markets in Tampa, Florida selling high quality meats. He continued in this field until he retired in 2014. Ulyses was married to Mabel Pruitt in 1988 and in January 1989, Joshua was born. Ulyses can be remembered as a kind, sensitive, and gentle soul. He also had a great sense of humor. He can be remembered for the way he would make people laugh and joke about. Ulyses loved his son, Joshua, so very much and when he could, he would spend all his spare time with him. He also loved his grandchildren and wanted to have a special relationship with them. More than anything, he wanted them to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Ulyses was a generous individual who was passionate about helping those less fortunate than himself, especially the homeless. He had a special place in his heart for them. To past the time and when Ulyses had a chance, he would visit Picnic Island to watch the sunset. There, he would enjoy its beauty! A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 15 October 2023, 2:00 PM, at the Blount & Curry Life Event Center, 605 S. MacDill Ave. , Tampa, Florida, with a reception to follow. Chaplain William Lang will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ulyses' life.
