Troy Edwin Schoeneberg, 37, met his heavenly father Saturday, June 11, 2022, after a tragic accident. Troy was born on February 8, 1985 in El Campo to Donna Reck Schoeneberg and James Schoeneberg. After graduating from El Campo High School and a couple of years working at the El Campo Cycle Center, Troy chose to serve his country and joined the United States Marine Corps. He served in the First Battalion, Third Marines, Alpha Company and did two tours of duty in Iraq. As a squad leader, he was proud of his service, loved his buddies, and was highly regarded by his fellow Marines. After returning home, Troy followed his dreams and worked diligently going to school at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, earning a degree in Radiology. He then worked as a radiologist for Southwest Orthopedic Group in Sugarland for several years until his father needed his help managing the El Campo Cycle Center. Troy, a gifted mechanic, loved working with bikes as well as being an enthusiastic outdoorsman. He loved to camp, kayak, hunt, fish and most of all, ride bikes. Even more, he loved being with his family and friends. Troy was a dedicated son, visiting, planning, and often cooking some great and original meals with his mother. Troy was devoted to his daughter, Alex, and cherished the time he spent with her. He was a great father and loved his daughter with his whole being. Troy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Evelyn and William Reck, Anna Ruth and Edwin Schoeneberg, his uncle, Arthur Schoeneberg, and his aunt, Denise Reck. Troy is survived by his mother, Donna Schoeneberg, father and stepmother, James and Pam Schoeneberg, his daughter, Alexandra You, all of El Campo, his aunts and uncles, Alyse Grier of El Campo, Patsy and Mitchell Smith of Garwood, Bennie and Patsy Reck of Louise, Patricia and William Loocke of Wharton, Daniel Reck, Stanley and Debbie Reck of El Campo, Veronica and Joseph Atterberry of LaMarque, and Edward Reck of Louise as well as a number of cousins. He leaves behind innumerable friends. He was especially close to friends and their families, Wade and Lisa Knight of Damon, Robert Paul of San Antonio, Josh Barnes of Friendswood, Chris and Nikki Mason of Needville, Matt and Sam Bena of Louise, Laney Sy of Wharton and Ursula Goodley. A Celebration of Life for Troy will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 4:00 p. m. at Grace Point Community Church, 820 West Loop, El Campo, Texas 77437. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Troy's favorite organizations, Serve Outdoors Matagorda Bay Chapter, which assists disabled individuals, veterans, disabled veterans, youth, special needs folks and the elderly experience the great outdoors on hunting and fishing adventures.
