Tonya Delgado, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed away at Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, Texas on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Tonya was born in Garden City, Kansas on May 23, 1972 to Raymond Delgado and Dolores Moreno. She graduated from Garden City Senior High in 1990 and went on to attend Garden City Community College before eventually continuing her education at Wichita State University. In 2015, she moved to Dumas, Texas where she served as a well-respected City Secretary for the City of Dumas. Her past employment included Medical Records & Receptionist at Garden Medical Clinic/St. Catherine Hospital and City Clerk for the City of Deerfield. Tonya was best known for her silly humor, outgoing personality, and the kindness she offered to everyone and everything around her. She lived an extraordinary life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She could brighten anyone's day with her contagious laugh and smile. Tonya was always surrounded with love, spending most of her time with her cat, family, friends, and grandsons. When Tonya wasn't with family, she enjoyed serving the community by volunteering and donating blood. In 2017, she was awarded Hospice Volunteer of the Year! Tonya also enjoyed exploring the outdoors, sports, traveling, shopping, cooking, planning events, getting dressed up, listening to music, roller skating, and dancing. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Mary Delgado, Juan and Santos Moreno; and nephew, Alvaro Delgado-Escobedo. She is survived by her daughters, Shaurice, Lorena, and Mireya; beloved cat, Maynie Sue; grandchildren, Emilio and Jayden; her sisters, Mona Escobedo and Alicia Delgado; her brother, Ramon Delgado; her parents, Raymond Delgado and Dolores Moreno; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Cornerstone Church with Pastor Raul Silva as Officiant. The burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery.
