Toni Ann MatassaToni Ann Matassa was born on August 19, 1957 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Anthony Joseph and Rita Tobler Graffagnini. On June 16, 1978, she married Vince Matassa in New Orleans, Louisiana. Toni loved animals, especially her German Shepherds and horses. She had a knack for interior design along with a passion for cooking and entertaining. Her amazing recipes were often sought after by those who had the privilege of enjoying a meal or two. An avid traveler, both domestically and internationally, Toni loved learning about new cultures and helping the local economies with her shopping. She especially enjoyed spending time at the beach with friends and family. She was a very active member of the Saint Faustina Catholic Church community, as well as the Chilterns American Women's Club. Toni was a kind, generous and compassionate woman who always enjoyed helping others. She was truly thankful for the great friends and family that surrounded her until the very end. Toni Ann Matassa passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022, in Houston, at the age of 64. She is survived by her husband, Vince Matassa of Katy; daughter, Victoria Bercek and her husband William of Gig Harbor, Washington; son, Vincent Matassa, Jr. and his wife Kristen of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; sisters, Gayle Thibodeaux, Linda Mistretta and her husband Ralph, all residents of Slidell, Louisiana; granddaughters, Eleanor and Annamae Bercek and Remi Matassa; her German Shepherd, Dixie; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p. m. to 2:00 p. m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the St. Faustina Catholic Church, in Fulshear, where mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p. m. with Rev. Dat Hoang, Celebrant. Further services and burial will take place in Louisiana at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial gifts may do so in the name of Toni Matassa to the Greater Houston German Shepherd Rescue, Great Houston German Shepherd Dog Rescue, or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
