Todd Glen McClain, 63, of Crossett, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023. He was born on June 24, 1960, to his parents, R. E. and Nora Cunningham McClain, was a lifelong resident of Ashley County, and served honorably in the U. S. Army National Guard. For many years he worked at the Berry Meat Packing Plant then went on to finish out his career at Ram-Fab in Crossett. Todd enjoyed camping, fishing, and tinkering with small engines and other things. He was a quiet man with a big generous heart who loved his family and friends and had a talent for making people laugh. Outdoors is where Todd found his solace, and he was always happiest somewhere on a riverbank or just sitting on his porch admiring God's handiwork. Todd loved his family and friends and was affectionately called, "Uncle Todd" by many. He will forever be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Phyllis Long and Kendra Coody, and one grandson, Jacen McClain. He leaves behind his long-time partner, Alice Smith of Crossett; his four children, Cara Primm (Michael) and Felicia Cole both of Clute, TX, and Justin and Kelsey McClain both of Crossett; along with one sister, Gina Meziere of Crossett; four brothers, Monte McClain (Sheila), Keith McClain, and Ricky McClain also of Crossett, and Douglas McClain of Minden, LA; and seven grandchildren. Larry Donald Cook, 83, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was born in West Haven, NY, on January 31, 1940, to his parents, Donald and Mary Willsey Cook. He was raised in New York, only forty miles from the Canadian border and was a 1956 graduate of Greenville High School. Larry's journey took a patriotic turn when he enlisted in the US Air Force in 1957, proudly serving his country. Following his military service, he transitioned into the world of commercial construction, working for KDA Construction where he helped build numerous large financial institutions and other businesses. Larry could build anything out of wood with his skilled hands and keen eye for detail, earning him a reputation as a talented craftsman whose creations stand as a testament to his passion and talent. A devoted family man, Larry's love knew no bounds. He adored his wife, children, and extended family, but his heart expanded even more with the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who became the apples of his eye. Larry's delicious biscuits and gravy was known as a family favorite and cooking for his family was something he enjoyed greatly. A man of diverse interests, Larry was also an avid coin collector, history buff, and bargain shopper, but most of all, Larry was a genuine man of faith. His spirituality was a guiding force in his life, and his impact on the lives he touched resonates in the hearts of those who had the privilege of calling him a friend, family member, or neighbor. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tim Billings "Cook"; one brother, Earl Cook; and two sisters, Phyllis Turmel and Donna Buomo. He leaves behind his wife of twenty-four years, Judy Barnett Cook; four sons, Dale Billings "Cook" (Cathy) of Arizona, Larry Cook, Jr. (Rachael) of Carrolton, GA, Greg Cook (Robin) also of Carrolton, GA, and Joey Barnett (Micki) of Crossett; four daughters, Brenda Keith (Ron) of Alabama, Juanita McLendon (Kenny) of Douglasville, GA, Peggy Cowan (James) also of Douglasville, GA and Traci Fitch (Brandon) of Crossett; siblings, Lela Spencer, Linda Burke, Kathleen Winnie, Barbara "Barbie" Constanzo, and Michael Cook; twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Marlon D'Angelo Moore, age 43 of Crossett, AR, died Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Ashley County Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, and was employed as a Master Tech at Georgia-Pacific Paper Mill. He was preceded in death by his father Marvin Angelo Moore, paternal grandparents, Ellis and Mildred Moore, and maternal grandparents, Leon and Deloris Whaley. Marlon attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and was proud to have been a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks football team. He loved coaching little league sports, rodeo, and his horse "Cash". He was a member of "Pony Express". He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed football, baseball, basketball, and playing dominoes. He is survived by his wife of four years, Shonta Griffin Moore, two daughters, Mackenzie Moore of Conway, AR, and McKinsley Moore of Crossett, AR: five sons, Marlon D'Angelo Moore, Jr. , McKinley D'Ellis Moore, Tayshawn L. Paskel, Taylin L. Paskel, and Tyler L. Paskel all of Crossett, AR: one sister, Conshata and husband Keary Walls of Houston, TX, his mother Bettye Whaley Moore of Crossett, AR, aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Visitation will be Friday December 8, 2023, at Cromwell Funeral Home 5:30-7:00 P. M. Funeral service is Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 11:00 A. Bill Browning, 80, of Crossett, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023. He was born on August 15, 1943, to his parents, Luther and Lillian McCaughan Browning. He was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a 1961 graduate of Crossett High School, and a member of South Main Baptist Church. After completing three years of honorable service in the United States Navy, Bill returned to his roots and dedicated nearly four decades of his professional life to Georgia Pacific. After retirement, he joined the G4S Security team, and with an unwavering work ethic, he committed himself to the safeguarding of others. Bill's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He consistently ensured that his family attended church, imparting the values of love, faith, and community to those closest to him. His role as a provider and a guiding force was evident not only in his professional life but also in the way he nurtured his family. Bill found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in the company of his beloved dogs and the tranquility of the outdoors. A former deer hunter, Bill appreciated the beauty of nature and spent countless hours tinkering in his workshop, where he crafted unique and personalized belt buckles. His creative spirit and knack for finding value in odd, random items were testament to his ingenuity. Above all, Bill cherished his family and friends. Known as a great daddy, he created lasting memories through family vacations and quality time spent together. His warm and welcoming spirit made him a cherished friend to many, and his genuine love for people was a testament to the impact he had on those around him. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years, Linda Barnett Browning; and four brothers, Denzil, Kenneth, Jim, and Edward Browning. Larry Eldridge Ford, Sr. , 72, of Crossett, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He was born in Dyess, Arkansas, on August 16, 1951, and spent his formative years in Palmersville, TN, where he graduated from Palmersville High School in 1970. During his high school years, he shined on the basketball court as a star player and was an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). After graduating, Larry moved to Crossett, Arkansas, where he dedicated approximately twenty-five years of his life working for Georgia Pacific. Larry's love for music was a constant thread throughout his life. He enjoyed both listening to and playing music, with the bass guitar being his instrument of choice. His musical talents brought joy to those around him and became a cherished part of his legacy. Rooted in the values instilled during his childhood on the family farm in Palmersville, Larry developed a deep affection for animals. He spent his early years tending to the farm animals, a responsibility that fostered his lifelong commitment to the well-being of all creatures, especially dogs. Known as a gentle giant, Larry was always willing to lend a helping hand and brought his charming personality and sense of humor to every situation. Larry was a Christian who held a profound love for the Lord. The salvation of his family was of utmost importance to him, and his faith provided a guiding light throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his father, Eldridge Ford; his mother, Wanda Helen Lawrence; and grandparents, Warner and Opal Hargraves. He leaves behind one son, Larry Ford, Jr. (Rebecca) of Gray, GA, and one brother, Ronnie Ford (Cynthia) of Crossett; along with four grandchildren, Zachary Ford, Logan Ford, Dillon Byrd, and Tate Richardson; and two great-grandchildren, Fraya and Kevin Byrd. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a. m. , Wednesday, November 22nd, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Andy Connard, officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Mary Elizabeth (Mae) Hagood McDaniel age 93, of Crossett passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Crossett and graduated from Crossett High School in 1947. She was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church where she was a member of the "Snails", a group for widows. She was employed by Tri-State Mill Supply for 23 years. When she retired, she started keeping children in her home and worked for Magnolia Baptist Church as a paid nursery worker for about 5 years. She also baked and decorated cakes for the public for about 5 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Faben McDaniel, her parents, Agnes (Walser) and Hoyle (Preacher) Hagood, and her sister Virginia (Hagood) McElroy (Jamie) and many other relatives. She is survived by her son, Steve McDaniel (Shirley) of Crossett, two granddaughters, Tara McDaniel, of Malvern,AR and Miriam Beverly (Michael) of Crossett, four great-grandchildren Shay Roland, Aaliyah Dodd, Malyki McDaniel all of Crossett and Matthew Drennon of Trafelgar, Indiana as well as one Great Great-Grandson, Liam Zarate also of Crossett. She had a very special niece, Susanne (McElroy) Ballard whom she loved like a daughter and many other nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be on Saturday, November 18th at 2:00 p. m. , at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Mike Griffith and Bro. Ernest King, officiating. A private interment at Crossroads Cemetery will be held at a later date.
