Timothy M. Logan, a life-long resident and business owner on the west side of Indianapolis, died peacefully on the evening of Tuesday September 5, 2023, from a combination of heart and kidney failure. Tim’s final week in hospice were spent at home in his favorite recliner. He was lovingly cared for by his wife, Rita Logan, and surrounded by his 5 sons, grandchildren, brother, John, and sisters, Nancy and Amy, extended family, and many of his close friends. He was exactly where he wished to be in his final moments. Tim was born on October 31, 1948, and spent most of his childhood living in the near westside neighborhood, Eagledale. He often reminisced of his early years growing up in a family of 6 (3 boys and 3 girls), and told wild tales of the friends made while playing sports, delivering the Indy Star, working at the A&P, but mostly just being young and adventurous. It was during this time that Tim met his future wife, Rita. He remained friends with so many from his youth, and regularly met up with them at some of his favorite places and events like, the American Legion, VFW, and Westlake reunion. After graduating from Cathedral High School in 1966, Tim and Rita were married April 15, 1968. By this time, Tim had already enlisted in the Army, and went on to proudly serve in the 101st Airborne Division, 3rd/187th with one tour in Vietnam (1968-1969). On April 25, 1969, Tim earned the Bronze Star for his heroic efforts during the assault on Hill 1325, (later known as Firebase Airborne). From May 10-20, 1969, he valiantly participated in the Battle of Dong Ap Bia, or my commonly known, "Hamburger Hill". He received a second Bronze Star presented to him in July 1969 for meritorious ground operations. These battles, while more than 50 years ago, would continue to define his life by remaining in touch with those he served alongside, and the passion he had for serving and assisting others. Tim returned from his tour at the end of 1969 where along with Rita went on to raise 5 boys. Tim started a career in the printing industry working at Deluxe Check Printing, and later BioDynamics. In the early 1980’s he opened his own print shop, Business Cards of Indiana. After moving his family back to Eagledale, his passion for entrepreneurial endeavors would continue owning and operating businesses in home construction, roofing, bars/restaurants, nightclubs and real estate. Later, moving further west to Brownsburg, Tim successes afforded him the ability to contribute to passions and charities ranging from city/county/township political campaigns, countless youth organizations, health initiatives, and sport leagues. Most importantly his business successes allowed him to retire early and spend time doing what he enjoyed most, traveling to stay in cabins in Gatlinburg, TN and spending time with Rita, his boys and many grandkids. He never asked for much but was extremely giving. To the very end, Tim’s primary concern was reliving worry, stress and pain from those around him. His true skill was as an amazing storyteller. His deep voice and wonderful laugh made every interaction with him memorable. Tim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rita Logan; sons, Shawn P. Logan, Rian J. Logan, Michael J. Logan, Christopher T. Logan, Timothy Kevin Logan; grandchildren, Bailee A. Logan, Harrison S. Logan, Athena E. Logan, Sean G. Logan, John Elliott Logan, Claudia M. Logan, Joshua M. Logan, Christopher Brady Logan, Alanna M. Logan, Addielyn J. Logan, Cian J. Bosar, Sebastian O’Neill, Oriane Tannery, Ella Ross; siblings, Nancy Harrison (Logan), Amy M. Israel (Logan), John B. Logan; proceed in death; parents, John J. Logan Jr. , Elizabeth J. Logan (Okey); siblings, Laura Frazier (Logan), Daniel J. Logan. Irish Blessing May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. And rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again,May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
