Timothy Wayne Rice "Tim" age 59 husband of Susan Arnett Rice of Betsy Layne passed away from this life on Tuesday April 23, 2019 in Martin County, Kentucky. Tim was born on December 30, 1959 in Betsy Layne a son of the late Cecil and Leabelle Slone Rice. Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and mentor, he devoted his life to education. At the time of his death Tim was the head Coach for Sheldon Clark girls basketball team, having previously been the head coach for the Pulaski County Southern girls basketball team for 9 years, he has been a teacher, basketball coach a softball coach from schools from John M. Stumbo, Betsy Layne High School to Alice Lloyd College and truly enjoyed every minute of his 40 plus year career. Along with his wife Tim is survived by his Children: Tasha Rice Haley and her husband Chase of Betsy Layne, Kyle Rice of Prestonsburg and Eric Rice and his wife Jeanie of Wichester; his grandchildren: William Cash Haley and McKenna Claire Haley both of Betsy Layne, Timothy Jaxon Rice of Prestonsburg and Kennedy Anne Rice of Wincherster and one more on the way; alson he is survived by two brothers: Garay Rice and his wife of Teaberry and Bruce Rice of Betsy Layne: and two sisters: Linda Carol Samons and her husband Coy of Ocala, Florida and Brenda Kaye Campbell and her husband Chuck of Pikeville. Tim with his parent is preceded in death by one brother: Ronald Rice. Visitation for Mr. Rice will be held Thursday April 25, 2019 after 6pm at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Martin and all day Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 27, 2019 at 11am at the D.W. Howard Field House (256 School Str. Betsy Layne, Kentucky 41605) Betsy Layne with viewing starting at 10am on Saturday at the gymnasium. Pastor Barry Clark will be officiating. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his honor to the Tim Rice Scholarship Fund through BB&T Bank.
