"Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Church for Tim Butler, 67, of Gadsden, who died Saturday September 9, 2023. Rev. Roy Daugherty will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Tim was employed with Heckett multi serve as a mechanic and equipment operator for his time at the Steel Plant. At the closure of the Steel Plant, he went to Georgia Pacific Sawmill as a millwright until retirement. He made many friends over the years. Tim was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Church. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandkids. He loved being outdoors, sitting on the porch and working with old trucks. Tim is preceded in death by his parents, George and Bettie Butler and sister Amy Butler. He is survived by his wife LouAnn Butler, sons, Barrett (Kelley) Butler and Ross Butler; grandchildren Jayce, Grady, Kloey and Tucker; sister-in-law Lisa (Brent) Foreman and other extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be Scott Nelson, Andrew Freeman, Lee Hicks, Evan Foreman, Easton Foreman, Ethan Foreman, Tyler White and Darin Long. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Hicks, Gary Daniels, Danny Day, Irran Butler and David Smith. Special thanks to the Critical Care staff of Riverview Regional Medical Center, the flight team and CCU staff of Baroness Erlanger Hospital, Chattanooga, TN. "On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Jesus called Mrs. Edith Adelle Morris, age 99, to her heavenly home. We can only imagine the joyful moment she was reunited with her Mother, Hester Lee Cahela and others who went before her. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dean Riley, and brother, Cecil Cahela. And most of all, she is now in the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior whom she loved and served. She was a long standing member of Noccalula Church of God. Gadsden, AL. Mrs. Morris was a well known prayer warrior for her family and friends. If she said she would pray for you, then you could count on it. She went to Trade School after high school graduation from Susan Moore. She went to work in 1944 at Brookley Field in Mobile, Alabama during World War II where she worked as a civilian aircraft electrician. She was a true Rosie the Riveter. She also worked many years as a finance manager in Alabama City on Wall Street. Mrs. Morris was known to love everyone she met. She always had a hug and a big smile when she saw the special people in her life. She was the queen of making others feel special. We are going to miss her so much. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Morris Lindsey; son-in-law, Tommy Lindsey; (3) grandchildren: grandson, Brandon (Holly Beavers) Lindsey; granddaughter, Karon Lindsey (Chris) Sullivan; grandson, Matthew (Heather Butler) Lindsey; (8) great-grandchildren: Kaylee Lindsey (Coley) McGowan, Kendall Lindsey, Ryan Sullivan, Joshua Kimbril, Lindsey Kimbril, Brandon Sullivan, Chloe Lindsey, and Adelyn Lindsey; (3) great-great-grandchildren, Ridge, Reece, and River McGowan. The family will receive friends from 5 p. m. until 8 p. m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, and Sunday from 12:30 p. m until the time of the service. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Robert Stephens, age 62, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Robert was born in AL. Robert made sure everyone was always taken care of. He spent his younger days traveling around the world. He drove a truck and worked in a warehouse for 30 years, he always loved to work. He never met a stranger, and loved everyone so much. He always made everyone laugh, and wanted to best for everyone. His favorite days of all was spending every weekend, and summer break with his best friend/grandson Channing Minyard. He was always thankful and grateful for everything everyone did for him. Robert lived for his grandkids, any time with them was special. Time was precious to him, he valued every minute. He served in the Marines Corps from 1980-1984. He loved to play cards, eat at new restaurants, and grill out. He loved to sit outside for hours. In 1979 he was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School. He would give you the shirt off of his back. He could talk for hours about his kids and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Stephens; father, John Stephens; brother, Steve Stephens; sister, Yasmin Stephens. He was survived by daughters, Emily (Blaine) Minyard and Brooklyn Stephens; grandchildren, Bayleigh, Levi, Destiny, Channing, Aibl and Emery Minyard; sister, Yolande Justice and a host of nieces and nephews, and cousins. And longtime friend and ex-spouse, Jeanine Stephens. Pallbearers will be Shane Stephens, Chris Edwards, Shell Gaylor, Dakota Minyard, Adam Chandler, and Colton Arflack. With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Eddie Lee Witherspoon, Columbia, SC formerly of Gadsden, AL, who traded time for eternity on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at the age of 88. Sergeant Major Eddie L. Witherspoon Sr. , US Army, Retired, was born on May 26, 1935, in Demopolis, Alabama to the parentage of the late George Witherspoon and Louise Mostiller. His faith and confession in Christ began in his youth in Demopolis and continued with him being an active member and Deacon at First Missionary Baptist Church in Alabama City. He established a mentorship group called the Moses Project because he believed in mentoring the youth of today. Especially young men who seemed troubled and going down the wrong path in life. Spoon as he was called by his friends received his formal education in the Alabama public school system. He graduated from Carver High School in Attalla, AL. Upon graduation, Spoon joined the United States Army where he served honorably for 25 plus years. He retired from the Army with the rank of Sergeant Major. After retirement from the Army, Spoon was employed as a District Manager for Reynolds Aluminum Recycling in Columbia, SC. He moved to Macon, Ga. , and was employed as a semi-trailer truck driver. An avid sports fan, the Atlanta Braves was his favorite baseball team and the Auburn Tigers his favorite college football team. Spoon was a loving and devoted family man. He will be sorely missed and will always hold a special place in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know and love him. On Thursday, November 23, 2023, Spoon departed this life at Rice Creek Estates Nursing Home in Columbia, SC. He is survived by his wife, Forrestine Witherspoon of Columbia, SC; six children, Larry (Benita) Denmark of Keyser, WV, Clara Louise Witherspoon of Auburn, AL, Karen Witherspoon of Columbia, SC, Wanda Ford of Columbia, SC, Eddie L. Witherspoon Jr. , of Dallas, TX, and Command Sergeant Major Calvin (Zina) Witherspoon, US Army, Retired, of Blythewood, SC; two sisters, Florence Green of Birmingham, AL and Resaca Mostella of Attalla, AL; ten grandchildren, Raeven Davis and Xavier Witherspoon of Tacoma, WA, Deion Richardson of Dallas, TX, Stephanie Witherspoon of Avinger, TX, Ebony and Jazzmine Johnson of Columbia, SC, Justin Denmark of Norfolk, Va, LaQenton Jones of Charlotte, NC, Iesha Ford of Lorton, Virginia and Anita Witherspoon of Auburn, AL; special friends, Gloria (Bobby) Price of Centre, AL and Jessie Groce of Gadsden, AL; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
