James Walter Brooksher, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on February 24, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on November 19, 1955, in Dahlonega, James was the son of the late Johnnie Brooksher and Eva Mae Thompson Brooksher.In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Brooksher and Tim Brooksher.He is survived by his siblings Linda (Terry) Bryan of Anchorage, Alaska, Dennis (Sheila) Brooksher of Dawsonville, Brenda (Lamar) Gaddis of Dawsonville, Kenneth (Carolyn) Brooksher of Cornelia, Patricia (Lawrence) Rund of Murrayville, Ray Brooksher of Dahlonega, and Mary (Danny) Grizzle of Dahlonega; sisters-in-law's Kathy Brooksher and Teresa Brooksher; and special friend, Phil Smith. James leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives who will deeply miss him.James was known for his affable nature, always wearing a warm smile and effortlessly making connections with others. He never met a stranger, and his kindness touched the lives of everyone he encountered. His infectious spirit and genuine personality endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.In accordance with his wishes, James will be cremated. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lyman Caldwell and the Rev. Dalton Deloizer officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. John Benjamin Fields, age 76, of Dahlonega passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family.John is a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was born on December 1, 1947, to the late Rev. Barney and Donnie Belle Fields. John was raised in a wonderful Christian home with his sister Sarah Fields Pittman. Now the Rev. Barney Fields family is together once again as John walked into Heaven. Those who also greeted John in Heaven were his father-in-law and mother-in-law Elisha and Selena Corn. nephews Korey and Joshua Godfrey, his brothers-in-law Hugh Smith, and Bobby Pittman, and good friend Larry Banister. From being a huge cut-up to extending a helping hand, John Fields was a man you loved to see coming. In the heart and eyes of his girls, John was the best dad and “Papa” you could ever imagine. His favorite hobbies were whatever his beloved grandchildren were doing at the time. John devoted his life to serving Lumpkin County through his company Fields Monument and Grave and Vault Service. He has been there to help lay many of his precious friend’s loved ones to rest in cemeteries all over the area. John did it with love and care. He was deeply loved by his community and was a friend to the entire Lumpkin County, who will be greatly missed.Missing him most will be his wife, of 51 years, Joyce Fields, Dahlonega; children Nicole and Rob Reh, Cumming; Candi and Ashley Wilkins, Dahlonega; Jodi and Jim Ligon, Dahlonega; grandchildren Kylie Reh (Robert Fain), Nicholas Reh, John-Robert Reh, Abram Wilkins, Elin Wilkins, Scooter Ligon, sister-in-law Joan Smith; niece Sheri Hooper; several other relatives and numerous friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Cavenders Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Stephen Adams and the Rev. Danny Jarrard will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the Rev. Phillip Robinson officiating. The family prayer will be prayed by the Rev. Lyman Caldwell. Archie Clyde Gaddis was born on October 15, 1944, to John Alexander “Zanders” Gaddis and Maybell Black Gaddis. He passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his nieces Hannah Marie Gailey and Dana Catherine Gaddis.He worked for the local telephone company for 39 years and enjoyed playing music with his co-workers and friends in his spare time. He was a member of the Remember When Band and played many local concerts over the years. In his younger days he was also employed by L. D. Grindle as a truck driver delivering milk. This job provided the perfect cover for marrying his wife, Ann Edwards Gaddis, who left her home early one morning to accompany Clyde on his milk route in 1964.His warm smile was a joy to his family and friends. He was dependable. He always showed up when his family and friends needed a helping hand.He is survived by his wife, Ann Edwards Gaddis, his daughter Gerri Gaddis Smith and son-in-law Chris Smith, his son Roman Gaddis and daughter-in-law Andrea Conarro Gaddis, and his grandchildren Owen Woody, Patrick Woody, Cecilia Woody and Tessa June Gaddis. He is also survived by his brothers Dennis Gaddis, Johnny (Deb) Gaddis, Wayne (Angie) Gaddis, sister Tessa (Mark) Gailey and several nieces and nephews, who love him dearly.Visitation will be Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson Underwood Funeral Home in Dahlonega, Georgia. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Dahlonega, Georgia. The Rev. Kris Butler and the Rev. Dorothy “Joyce” Harkins Satterfield, age 81 of Dahlonega, GA passed away on February 19, 2024 after a brief illness.Joyce was born in White County, GA on May 23, 1942 to the late Charlie and Berbie Robinson Harkins and lived all of her life in Dahlonega. She married Robert Satterfield on November 30, 1962. She was a loving wife, sister and “Mama Joyce” to many. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and loved Jesus. She loved going fishing, hunting and camping. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States with friends and family. She retired from Torrington and the Lumpkin County Finance Department and then worked part time for Floyd Wimpy.Joyce was preceded in death by her sister Betty Garrett.Joyce is survived by her husband of 61 years Robert Satterfield, sisters and brothers-in-law Joan & Johnny Justus and Geraldine & CF Collins, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 4:00-8:00 PM and Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 12:00 PM-1:45 PM at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. Peggy Rebecca Kemp, age 67, known as “Peb” to those who loved her most, passed away peacefully at her home on February 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Sonny and Gloria Kemp, her brother Sammy Kemp, and brother-in-law Jerry Burruss.She is survived by her daughter, Beth Swenson, and son-in-law, Dane, along with her six cherished grandchildren: Bryce Barrett, Lisa, Brian, Boone, Lyla, and Cody Swenson, his wife Olevia, and great-granddaughter, Harper. She is also survived by her sisters, Stacey Kemp, Sandra Dorsey and her husband, David, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Special acknowledgement with love and immense appreciation to Diane Keith Andreasen, her cousin, dear friend and devoted caregiver.Peggy grew up in Murrayville, Georgia working in her family’s businesses, the Murray Burger and the Village Pantry before dedicating forty-two years of her life to Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. After a brief two-week retirement, she began working part-time at the Murrayville Pharmacy. Peggy was a dedicated member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church, where she held many roles ranging from cleaning the church to preparing meals for the children’s program.Peggy played an integral role in the lives of her daughter's foster children, extending her love not only to them but also to their birth families.
