Born on January 15, 1953, in Camden, SC, Frederick was a devoted husband to his wife, Gwen Huckeriede.Throughout his life, Fred found joy in the simple pleasures, particularly hummingbirds, wind chimes and nature which brought him immense peace and tranquility. He was an avid and competitive runner. Fred's memory will forever be cherished by his friends, family, and colleagues. He will be remembered for his kind heart, warm presence, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. His legacy will live on in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.Fred is survived by his loving wife Gwen Huckeriede, his sister Meriam Crowson (Charles), his niece, nephews, and cousins. Fred will be cremated in a dignified ceremony befitting his service to his country as a veteran of the Army. Burial will follow at Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Born in Columbia, he was a son of Brenda Burkett Christopher and James P. Christopher, Jr. He loved to hunt, fish, and be outdoors. Everyone knew him for his smile and he had a very big heart for his family, especially his brothers. Steve was a jack of all trades and was forever known for picking flowers and placing them in a vase for his mother. "Joe Merdic Shaw, Jr. of Lexington died Thursday, February 8, 2024. He was born August 19, 1961, in Lancaster, SC. He was the son of the late Joe Merdic Shaw, Sr. and Charlotte Mullis Shaw. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School class of ’79 where he played football, baseball, and track \u0026amp; field. He received a BS degree in Health and Education from the University of South Carolina class of ’84. He worked at Bowater in Rock Hill, SC for 22 years and the last 5 years at Security Management of SC. Joe was a die-hard Gamecock fan, a faithful gym rat, a dog lover, and always had a positive outlook on life and was an inspiration to many. Joe was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo, SC. He is survived by his mother, his wife Melanie, his stepdaughter Emily Merritt, and by his former wife Terri Fleming and their daughter JoAnna Shaw, and many cousins. The memorial service for Mr. Shaw will be held at 1:30, Saturday February 17th at the Lancaster Funeral Home, 709 N White St., Lancaster, SC with Pastor Randy Hatcher and Pastor Jerry Freeman officiating. Martha Anne Boseski Obituary Martha Anne Boseski died on July 21 at Agape Hospice House in Lexington, SC. She was born in Charleston, the only child of Edward and Mary Boseski. Survivors include her oldest and most trusted friend, Kristina Krusmark of Homewood, Alabama. Martha Anne was an honor graduate of Ashley Hall School and Phi Beta Kappa at the University of South Carolina. She was fortunate to have studied at a variety of institutions, including the American Academy in Rome, Harvard University, Université Laval (Quebec) and the University of Georgia. She taught 35 years in South Carolina, from the mountains to the sea. She continued to tutor in her retirement and worked with students from PreK to college level. Always fearless in seeking knowledge, Martha Anne was compassionate in her care for others and beloved by her many pets. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Columbia, SC, where she served faithfully on the lay eucharistic visitor team. Her funeral will be held graveside at Christ Church Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, at 10am on Saturday, August 5th. The Rev. Dr. James Fraser Lyon IV will officiate. She was a dedicated and loyal employee of more than 10 years with Lloyd Buff Painting and Cleaning. She was a member of the National ASPCA and of the SCSPCA. Lexington – Violet Drafts Myers, 89, a couple months short of her 90th birthday, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, in Lexington, SC. Her family had been by her bed side for the last several days. Born in Gilbert, SC, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Vesta Kaminer Drafts. Violet was a member of Beulah Methodist Church in Gilbert, SC and also attended Mt Hebron UMC in West Columbia, SC. She had retired from Atlantic Greyhound Bus Lines and then again from Baptist Medical Center. Violet loved her family very much but she especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Violet was an avid fisherwoman and gardener. She loved fishing on Lake Murray and in Murrells Inlet, SC. She volunteered throughout her life and spent many years volunteering for the Tiny Greyhound Youth Football and South Little League Baseball in Winston-Salem, continuing to volunteer in retirement at Lexington Interfaith Community Services, Lexington, SC and visiting local assisted living facilities. Violet is survived by her sons, Gary Taylor (Von) Lexington, SC, Carl Huffstetler (Sherry) Charlotte, NC, and David Huffstetler (Angie)Lexington, SC; her brothers, Robert Drafts of Gilbert, Donald Drafts of Lexington, and Harry R. Drafts of Cleveland; sisters, Peggy Mills of Piedmont, and Sharon Besancon of Lexington; and her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Violet was predeceased by her husband, Herb Myers, her son, Terry Taylor, and her brothers, David Drafts and James Drafts. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Beulah United Methodist Church, 161 Beulah Church Road, Gilbert, SC, 29054. Pastor Tony Rowell will officiate. The family will have visitation and greet friends before the service in the church sanctuary prior to the service from 1:30-3:00. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Beulah Methodist Church or donate to the Alzheimer’s Association .
