Thomas H. "Big Daddy" Pechart, 66, of Dover passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 at his home surrounded by family after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Tom was a Snowcat Groomsman for Roundtop Mountain Resort. He was well known for his favorite saying: "Every Day is a Good Day, Brother!" He enjoyed spending time with his family the most. Big Dad's interests included boating, skiing, life on the river, life outdoors, music, dirt track racing, bowling, and spending time with his loving, loyal best friend Pluto. Tom took the time to appreciate the simpler things in life. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. Big Dad was very laid back, free spirited, and was one with nature. Tom was born March 15, 1957 in Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Pechart, and his second father, John Johnson and son, Mike DeArment He is survived by his wife, Bonnie L. Pechart; mother, Emily Johnson; son, Matt DeArment (Theresa); daughter, Heather DeArment-Rodriguez (Joe); grandchildren, Noah M. DeArment, Elle Varner (Bo), Kara Manning (Bremahr), Jasmine De Arment; and great-grandson, Brelen Manning; siblings, Dottie Fickes (Pete), Tim Pechart (Linda), Ron Pechart, John Johnson (Donna); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitations will be held from 5-7pm Thursday, 10/5 and 10-11am Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Funeral services will be held at 11am followed by burial in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Newberry Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses.

Ardith L. McClure, 84, of New Cumberland, was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. Ardith was a woman of strong faith with a love of music and was a member of Trinity Church of New Cumberland. Over her lifetime, she sang in choirs at several churches, and was an organist and pianist for congregations, including the First Church of God in New Cumberland. Her devotion to helping others included membership in the Stitchin’ Sisters ministry at Trinity Church where she knitted many beautiful prayer shawls for members of the church community in need. She was also a long-time member of Trinity Church’s Tuesday Morning Ladies’ Bible Study group. Ardith was proud to be an excellent homemaker and mother. She was well known for her skills in the kitchen, and her dishes often starred at community and family events. Once her children were grown, she worked in administrative support at Capital Blue Cross in Lemoyne. Ardith McClure was born in Yocumtown, York County, the daughter of the late Roy and Pearl (Smaling) Estep and was a 1956 graduate of New Cumberland High School. She is survived by her husband of more than 67 years, George Richard McClure; children, Rick McClure and wife Connie of Etters, Cynthia Gardner and husband Steve of Camp Hill, Kevin McClure and wife Christine of Glenmoore, PA and Jennifer McClure of Mechanicsburg; her brother Jay Estep of Douglassville, PA; six grandchildren, George McClure, III, Kyle McClure, Tyler Gardner, Matthew McClure, Mark McClure and Kaitlyn McClure; two great grandchildren, Brody and Carly McClure, and three step-great grandchildren, Lily, Blake, and Abby Schultz. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, November 30, 2023 in Trinity Church of New Cumberland, 415 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070 with Pastors Arun Andrews and Carl Ford Peterson officiating. Margaret Geiger

Age - 94

Margaret M. Geiger passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle, PA, at the age of 94. She was born on June 5, 1929, in Palmerton, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Nemeth) Donchez and was the youngest of their nine children. On December 28, 1957, Marge married Gerald D. Geiger at Sacred Heart Church in Palmerton. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before his death in 2018. She was raised in Palmerton and graduated from Stephen S. Palmer High School and the Allentown Business School. After working as both a legal secretary and a secretary for the N. J. Zinc Company, Marge worked for many years at the Palmerton library. An avid reader herself, she cherished the social opportunities the library afforded, forming lasting connections with patrons and colleagues while her husband Jerry served as Director. She also served as a volunteer for many years at Sacred Heart Church and school in addition to Palmerton Hospital where she was recognized for thousands of hours of volunteer time. She ran the hospital’s TV program in the 70’s and then later worked at the hospital gift shop. Marge and Jerry were part of the close-knit fabric of the community that they deeply loved. Marge is survived by her son, Gerard J. Geiger and his wife, Karen, of Stroudsburg PA, her daughter Juliet Altenburg and her husband, Robert Altenburg, of New Cumberland, PA, and her grandchildren, Dr. Emily Geiger of Mountainview, CA and Timothy Geiger of Stroudsburg, PA. Funeral Mass will be held on November 29, 2023, at 11:30 a. m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, PA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 4 p. m. to 6 p. m. at the Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland, PA. Ralph Earl Mikos Sr. , age 71, of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife Michelle, his children Ralph Earl Mikos Jr. , Richard Mikos and Diana Mikos and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ralph served his country in The United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a known handyman and quoted himself as "a jack of all trades, but a master of none!" Kyle Carrington, 27, of Alexandria VA, passed away Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. Kyle was born June 19th, 1996, in Alexandria, VA. Kyle is survived by his two parents, Judy Carrington, and Horace Carrington; his brother, Kody Carrington, his sister, Michelle Kimberly Carrington. Kyle was a very talented young motorcyclist who enjoyed days at the track. He has gathered over twenty 1st place medals all across the east coast. His hobbies included riding his bicycle throughout his hometown of Alexandria, and spending time with his family and close friends. Kyle also studied philosophy and loved to challenge theories. Kyle was a very kind, loving, genuine, and intelligent individual who will be loved and missed by many. Vondelle Davare

Age - 74

Vondelle Marie Davare, 74, of Etters, passed away in the early hours of Monday, November 6, 2023 at Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill. She was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Helen (Baliker) Weimer, born on October 5, 1949 in Morgantown, WV. Born and raised in West Viriginia, Von was a 1967 graduate of Morgantown High School. She would meet a young man named Dave Davare and the two would make an instant connection and marry a year after dating. With Dave enlisted in the Air Force, the two would travel the globe, living for a time in Italy, Montana and then Western Pennsylvania before settling in Etters in the early 1990s. Von spent time working as a kennel tech at VCA West Shore Animal Hospital and then on the food services staff at Fishing Creek Elementary School, West Shore School District. She would work several other clerical jobs in between but always made time to care for her aging mother and aunt, and raise her children. Von was an avid reader all her life – mystery novels were her favorite – and she was also active with the Friends of the Red Land Library, Etters. She was raised Catholic and exemplified her Christian values in the way she treated others; especially in the way she cared for her family. She loved her husband and her boys, and in recent years, she looked forward to Sunday morning Skype calls with her grandchildren in Arizona. She and Dave enjoyed traveling, and Von always loved trips to the seashore. She will be especially missed by several lifelong and longtime friends whom she loved dearly. Surviving is her husband of 54 years, David William Davare; her sons, David W. Davare Jr. of Etters and M. Anthony Davare (wife, Dafney) of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Romi and Ryker, also of Tucson, AZ; a brother-in-law, Mark Davare of South Park; and a niece, Ashley Davare of Pittsburgh. In accordance with Von’s wishes, there will be no public viewing or services. Inurnment will take place at a future date in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Charles Weldon

Charles Weldon died peacefully in his sleep at Capitol Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center on November 7. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Cathryn; his daughter and son-in-law, Mischelle & Jerry Moyer; and his two grandsons Bailey and Owen Moyer—all were the lights of his life. Known to those who loved him as "Tipper" or "Poppy," he was a simple man. Tip loved his family, his Harleys, and his cigarettes. He would nonchalantly challenge you to a game a billiards; run the table and act "lucky. " He was an excellent pool player. Tip grew up in and around Harrisburg and was a man of many talents. He was an exceptional mechanic, and at different times in his life, worked in several garages and body shops. Vehicles and Harley Davidsons were Tip’s true passion, and he could tell endless stories about his experiences. Tipper served in the United States Army and was always happy to talk about his starstruck experience of seeing Elvis Presley perform while stationed in Hawaii. Tipper was a funny man, often telling typical dad jokes such as when asked, "Tipper how do you feel?" he would reply "with my hands. " Or when on his 84th birthday he said, "Well, I never thought I would live to 21 and now I have lived to 21 four times!" Tipper was a quiet man with a big spirit and a bigger heart. Tipper loved his wife and daughter, but seeing him with his two grandsons, was to witness pure love and devotion. They were both his "little buddy" at different times in their lives and would shadow their Poppy wherever he went, which was oftentimes to his beloved shed. An eyesore and organized chaos, Tip’s shed was his haven, his escape. It was a large shed complete with a Harley and parts, large carpentry equipment, mechanic and body shop equipment, and many, many stocked tool boxes. At one time, he even had heat and a television rigged up in his shed. Although it was often a point of contention, Tip’s shed was also where he thought he was sneaking smokes. Tip was also a stubborn man. No matter who objected or the doctors who told him he must quit, Tipper was living his life and "going out" the way he wanted. If he wanted to smoke, he was going to smoke; and he did. Tipper loved his core group of friends immensely. They were not friends; they were family in every sense of the word. The close-knit group enjoyed every holiday together, many dinners out, and playing small games of chance at American Legions, VFW’s, and Moose Clubs up and down the east coast. Tipper was a hardworking man spending over 30 years as an industrial mechanic and retiring from the New Cumberland Army Depot. Always wanting to ensure his family led a comfortable life, Tip worked a lot of overtime and third shift for most of his career. Our Tipper lived life on his own terms and made no excuses for it. He was as much loved for the dedication to his beliefs as he was for his stubbornness. He was quite simply, a simple man who will be missed and remembered for the free-spirited loving man he was. Jim Lang died at home in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on Sunday, October 15, 2023. Born in North Carolina on June 22, 1943, to James Hamilton Lang and Janet Ankeny Lang Smith, Jim grew up with ties to Ohio, Vermont, West Virginia and his beloved San Francisco. He and his surviving wife, Nina Elsohn, shared a love for fast cars, great food and wine, and movies. Jim was a passionate sports fan, following the Warriors, the 49ers, the Cleveland Indians, and most of all his San Francisco Giants. He played tennis, golf and most recently pickle ball, all with a fierce competitive spirit. He loved pickle ball so much he tried to get everyone he knew out on the court with him. Throughout his life Jim had a number of careers, identifying himself as a lawyer and social worker. He was always a staunch Union supporter and a life-long liberal Democrat. In addition to his wife Nina, he is survived by his three sons and their wives: Jon Lang and his wife Gail, Gillis Lang and his significant other Diana, and Morgan Lang and his wife Stephanie. He also leaves behind his daughter Anna Levin, her husband Ken, and their three children Julia (11), Emma (5), and Noah (3). Jim and Nina moved to Pennsylvania in 2019 to be closer to their grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his sister Janet Manning, his niece Heather, his nephew Todd and his wife Sherry, and their two children Greg and Ashley; and his grandson David Lang, his wife, and their three children. He will be missed by all. A small family celebration of Jim’s life will be held in late November. A larger memorial gathering will be held in the spring to allow his far-flung friends and family to plan their trips. Ronald Leroy Reichard, 74, of Etters, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. Ron was a forklift operator with DDRE, the former New Cumberland Army Depot, Fairview Twp. He was a member of American Legion Post 974, Fairview Twp. and the Crotch Cannibals Motorcycle Club. Ron loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and rode for charities benefiting numerous organizations including children’s cancer and autism. He was mechanically inclined, loved anything having to do with the American Bald Eagle and found great pleasure in acting "goofy". But more than anything, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Ron was born in Harrisburg, PA, the son of the late Harrison and Betty (Maeder) Reichard. He is survived by his wife of more than 39 years, Teresa A. (Benson) Reichard; his daughter, Heather Kimberly Bowers (David) of Dover; siblings, Delores Shertzer of Harrisburg, Charlotte Zinn of Newport, Warren Reichard of Etters, Robert Reichard of Harrisburg and Richard Runkle of Coudersport; and two grandchildren, Jovani Palmer and David Bowers, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 3, 2023 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Jacquelyn Nowak

Age - 86

Jacquelyn Louise (Snyder) Nowak, 86, formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Bon Secours Hospice House, Bon Air, VA. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Louise (Clark) Snyder, born on September 2, 1937 in Harrisburg. Jackie was a graduate of Montoursville High School, going on to earn a bachelor's degree from Lycoming College, Williamsport. She would work in many capacities throughout her career, mostly centering around the promotion and wellbeing of Pennsylvania’s aging community. She held the position of director at the West Shore Senior Citizens Center from 1969-1972 before becoming Executive Director with the Cumberland County Office of Aging. After 8 years, she moved on to the PA Department of Aging Bureau of Advocacy, where she was Director until 1988. In between (and following), she was an editorial writer for the Patriot News, Harrisburg, a Special Projects Coordinator for the PA Division of the American Trauma Society, Administrator at Country Meadows of West Shore, and then worked for herself as a private consultant, realtor, and partner at both D and J Productions and Ted E. Bear’s Emporium, Harrisburg. Jackie spearheaded many initiatives and won numerous awards during her time with the Office of Aging and Bureau of Advocacy. She was a longtime member of Market Square Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg, and she was a gifted artist in various mediums – ultimately finding her niche in painting and decorating wooden and tin objects. She shared a love for teddy bears with her daughter, Dede, and the two partnered at the Ted E. Bear Emporium which featured a gallery of teddy bear artwork, along with an area dedicated to creating your own personalized stuffed bear. She and her daughter would travel all over to teddy bear and art conventions in the region. She was sociable and enjoyed her craftiness, constantly putting herself in a position to be around others. And though her career was dedicated to helping others, the other side of her life dealt with self-expression and being with her family. Her final years were spent outside Richmond, VA, where she could be close to her son and his wife and children. Becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother were pinnacles in her life, and being involved in her children’s lives was what kept her going. She will be greatly missed. Surviving Jackie are her children, Drew Nowak (Betty) of Powhatan, VA and Dede Nowak of New Cumberland; grandchildren, Christine Vrescak (Christian) of Moseley, VA and Brad Nowak (Brittany) of Manassas, VA; great-grandchildren, Madison and Declan; and a cousin who was more like a sister, Sandy Snyder. A funeral service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Benjamin J. DeFrancesco, a Veteran of the US Armed Forces, passed away on October 22nd, 2023, at age 90. Surviving Ben is his loving wife, Rita (DiBona) DeFrancesco; his children, Nanette Mittereder (Ken), Deanna Gillespie (Michael), Benjamin DeFrancesco (Andria), Andrea Inserra (Michael), Elena DeFrancesco (Michael); and grandchildren, Alexis, Jacob, Justin, Sydney, Brooke, Christopher, Matthew, and Sara. Nothing made Ben happier than having his entire family in one place, enjoying one another, and watching them grow. Ben set a wonderful example for his family, and they will cherish the support and love he showed them all.
