Andre Bartley Myron January 6, 1942 — February 17, 2024 Andre Myron, 82, passed away on February 17, 2024, after a long struggle with lung disease. Private and independent, Andre was known for his exacting standards, along with a love of sunshine, jazz, and playing the harmonica. Andre was born on January 6, 1942 in Spokane, Washington, the second child of Bart and Lucy Myron. He grew up on a wheat farm in Freeman, Wash, alongside older sister, Inga, and younger brother, Cary. Andre met Margaret Reedy while both were still teenagers. They married at ages 18 and 19. Young and adventurous, the couple moved to Yakima, Washington, where their first daughter, Cindra, was born, and then moved to Portland, Oregon, where their second daughter, Drew, arrived. They enjoyed several years in San Diego, California, before moving to Denver, Colorado, where the family spent most of their lives. An accomplished machinist, Andre worked at tool and die shops throughout Oregon and California. In Colorado, he worked over 20 years at COBE Laboratories. With a mind for precision, he worked closely with research & development teams to create models for medical equipment. Though he was landlocked most of his life, Andre was happiest at the beach or a casino. For many years he and Margaret would vacation in San Diego, where they would spend hours people-watching, beach-walking, and sitting in the sun. The couple also enjoyed long weekends in Las Vegas, where they won, lost, and came home happy. They also favored road trips, exploring state and national parks and small towns throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Andre enjoyed listening to jazz (especially summer concerts at Denver's City Park). After he was diagnosed with COPD, he took up harmonica as a pulmonary exercise to strengthen his lungs and was a founding member of Huff 'n Puffers. The group played together every week for nine years, including four years in which the group met via Zoom. The lung condition also created a commitment to physical exercise and in his last years he was dedicated to treadmill walks as often as he was able. Margaret and Andre were married 57 years. Margaret died in January 2018. In 2019, Andre moved to Oregon to live near his daughter, Drew, and son-in-law, David. He is survived by his daughters, Cindra Kidd and Drew Myron-Rieseck, and son-in-law David Rieseck; and grandchildren: Whitney, Corey, Rosey, D.J. and Kimberly Kidd. The family appreciates the many people who loved and cared for Andre, including the staff of Providence Hospice of the Gorge, Hawk's Ridge Assisted Living, and Val Hiveley Blatz, Nurse Practitioner. Services will not be held. In Andre's memory, the family encourages contributions to Meals on Wheels. Visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.

Betty Dancer

Jul 23, 1924 - Jan 19, 2024

location-icon

Hood River, OR

Betty Dancer of Hood River, Ore., aged 99, departed this world for her next adventure on Jan. 19, 2024. Betty delighted all who knew her with her vitality, engaging smile, quick wit and always happy attitude. She was born July 23, 1924, in Beverly Hills, Calif., and graduated from Beverly Hills High School. Soon thereafter, she met her future husband, Douglas Dancer, while working as a bank teller. After her marriage in 1949, she went from the glamour of Beverly Hills to life in a back country cabin in Sequoia National Park with her new husband, who became a forest ranger. She helped him in all aspects, packing in supplies with horse and burro and dealing with bears. They moved to Southern California when Doug became a professor of ecology at a community college and when he retired, they moved to Orcas Island and took up sailing and exploring the San Juans. After that they moved to Lebanon, Ore., and started the Llazy Llane Llama farm where they raised and showed llamas for the next decade. Her favorite llama, Comet, won first prize at a national llama show in Salem. Betty Jean’s happy marriage blessed them with two sons, Daniel and Tom. Betty was a gifted seamstress, quilter, gardener and antique collector who took pride in her home decor. She was an avid reader and was never without a book or two in progress. She loved animals and ever since she was a little girl, she always had a dog by her side: Jerry, Tuffy, Stormy, Misha, Mary (and many others) ... all received her devotion and good care. When not walking her dog around Hood River, she could be seen well into her 90s tooling around in her 5-speed Isuzu, which she loved. Betty was blessed with two grandchildren, Sierra and Nicolas, and a great-grandchild, Grayson (and twins soon to come). For the last six years, she has resided at Parkhurst Assisted Living facility in Hood River. We would like to thank the staff there for the wonderful care, support and compassion they have shown her, and also to Providence Hospice for the excellent care during her final weeks. A memorial of Betty’s life will be held on what would have been her 100th birthday this coming July. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center • 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031.  Visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.
