Thomas Mccardell Obituary

Mr. Thomas L. McCardell, 94, a resident of Chambersburg Nursing and Rehab, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Sunday morning, April 23, 2023, in the nursing home. Born January 26, 1929 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Mary (Martin) McCardell. Mr. McCardell served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War from 1948 until 1952. He served about the Charles P. Cecil Destroyer. He and his wife, the late Doris L. (Moser) McCardell, were married on August 7, 1951 in Hagerstown, MD. Mrs. McCardell died on July 11, 2015. Mr. McCardell was an automotive machinist for Napa Auto Parts in Hagerstown, Waynesboro and lastly Greencastle, PA. He retired in 1994. He was a member of the Germantown Church of God, Cascade, MD and The Owl's Club, Waynesboro. Mr. McCardell was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his nephew, Greg Moser and his wife, Shirley of Rouzerville, PA and numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by several brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. , Friday, April 28, 2023 in Germantown Church of God, 16924 Raven Rock Road, Cascade, MD with Pastor Linda Rosenberry officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Ave. , Chambersburg at 2:00 P. M. Friday and the public is welcome to attend. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V. F. W. Post #1599, Chambersburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Friday morning, in the church.
