Dickeyville, WisconsinThomas J. "Tom" Layde, 92, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Church, Cuba City, Wisconsin, with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10-10:45 a. m. Wednesday at the church prior to the service. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family. Tom was born on October 20, 1930, in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Francis and Orella Layde. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On January 14, 1956, he married Dorothy Updike, his devoted and loving wife of 67 years. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2023. Tom was employed at John Deere Tractor Works. He was a talented woodworker. For many years, Tom and Dorothy traveled in their motorhome to craft shows throughout the tri-state area. Tom was a Brewers, Packers and Badgers fan, and he enjoyed reading Westerns. Above all, Tom was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Tom is survived by a daughter, Cindy; three grandchildren, Jodi (Travis) VanNatta, Scott (Diliana) Layde, and Jeff (Jolene) Layde; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Layde Burbach; and ten great-grandchildren, Talan, Trevor, Gavin and Grayson VanNatta; Dejanada, Delilah and Ender Layde; and Zoey, Zane and Jerzey Layde, all of whom he loved dearly. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Francis "Pep" Layde and Tommy Layde; four sisters, Florence, Collette, Bernadette and Helen; and two brothers, Jerry and Arian. The family wishes to thank Dr. Salas and staff, and Hospice of Dubuque. In lieu of flowers, a Thomas J. Layde Memorial Fund has been established. Memorials may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Family and friends may call from 4-8:00 p. m. Monday, October 16 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin, where there will be a Parish Rosary Service at 3:40 p. m. Friends may also call from 9-10:15 a. m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service. Doris was born on December 12, 1942 in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Peter and Celestine (Brink) Oyen. She graduated from Potosi High School. Doris was united in marriage to Peter J. Neis on August 17, 1963 at St. Andrew's Church, Tennyson, Wisconsin. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her faith was very important to her. Doris was a member of the Holy Ghost Altar Society and CCW. She assisted with the religious education program helping children learn prayers. Doris enjoyed traveling including fishing trips, trips with her sisters and family trips to the Lake of the Ozarks, Branson and Green Bay. She enjoyed reading and doing puzzles. Above all, Doris cherished her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Doris is survived by her husband, Pete Neis, Dickeyville; five children, William "Bill" Neis, Platteville, WI, Lisa (GJ) Franz, Madison, WI, Duane Neis, Lancaster, WI, Gina (Duane "Pete") Brown, Bluff City, TN, and Lance (Kim) Neis, Cuba City, WI; siblings, Darlean Sabers, Cyril (Aleise) Oyen, LaVern (Marlene) Oyen, Margaret Eastlick, Betty Peacock, Ruth (Ron) Richardson and Dale (Nancy) Oyen; sisters-in-law, Gracie Oyen, Rita Oyen and Delores Oyen; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Todd Neis; siblings, Harold (Rosie), Eldon (Doris), Ronald, Philip, Nilus, James and Linda Oyen; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Sabers, Gerald Eastlick and Gary Peacock. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery in Dickeyville. Ann was born Cecelia Anastasia Kirk on January 18, 1926, in Otter Creek, IA, the daughter of John and Edna (Hayes) Kirk. In June of 1949, she married Wilfred B. Ginter, moved to Dickeyville, WI and together they had 10 children. On January 13, 1970 Wilfred was killed in a car accident. On May 29, 1976 she married Leonard P. Phillips and they lived in Bankston Iowa until he died in 2000. Ann loved her family and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning, playing cards, traveling and shopping! Christmas was one of her favorite holidays. She always looked forward to the annual Christmas cookie baking with her family. They made thousands of cookies over the years that were shared throughout the holidays. Frank was born on January 29, 1933 in Grant County, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (McClain) Langkamp. He served in the United States Navy from 1955-1957. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Spates on November 27, 1965 at St. Mary's Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Frank grew up and worked on the family farm. He was employed at John Deere Tractor Works for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, bowling and fast pitch softball. Frank's faith was very important to him. Most importantly, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Frank was well liked, respected by many and served as an excellent role model for all who knew him, especially his children and grandchildren. Frank is survived by his wife, Kathryn Langkamp, Dickeyville; two children, Robert (Carolyn) Langkamp, Independence, MO, and Sandra Zehner, Phoenix, AZ; three sisters, Kathryn Powell, Platteville, WI, Mary Ann Riesselman, Dubuque, IA, and Rose Marie (John) Reuter, Platteville, WI; Kathy's siblings, Carol Becker and Michael (Linda) Spates; seven grandchildren, Bradley (Krista) Langkamp, Vincent (Emily) Langkamp, Lauren (Gage) Crowder, Jacob Zehner, Joshua Zehner, Sydney Zehner and Brandon Zehner; and four great-grandchildren, Lexi, Leah and Ellis Langkamp, and Sadie Crowder. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family. Cookie was born on November 8, 1949, Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Mildred (Lenstra) Kunkel. She met the love of her life, William "Bill" Busch at the age of 14 and they were united in marriage two years later on April 23, 1966, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler, Wisconsin. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Theirs was a true love story, never leaving each other's side. Bill preceded her in death on May 20, 2023. Cookie enjoyed retail careers at Pamida, Kmart and worked in food service at UW-Platteville. Her most important role was as a mother and she was a fierce protector of her family and devoted her life to them. Cookie loved family get-togethers and playing euchre. She was extremely witty and fun with a great sense of humor. Bill married Jolene "Cookie" Kunkel on April 23, 1966, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler, Wisconsin, and recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Bill worked at John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works for 43 1/2 years where he made lifelong friends. He was a member of UAW Local 94 since 1965. Bill enjoyed golf, the Packers, the Brewers and special times fishing in Minnesota. His favorite time was when his family was all together. He loved his children and grandchildren. Herbert was born on February 13, 1938 to Anton & Mildred (Wilke) Helbing in Cuba City, WI. He married Carol Klaas on September 5, 1970 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kieler, WI. He worked for many years for Maryville Construction. Herbert has lived in Dickeyville, WI for over 50 years and was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville, WI. He was a participant for many years at the Dubuque Farmer's Market, dog lover, especially his toy poodles, Tiffy, Tootsie & Trixie, but most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family & friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. On October 28, 1950, she was united in marriage to Wilfred George at Sacred Heart Church in Fillmore. Wilfred preceded her in death on July 31, 2001. Mary was a longtime member of Holy Ghost Parish in Dickeyville. Mary held various jobs, latest of which was at Sinsinawa Mound, Sinsinawa, Wisconsin. Mary enjoyed bowling, a sport she was active in for over 50 years. She bowled in 40 National Tournaments. She also very much enjoyed reading, euchre, and trips to the casino. Mary faithfully followed her grandchildren in sports.
