Thomas D. Greaves, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Dorothy Greaves; brothers, William, Jack, Jerry, Don, and David. Also preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Frances "Frani" Greaves (Chapanar). Survived by daughter, Diana (John) Manko; sons, Tom (Lisa), William, and Tim (Ronda); grandchildren, Ryan, Jennifer, Travis, Joshua, Alex, John, Megan, Zach, Emily, Ezela, andIzabell; great grandchildren, Louisa, Boone, Wren, Oskar, Ford, Drew, June, Enzo, and Zeena; and his loyal dog, Jeb. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He served in the United States Army during the conflict in Korea and was honorably discharged. Tom was also an avid golfer (with three hole-in-ones under his belt!), who loved to bowl, play cards with his family and in 2002 was inducted into the Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame for "outstanding" play in the Greater Stark County Fumbleball Association from the years 1951 through 1975. Tom lived his life by example. He sought to always be kind and generous. Hanging on the wall of his room was a plaque that read: "You can easily tell the character of a man by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him. "In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to the Benevolence fund at Martindale Christian Fellowship Church. Calling hours will be held Monday, October 9, 2023, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Martindale Christian Fellowship Church. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service, officiated by Pastor Steve Manko III.

Ruth M. (Shifflet) Graber, age 95 & 1/2, previously of Massillon, Ohio, fell asleep in the hope of the Lord on November 18, 2023. She was currently residing at the Gables of Canton. Ruth was born in Canton, Ohio, on May 10, 1928 to the late Arthur J. and Merable (Thomas) Notter. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Graber; sister, Eileen Louise (Notter) Stevens; grandson, Jonathan-Ross-Richards; and favorite cousin, Twila (Notter) Smitley. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Jeanne (Dale) Richards; Janet (Robert) Edwards; son, Ronald Shifflet; grandchildren, Gregory (Tammy) Misko, Scott Misko, Lisa (Larry) McNutt, Jason (Cheryl) Richards, Jennifer (Travis) Umstead, Elaine Stefanick, Leslie Edwards, Rachel DiMauro-Yant; and 5 great-grandchildren. Ruth had a fondness for reading and had a profound connection with animals, welcoming them into her home with open arms. She especially loved dogs and birds. Ruth's compassionate nature extended beyond the boundaries of her own home, as she dedicated her time and talent as an organist at the Canton Christadelphian Ecclesia, filling the church with beautiful melodies that touched the hearts of all who listened. Ruth's family brought her tremendous joy and she will be deeply missed as her family honors her life and legacy for many years to come. The family welcomes guests to Calling Hours on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 10AM to 11AM at the Reed Funeral Home CANTON Chapel with a service officiated by her son-in-law, Robert Edwards, beginning at 11AM. Jeffrey W. "Jeff" Shankel, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023, at the age of 59. He was surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Canton, OH. Born on August 3, 1964, he was preceded in death by his dear grandparents, Jay and Mary Shankel and Bill and Kate Kraus. Jeff was the cherished son of Jerry and Barb Shankel. From an early age, he displayed an adventurous spirit that would flourish throughout his lifetime. Jeff loved being raised in the Drag Racing Community and was a lifelong Scout, bowler, Browns fan, and an awesome human being. Jeff was a Scout in Troop 128, a committee member, Assistant Scoutmaster, & Scoutmaster of Troop 127, holder of Vigil Honor (Order of the Arrow), and Fifth-year Pipestone holder. Jeff was a loving husband to his wife, Lori Shankel, and a dedicated father to their son, Jay (Sonny) Shankel. His family brought him immeasurable happiness and he treasured every moment spent with them. Jeff also shared an unbreakable bond with his brother, Rick Shankel, and sister-in-law Cathy Shankel, sharing in countless memories and adventures; his loving mother-in-law, Sharon Patterson; sisters-in-law, Diane Humphrey, Janet Patterson-Lizarazo, and Patty Lizarazo-Patterson; and brother-in-law, Dave Humphrey. In honor of Jeff's life and the legacy he leaves behind, a Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 5PM to 8PM at the Reed Funeral Home NORTH Canton Chapel.
