Thomas Edward Bailey, 90, of Marshall, MO, died Thursday, October 5, 2023, at his home. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. There is no visitation, but friends may pay their respects and sign the guestbook from 8:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church and an online guestbook is available at www. campbell-lewis. com Born August 19, 1933, in Marshall, he was the son of the late William Thomas Bailey and Mildred Opal Simms Bailey and the grandson of George Alexander Bailey and Mary Susan Henderson Bailey and Early Benton Simms and Sallie Harriette King Simms. Tom lived in Marshall most of his life and was a 1951 graduate of Marshall High School. Following high school he served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard. On September 4, 1955, he married Beverly Jean Hinton, and they later divorced, and on December 23, 1990, he married Donna Mae Oehler Gibbs who survives of the home. Tom worked at Gilkey's Studio, was an assistant manager for J. C. Penney Company and then began a longtime career in insurance. He was part owner of Meuschke Insurance Agency, Bailey-Bertz and Associates and was owner/operator of Bailey Insurance Services until his retirement. Being an active member of the insurance industry, Tom earned his Certified Insurance Counselor Designation and was a member of the Missouri Independent Insurance Agents, serving as past president. Tom's faith was an important part of his life and was a member of Liberty Christian Church in Liberty and First Christian Church in Marshall where he served as Elder and Board Chairman at both churches. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America in Marshall and had an Indian Dance Team which he was proud of. Tom remained extremely active until the very end of his life and enjoyed trout fishing and golfing, making a hole in one when he was 88. In addition to his wife, Donna; he is survived by their children: Linda Kay Alspach Gochenour (Rick) of Marshall, Richard Allen Bailey (Gale) of Boynton Beach, FL, Bryanne Payne Cochran (Dennis) of Warrensburg and Kelly Elizabeth Norwood of Mission Woods, KS; a son-in-law, Sheldon Hooper of Marshall; 10 grandchildren: Joshua Michael Alspach (Stacie), Jonathan Ray Alspach (Andrea), Michelle Lynn Alspach, Kelsey Ray Payne Johnson (Cameron), Brice Lynn Payne, Todd Benton Bailey (Tim), Gynnah Lynne Gaudreau (Kelly Tyler), Peyton Elizabeth Norwood, Piper Ashley Norwood and John Robert Hooper; seven great-grandchildren: Logan Kye Alspach, Juliet Olivia Alspach, Audrey Paige Alspach, Lila Grace Bailey, Hallie Jo Johnson, Leila Patience Gaudreau and Reece Matthew Tyler; two nephews, Christian Ryan Bailey and Aaron Thomas Bailey (Katey); niece, Samantha Brook Bailey; special friends, Harut and Tiiu Shahverdian, and their children, Avo and Mary; as well as other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents and grandparents, Tom was preceded in death by one daughter, Anne Melissa Hooper; and one brother, Roger Benton Bailey. Paul J. Collier, 98, of Marshall, MO, died Thursday, November, 23, 2023, at The Arbors at Westport Estate Assisted Living in Marshall. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. Francis Doyle officiating. Graveside services with military rites will be at 2:00 p. m. at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery at Shackelford. Visitation will be from 9:30 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic School or Marshall Optimist Club in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www. campbell-lewis. com Paul was born on January 16, 1925, and was the son of the late James Collier and Mary Frain Collier. He attended Sunnyside Elementary School and then graduated from Mercy Academy in 1941. In 1942, Paul enlisted in the United States Navy and attended electrical school at Chapman College in Los Angeles, CA. He served on a seagoing tugboat, the USS Menominee, and was an Electrician's Mate. He was stationed in places such as Hawaii, Midway, and Okinawa, and was honorably discharged on December 24, 1945. After returning from the Navy, Paul continued his pursuit of a career in heating and cooling and ranked #10 in the United States on the National Refrigeration Test. On April 30, 1949, Paul married Ann Lynch and they were blessed with two children, Beverly and Randy. Paul owned his own business for several years, Collier Electric. Paul continued a lifelong career in heating and cooling and retired from Beerman Heating and Cooling. Paul will always be remembered for his willingness to serve and not expecting anything in return. He could never say "no" when it came to helping others. In continuation of his willingness to serve, Paul served his church, St. Peter Catholic Church, in numerous capacities throughout his entire life. He served as the president of St. Peter School Board, was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus member, served as city councilman for ward 4 in Marshall, and was an active member of Marshall Optimist Club. He also served as a Scoutmaster for many years and became a mentor for many of the scouts who didn't have a father figure. He and Ann were both honored to receive the Al Bunch Humanitarian Award in 2013 for their commitment to service. He was also honored be named as an outstanding school alumnus from St. Peter School in 2009. Paul was a member of American Legion Post 558 in Malta Bend, the National Association of Fleet Tug Sailors and the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. In addition to his wife of over 74 years, Ann; he is survived by two children, Beverly Kennedy (Pat) of Marshall and Randy Collier (Maribeth) of Springfield; two grandchildren, Megan Kennedy of Springfield and Dr. Elizabeth Monter (Scott) of Charleston, SC; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Wendy A. Cox, 65, of Marshall, MO passed away on Oct. 6, 2023. She was born on May 3, 1958. She graduated from De Soto High School in 1976 and graduated college with 2 bachelor's degrees. She was registered in Kansas as a Child Advocate. Testifying in court regarding temporary and permanent placement for many children. Wendy became a foster parent. She enjoyed kids and always worried about them. She always had a smile and was happy to see and talk to people. Her heart was bigger than life and she had a loving and caring way about her. She gladly welcomed old and new friends. She grew up in De Soto and was a member of the De Soto Baptist Church for many years, then she moved to Gardner, KS. , Topeka, KS and then to Marshall, MO. Wendy was never married and has no family able to help take care of her final wishes. A classmate has stepped forward and we brought Wendy home to De Soto. The strong relationships built though friendships from school and beyond. Forging friendships for a lifetime. Showing not only she cared for them, but they cared for her. She touched to many lives. There will not be any services for Wendy, but she will be laid to rest at Shawnee Memory Gardens with her parents. Christmas was Wendy's favorite holiday. We ask that you hang a pair of wings or an angel on your tree in remembrance of Wendy. The warm heart and solid soul of our friend. That she will never be forgotten. "Robert Charles Johnson, 65, of Marshall, MO , passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church at 1:00 PM, Visitation will be from 12-1 Saturday at the church. Robert Charles (Cheese) Johnson 65, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2023. Robert was the second born of five children to Robert and Shirley Jean Johnson in Marshall, MO on January 30, 1958. He worked at United Refrigeration for over 15 years before transitioning into owning and operating his own business. He had a passion for helping people and he was able to do that within his lawn care and construction company. Often removing brush or taking down a tree for an elder was a highlight of his day. He created positions to help whomever was down on their luck. Always willing to teach his trade and skills to a young man thriving to be a better person. He used his own life to sacrifice in making another better. Robert was known everywhere he went for his infectious laugh and jokes. He loved fishing, outdoors activities and could out whistle and out hum any humming bird. His singing could definitely earn him a spot in the heavenly choir. Robert attended Marshall Senior High and was known for his athletic skills. He ran track, played football and was known on the court where he coined the name "Cheese". In his words, he smiled at his defenders before dunking on them. Verdict is still out on the validity of that story. Robert wore many titles: husband, dad, brother, son, hard-worker, and, perhaps his most well-known title, friend. He was a friend to all he met. Children loved his positive energy, his funny stories and family and friends alike, depended on his words of wisdom. Robert was preceded in death by his his father Robert, his mother Shirley Jean, his son's, Robert Jr. and Mandrell, his brother Tony, his grandparents that raised him, (Clifford and Annabelle) and a host of favorite aunties, uncles, cousins and friends. Robert leaves behind to cherish his loving memories, his wife of 22 years, LaTanya Johnson whom he fathered his last born, Meelandra Adkins (Kansas City, MO), two sons of love, LaTrail Erby (Kansas City, MO)Camara Young (Fayetteville, AR). Betty Louise Drake, 97, of Marshall, MO, passed away, Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall. Funeral services will held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, November 10, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Greg Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a. m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Friends may sign the online register book at www. campbell-lewis. comBorn October 3, 1926, in Miami, MO, she was the daughter of the late Larry Delaney Bacon and Louise Williams Bacon. She lived in Marshall most of her life and on July 31, 1946, she married Robert F. Drake who preceded her in death on January 19, 1979. She retired from the Marshall Habilitation Center after 23 years of service. She enjoyed quilting, cake decorating and shopping at Wal-Mart. She loved being with family. Survivors include five children: Phyllis Fisher of Sedalia, Brenda Persinger of Liberty, MO, Steve Drake (Kristi) of Glasgow, Dicky Drake (Laurie) and Mary Mikle of Marshall; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Fern Vogel of Gladstone, MO; one brother, John Bacon (Vicki) of Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
