YORKTOWN - Thomas L. Arrington, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at his Yorktown residence following an extended illness. Tom, born on October 28,1942, in Muncie, IN, was the son of George T. and Mary Alice (Crawley) Arrington. He attended Sutton Elementary School, Blaine Junior High School, and graduated from Muncie Central High School, the Class of 1960. Tom married the love of his life, Barbara J. Franks, on September 9, 1962, and they were married for 60 years. Upon graduation, Tom started his career with Warner Gear in Muncie. He then accepted the position of Production Manager for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, working in Muncie, Anderson, and Memphis, TN for 11 years. In 1974, he began a long career with Marsh Supermarkets in the Security Department, and later transferred to the Village Pantry Division to become the Director of Fuel Operations until his retirement in 2007. Tom was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending the winters in Summerfield, FL, fishing many of the Central Florida lakes, especially Lake Weir. During the Summer months, he could be found at Prairie Creek Reservoir and other local fishing holes. Tom loved his family deeply and spent as much time as possible with his granddaughters, attending many dance recitals, softball games, and volleyball matches. He proudly attended the Garden Worship Center in Belleview, FL. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Scott (wife Stephanie) of Yorktown; two granddaughters, MiMi Arrington of Fishers and Ellie Arrington of Perrysburg, OH; a great-grand dog Henry; a sister, Alice Arrington of Muncie; a brother, Otto Arrington (wife Sharon) of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Richard Franks; mother-in-law, Ruth Franks; brother, Kenny Arrington and wife Judy; sister, Janet Wilson; brother-in-law, James Franks, and wife Bonnie. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p. m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at The Meeks Mortuary, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, Muncie, with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Louis C. Pippin, husband, father, businessman and Civic Leader, passed away on December 5 at the age of 88. A lifelong resident of Delaware County, Louie graduated from Eaton High School where he met his wife of nearly 61 years, Sandra, from rival DeSoto High School. Louie served his country honorably in the US Army from 1954 to 1957. He spent most of his service in Germany, which is where he and Sandra were married. After his military service, Louie joined General GMC Truck Sales as a "parts man" in 1958 where he worked until 1974. Never one to let grass grow under his feet, Louie began farming in 1967. In 1974 he purchased the International Harvester dealership in Gaston. He and Sandra grew Pippin Equipment to not only sell farm equipment, but his first love, snowmobiles, as he became the only Arctic Cat and Ski-Doo dealer in the area. Changing careers in 1981, Louie ventured into the real estate and appraisal business. He started Pippin Realty in 1985 and then earned his CRA Designation and started Pippin Appraisal Services. He was planning on officially retiring in 2024. Louie was active in the community and always bumped into a friend wherever he went. He was President of the Noon Optimist Club, Optimist of the Year, and active in the International Lions Club. A lover of old cars and trucks, Louie was a member of the Central Indiana Old Car Club since 1972, serving as President many times. He was active in the national Plymouth Club, and the American Truck Club. He loved to organize and take old car tours, including a coast-to-coast Route 66 tour in his 54 Plymouth. Louie was a devoted member of DeSoto United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and served on nearly every administrative committee. He is survived by his three daughters, Cindy Sollars (Randy), Donna Scheid (Walt), Brenda Vance (Brian); five grandchildren, Jonathan Lamb (Mollee), Adam Scheid (Angi), Amanda Bender (Chris), Rachel Vance (Jesicca,) and Daniel Vance; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend, Sue Long. He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra, his parents, Walter and Pauline, and sister Louise. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p. m. on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Parson Mortuary, 801 W Adams Street. Born June 15, 1953, to parents Richard and Alma Burke, Pamela (Burke) Carrol, 70, went to be with her Lord on December 5, 2023. For the past three years, she bravely fought a brain tumor and other health problems. Pamela was born in Somerset, Kentucky, and lived her early years in Springport, Indiana. She graduated from Blue River Valley High School in 1971. She later moved to Dalton, Georgia, returning to Muncie in 2003. She was employed at the OVC Tent factory in Stearns, Kentucky, Queen Carpet in Georgia, and Lowes in Muncie. She enjoyed helping rescue animals and was a member of Westside Baptist Church Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of twenty-three years, Ike Carroll, son, Richard DeWayne Perry (Brandi), Bronston, Kentucky, granddaughter Abby Early (Justin), Bronston, Kentucky, grandson Chase Perry, Marine Corp Camp Pendleton, California, sisters Karen Waters (Carlos), Cowan, Indiana, and Joan Sexton (Don), New Castle, Indiana, and sister-in-law Clares Burke, Muncie, Indiana. Our beloved Lenore Yvonne Lutton passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on December 3, 2023. She was born December 1, 1932, in Muncie, the daughter of Moyne J. and Clara Sara Edwards. She was a cherished Mom, Granny, and friend during her incredible 91 years of life. Lenore was a loving and supportive wife to her husband George "Poppy" Lutton, who retired from the Muncie Fire Department. Granny met Poppy in 1948 when she rode her bike to the gas station where he worked. He borrowed her bicycle-never to return it! They married in October of that year and remained that way for almost 60 years until he died in 2008. Lenore was a bright student and received two double promotions during her school days, then attended Munce Central High School. She worked at Collegiene Shop, Parker City Tax Service, H&R Block, Ross Corner, and the Muncie License Branch. She attended Full Gospel Temple and volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul. Mom enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, baking cookies, and writing the most thoughtful notes in her beautiful handwriting. But across the years, her greatest joy and achievement was her family. Lenore unconditionally, and unselfishly loved her family and supported them throughout her life. Lenore is survived by daughters Sandy Gregory (Bruce), Patsy Brown (Dave), Bonnie Shively, Betty Baker (Douglas), and daughter-in-law Debbie Lutton. Also surviving are grandchildren Wendy Hodge, Brad Gregory (Becky), Traci Lutton (Ty Morton), Sandy Landfert (Vinny), Eric Lutton (Katie), Carly Schull (Mike), Aaron Snodgrass, Alison Storms (Brian), Clifton Segraves (Brenna), Tim Brown (Morgan Whitaker), Donny Segraves (Amanda), and Mary Schliessman. Great Grandchildren; Edward Austin Wren, Ann Gregory, Colby Starr, Harrison Landfert, Briceton King, Evangeline and Genevieve Lutton, Kaitlin and Grace Snodgrass, Ethan Wise, Haylee, and Arian Storms, Orion Jones, and Arionna, Noah, Grace, Abraham, and Titus Segraves, with three great-great-grandchildren Keanu, Ka'ila, and Kalani. She is also survived by siblings Beverly Joanne Leeka and Frank Edwards as well as many nieces and nephews. Lenore was preceded in death by her parents, husband George D. Lutton, son Vernon Dale Lutton, and siblings Phyllis Welty, Jean Acton, Eileen Armstrong, Dolly May, Moyne Edwards, Larry Edwards, and Fred Edwards. Services for Lenore will be held at Parson Mortuary on Monday, December 11, 2023, at noon, with Pastor John Helton officiating and Pastor Denny Helton leading prayer. Mary Frances (Doyle) Swanger died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the age of 98. She was born March 6, 1925, in Muncie, daughter of Earl and Anna (Kern) Doyle. She was a 1943 graduate of Muncie Central High School, a lifelong member of High Street UMC, a member of Delta Theta Tau sorority, and a volunteer at Minnetrista Cultural Center. Mary was happily married for 62 years to her husband, Bill Swanger, who died in 2009. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor. She could frequently be seen walking around her neighborhood, enjoyed working in her gardens, and was a regular participant in a Zoom exercise program, A. G. E. with Fran. She was an incredibly welcoming and hospitable person. Her door and table were always open. Survivors include son Steve Swanger (Linda); daughters Sally Callahan (Greg), Susan Handy (Mark), and Marcia Wilson (Mike); grandchildren Stacy Morton, Scott Swanger (Blythe), Anna Handy (Joe Richardville), and Ben Handy; great-grandchildren William Morton and James Swanger; five step-grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Jean Louise Zeun Gadziola was born September 16, 1938 in Baltimore, MD. She met her husband, David at the University of Maryland, and together, with their two children, Elaine and Bruce, moved to Muncie in 1968. She completed a Master's degree in Microbiology at Ball State, and worked as a microbiologist and epidemiologist at Ball Memorial for many years. Jean was a life-long learner of all things, with an ongoing list of degrees in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Disaster Response ,Photography, Epidemiology, and how to text on your I Phone . She was an industrious storm of doing, planning and getting it done. Our GJ was a master gardener, a community advocate, and a forward-thinker. She was a pianist and artist. She was the most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, big sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and dog and cat grand/parent. Jean appreciated the sophisticated and delighted in the simple. She was an avid tea drinker, cookie lover, and liver lover (so few of us around. Throw in the onions)! She was endlessly generous with her time. She was a superb companion for lunch. She was an attractor of nicknames, solo and collective. She was known as (in approximate chronological order): Sis, String Bean, Jeanie Long Legs, Trylon (with her forever bestie being Perisphere), Mrs G, Mom, Aunt, GJ, Geej, Alpha Girl, Lunch Buncher, Gym Girl, and the forever and embraced title of GJ. The most tenacious and determined, Jean loved life until the very end. She was exemplary in her kindness and acceptance of all, regardless of opinion or lifestyle. MUNCIE - Merle Edward Huffman, Sr. , 86, passed away early Saturday morning, December 2, 2023 at IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born on October 10, 1937 in Muncie, the son of James Ross and Eva Corrine (Drumm) Huffman and graduated from Cowan High School in 1955. He served his country honorably in the US Army Reserves from 1963-1969. On May 6, 1967 in Albany, he married the love of his life, Pamela J. Atkins. Merle worked for Maxon Corporation for 30-plus years, until his retirement in 1997. He was a hardworking man who loved his family. He was devoted to taking care of his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved farming, working in his yard and he especially loved to mow his grass (and was well known for his meticulous grass!) Merle loved to go for walks, especially with the dogs. Merle and Pam loved Florida and spent 20 happy years as snowbirds in Ormond Beach, Florida. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Pam Huffman; three children, Laura Ent (Carl), Karen White and Jennifer Reszka (Rex); six grandchildren, Carly Wester (Doug), Woodrow Ent (Elizabeth), Haley Jonson (Alexa), Abigail Johnson, Emily White and Hannah McCormick (Tommy); four great-grandchildren, Jordan, John, Alyssa and Austin; two sisters, Marilyn Orr and Mary Carmichael; and his beloved dogs, Max and Katie. Ruby Mae Cooper Kinder, age 98, of Parker City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. She was born September 16, 1925, in Portsmouth, Ohio, and was a daughter of the late Robert Vinton Cooper and Sally Mae Stone Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lloyd L. Kinder on September 14, 1996; two sons, Leo Kinder and Ray Kinder; one daughter, Viginia Gale Littleton; four brothers, Arthur Cooper, Henry Cooper, Lowell Cooper, and Paul Cooper; two sisters, Faye McCleese and Ellen Planck; and three grandsons, Vinton Kinder, Scottie Kinder, and Charlie Kinder. Ruby is survived by two sons, Dewey and Mary Kinder of Portland, Indiana, and Harold and Wilma Kinder of Parker City, Indiana; one daughter-in-law, Martha Kinder of Muncie, Indiana; one son-in-law, Phillip Littleton of Frankfort, Ohio; eight grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and other extended family. She was a homemaker and was of the Church of God faith. She was a member of Frankfort Senior Citizens group. Clara Ann Sexton, 90, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at I. U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Clara was born March 25, 1933, in Muncie, the daughter of James and Minnie (Corns) DeRome. She attended Muncie Central High School. Clara married Roger Sexton on May 29th, 1948 and began raising a family together. Clara was a wonderful mother and homemaker to her children. (The Greatest Mom Ever!)After her children were grown, Clara enjoyed working for The Muncie Auto Auction for more than 25 years. Clara loved playing Euchre on Monday nights with her friends. When not playing cards, Clara loved to travel with her husband, Roger. For many years, Clara was an avid bowler. She is survived by three children, Sheila Kerr, Danny Sexton, and Randy Sexton; four grandchildren, William (MacKenzie) Kerr, Mandy (Jason) Phillips, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Sexton, Wesley (Andrea) Sexton; six great grandchildren, Emilyn, Morgan, and William Kerr, Stone Phillips, and Sawyer and Annie Sexton; and several nieces and nephews.
