Dionisios Sabalos, 96, passed away on November 23, 2023, in Tucson, Arizona. Dan, as he was known by family and friends, was born on June 21st 1927, in the Bronx, New York. The eldest child of Greek immigrants, Dan lived, worked, and helped his beautiful wife, Vasiliki Nicolopoulos (Bessie), raise their three children wherever his jobs took him, including New York, Rhode Island, Arizona, California, and Washington, D. C. After Bessie's passing in 1993, he lived for 20 years in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Dan graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in 1944, New York University in 1947 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, and studied for a master's degree at Columbia University. He became nationally recognized as an expert in electronic warfare (signals intelligence), the creation of a land-based war zone ground troop movement simulator which he designed to provide disinformation to enemy command centers, and the development of military aircraft navigation systems (two patents). Over the years he was employed as chief engineer by Northrop Nortronics, Frederich Research Corporation, and Page Communications. He was also employed by Bell Aerospace Corporation and the U. S. Department of Defense (the Army Security Agency, within the National Security Agency). In 1962-63, Dan was sent to South Vietnam for twelve months to participate in the installation of a more secure intelligence and counter-intelligence electronic communications system for use by the U. S. military in preparation for the escalation of U. S. military involvement in the Vietnam War. In 1994, Dan was selected by the Department of the Army for induction as one of eight charter members of the U. S. Army Operational Testers' Hall of Fame. He was past president of the Tucson chapter of A. H. E. P. A. (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association), and chairman of the 1958 western region A. H. E. P. A. convention in San Francisco. His autobiography, "Son of Immigrants" was published in 2016. Dan was predeceased by his parents, Constantine and Panagiota Sabalos, Vasiliki, his beloved wife of 45 years, brothers Gregory Sabalos and Nicholas Sabalos, and grandson Stephen Dember. He was also predeceased by his close friend Gilda Puzio. He is survived by his children Charles S. Sabalos (Jan Kearney), James C. Sabalos (Lockie Jo Gibson), and Barbara Kennedy (Michael); and grandchildren Sarah Sabalos, David Dember, and Gibson Maximilian Sabalos; sisters-in-law Dolores Sabalos, Irene Rally and Maria Sabalos, and twelve nieces and nephews.Show more

Beverly Jane Den-Baars passed away peacefully at the age of 93. She was born on July 9, 1930 and raised on the generational family farm near Hazelton North Dakota to Paul V. and Lina M. Kurtz. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Calvin, Pauley and sister Patricia. Beverly married her first husband Charles P. La Viska and they had two boys Kurt (Aida) and Charles before his tragic death in 1957. She later remarried Dirk Den-Baars in 1959 and they had two more son's Scott (Marisa) and Steven (Susan). She has seven grandchildren Javier (Araceli), Alex, Kyle, Erin (Daniel), Kaitlin, Dalton, Jared and two great grandchildren Alex & Elias. Many dear relatives remain in North Dakota. Beverly grew up during the great depression on the family farm where she developed a passion for horses and had many stories to tell about farm life. Her four boys learned how to ride horses and drive tractors during the summers at the Kurtz family farm. She went to school in Crookston, MN and later got her BA degree in Home Economics at the North Dakota State University in Fargo where she was a cheerleader and belonged to the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. During school she spent summers working as a ranger at Yellowstone National Park where she learned to play the Ukulele. She was ahead of her time as a dress designer, decorator, accomplished seamstress who loved fashion. Beverly loved to dance and was an Arthur Murray Dance Instructor and with her first husband Charles they won many dance contests in Southern California and Tucson. They appeared on the Arthur Murray Dance Party show during the Golden Age of Television. She had many gifts; she loved to paint watercolors and has many paintings of the southwest. Beverly loved to play tennis with her best friends Marge, Midge, Elise and played until she was in her mid-eighties at Randolph and Himmel Park. She was active in Tucson organizations including the Dutch Club, WAIMEs and the Mercedes Club. She joined her family on vacations and adventures hunting and fishing in the outdoors while in the southwest, Mexico, Europe and Indonesia. She had many culinary skills and was an accomplished cook of Indonesian family recipes. She was a huge Arizona Wildcats Fan.Show more

Frederick (Fred) Kyle Kidd passed away on November 21, 2023, from complications of kidney and heart disease. He peacefully entered into eternal life with his loving family by his side, and he went to join his savior, Jesus Christ. Fred was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and grew up in Cedar Lake and Merriville, Indiana. He graduated from Lake Central High School in 1974. Fred was a union Pipefitter with Local 597 of Chicago. Fred retired from the Pipefitters as a Certified welding Inspector in 2016 after 39 years of service. Fred loved Bluegrass music and his family's country cooking. Fred and his wife, Georgee, retired to Tucson, Arizona after his retirement. Fred is survived by his wife of 40 years, Georgee Saboff Pullo Kidd. His son, Kyle G Kidd (Brittney) of Tucson, and Anthony E Pullo of Tucson. His two daughters, Marcey E Sipes (Jason) of Allen, TX, and Kerri L Pullo of Tucson He adored and loved his six grandchildren, Jacob, Alexandra, Isaac, and Victoria Sipes, Julian and Caelan Pullo Ryan His two sisters, Carolyn Kidd Whitlock of Tennessee, and Linda Kidd Jones (David) of Tennessee four brothers, James(Danette) Kidd of Rensselaer Michael(Karen) Kidd Of Dyer, Ken(Ellen) Kidd of Kansas and Lee Kidd(Kerry) of Lake Village. He was proceeded in death by his parents, James and Pauline Kidd Fred was an incredibly loving and devoted man to his family, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He treated them as his own. Fred worked tirelessly to provide the best life for us all, ensuring all our needs and desires were met with unwavering dedication. He consistently made time to be present during the most important and memorable moments in our lives, demonstrating his support and love even further.
