She was a devoted wife and mother and friend to so many. Her friends called her Dee or Momma Dee. She was a member of A Glorious Church Fellowship in Collinsville, Oklahoma, and known for being a reliable prayer warrior. In her youth, she graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and then attended Northeastern Oklahoma A \u0026amp; M College where she studied business and was a member of the Norse Stars, supporting athletic teams and entertaining crowds of fans. In 1956 she married the love of her life, Lawrence Everett Poyner. For the next 20 years, they traveled the country in the USAF before her husband's retirement in 1976. Upon retirement, they started a small business in Collinsville, Oklahoma and again retired from that successful venture in the early 90's. They moved to Beggs, Oklahoma, and remained there until she was preceded in death by her loving husband in 2004. Shirley moved back to Collinsville where she remained active in church activities, prayer groups, and spending priceless time with her family and friends. She traveled to many places including a mission trip to Peru where many lives were changed through the outreach of the mission team she traveled with. When she could no longer travel herself, she continued to provide support for others to carry the Gospel to various parts of the world. She continued to enjoy the church services streamed online and having 'church in her chair'. Her generosity of self and financial support to others brought her great joy. A small hug, kind word, or just sitting and spending time with her in her final year meant so much to her. She often said that old people are invisible to so many people, but she was so happy for her precious friends and family who visited often and cared for her so closely, all the way to her crossing over to Heaven. She will be dearly missed, but she has joined the saints, and we will see her again soon.
