Terry Teeter, 72, of East Peoria, died at 9:14 am on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at his home. He was born May 4, 1951 to the late Norma (King) and Charles Teeter II in Dupage County, IL. He married John Barker on May 30, 2010 in Dubuque, IA; John survives. Also surviving are his three sons, Todd, Charles, and Nathan (Lindsay) Teeter; hisgrandchildren, Chase, Dade, Lindsey, Jennifer, Lucy, and Ethan; his brother, Scott Teeter; hissisters, Sandy Gilmore and Donna Vidito; his 4 legged companions, Huck and Bella; and manynieces and nephews. Terry was a strong advocate for the LGBTQ community as well as the Fresh Water Springs inFlorida. He admired the art of cooking so much that he became a self-taught professional cook. He spent a lot of his time outdoors keeping himself active. He was fond of swimming, biking,snow skiing, and hiking. He took pleasure in being the house handyman and was happy to helpout where he could. He adored animals and was happy to have his fur babies by his side for thelast few moments of his life. Terry was an incredible man that will be dearly missed. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation hasbeen accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local humane society of the donor'schoosing.

"David A. Dvorak, 83, of East Peoria, passed away after a long, courageous battle with ALS, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, to be with his Savior Jesus. He was born in Peoria on August 12, 1940, to Klement and Catherine (Burge) Dvorak. He married his wife of 58 years, Patricia A. Culley, at the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria, on November 26, 1964; she survives. David always said he didn't want any children, but Patty said, "I want 10," so they compromised on 6. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Trischa (Curt Hogland) Lanum of Spokane, WA, Ericka Dvorak of East Peoria, Nathan (Crystal) Dvorak of Auburn, IL, Adam Dvorak of Bartonville, Maria (Jason) Olvera of Greenville, MI, and Merideth Dvorak of East Peoria; 2 foster children, Jeffrey and Christie; 13 grandchildren, Jacob (Etta), Emily, Katy, Matthew, Lielani, Amira, Shauna, Trinity, Cash, Kayson, Luciana, Micah, and Bella; 3 great-grandchildren, Royal, Charlotte, and Zander; and his furry friends, Josie and Holly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Phillip Dvorak. David graduated from EPCHS Class of 1958. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 17, where he played football, and later, re-enlisted as a Green Beret. He earned a bachelor's degree from Bradley University then graduated with his law degree from the University of Illinois in 1971, practicing law until he retired in 2014. He was very athletic and enjoyed playing soccer and football, wrestling, skiing, riding motorcycles and scuba diving. David loved God, his family, and his country. He was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in East Peoria and was the leader of Foot Soldiers in Prayer on Fondulac Drive for over 10 years and part of Cursillo. He and Patty were involved in foster care and adoption for children with special needs, sponsored a Hmong family from a Laotian refugee camp, and David was named WEEK Father of the Year. He treasured his ALS Support Groups and received ongoing care and encouragement from many CNAs over the years. The family would like to give special thanks to the Veteran's Administration and Joanne, Joanna, Tom, Paul, Ed, and Monica. David was passionate in his beliefs, and ALS may have robbed him of many things, but it never took away his ability to talk. Visitation will be from 4-6 p. m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home \u0026amp; Cremation Services in East Peoria. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a. m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in East Peoria, with an additional visitation from 9:30 a. m. until the time of service. Pastor Paul Hinzman will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be at 2:00 p. m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. "Wayne W. Schmidt, 78, of East Alton, IL, passed away on October 1, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL, after succumbing to injuries he received as the result of a tragic auto accident. Wayne was born March 31, 1945, in Chicago, IL to Walter and Gloria (Schoenfeldt) Schmidt. He graduated from Amundsen High School, Chicago, and Northeastern University, Chicago. His great passion for naval history led him to secure the U. S. Silversides SS236, which was a retired Navy Reserve ship moored at Navy Pier, Chicago. He and a team of volunteers worked to restore this historic submarine, creating an onboard overnight program for Boy Scouts. It is now moored as a national museum in Muskegon, Michigan. Wayne is survived by his brother, David (Gayle) Schmidt; niece Kerri; nephew, Brian (Jody) and their children, Bennett and Liberty; and his sister-in-law, Kathy Schmidt. He is also survived by his former wife, Margaret; his two stepdaughters, Jessica (Jason) Young, Samantha (Joel) Larson, and their children; and stepson, Robert Anderson (Nereyda) and their son. He leaves behind an uncle, aunts, cousins and numerous caring friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Schmidt; and former wife, Kathleen. Wayne retired as a substitute teacher at Alton School District and as the civilian Chief of Plans and Programs at the U. S. Air Force base in Warner-Robbins, GA. His prior employment included Director of Strategic Air Command Museum, Omaha, NB; National Museum of Transportation, Manchester, MO; the USS Intrepid Museum, NYC, and as the Director of the Air Force Museum also located at Warner-Robbins GA. Prior to his accident, Wayne was returning home from his birthplace in Chicago after attending the 60th reunion from Amundsen High School where he was able to reconnect with not only his former high school graduates but also students from Chappel Elementary. He had the opportunity to visit aunts, cousins, his 102-year-old uncle who was a World War II B24 bomber pilot, and many of his nieces and nephews. Cremation rites have been accorded. Kimberly A. Bain, 68, of East Peoria, passed away at 9:55am Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Manor Court of Peoria. She was born September 13, 1955 in Peoria to the late Roy and June Lindgren Petri. She married Brice E. Bain on May 25, 1974 at First Christian Church in Peoria; he preceded her in death on July 12, 2017. Surviving are her children, Emily (Nicoli) Thompson of Chandler, AZ and Nicholas (MacKenzie) Bain of East Peoria; her grandchildren, Noah Thompson, Rhett Thompson, and Jaxson Bain; her sister, Terry (Denny) Paluska; her brother-in-law, Bruce Bain; brother-in-law, Mark (Mary K) Bain from Washington, IL and her significant other, Geary Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her two babies, Christopher and Erin Bain. Kimberly worked for Illinois Bell Telephone, and later worked for East Peoria District 86 as a librarian. She was a graduate of East Peoria Community High School, where she was a Raiderette. She was an active Scout leader and supporter of her kids' sports teams, and enjoyed music. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Peoria, where she served as an Elder, with VBS, and with 40 years as a Sunday School teacher. Kimberly leaves a legacy of generosity, love, and appreciation for a good book. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.Show more
