Ada, OK
Terry Keith Richardson was born on February 8, 1953, in Ada, Oklahoma to Matt and Lete Richardson. He left this world for his heavenly home on May 4th, 2023. Terry was taught great work ethics at a very young age, working on the family farm and learning to drive a tractor, cut rake and bale hay as a kid. These traits stayed with him throughout his adult life. He was a very hard worker, always putting 110% of himself into everything he did. He attended all of his school years at Latta School, where he was active in baseball, basketball, and FFA. He graduated from Latta in 1971. He then attended East Central University. Terry was extremely business minded and started his own oilfield drill bit business in the late 1970s. He owned and operated Richardson Bit Company where he sold, serviced and rebuilt drill bits. He also became very active in the drilling business, owning several drilling rigs and drilling companies. He never forgot where he came from, and continued a love for the farm life, and owned tractors and hay bailing equipment and did custom hay bailing for many years. He and Sherry Griffin Richardson were married in 1981 at the First Baptist Church in Fittstown. They made their home in Latta for almost 20 years before moving to the farm at Fitzhugh. They loved the simple country life, raised a few cattle, baled lots of hay, drilled lots of oil wells and sold lots of drill bits. Terry loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, be it pheasant, quail, deer or turkeys. Up until his last day here, you would find him out riding around in the pasture, messing with stuff in the barn and piddling in his shop building. He and Sherry were able to purchase a home on Lake Texoma, where many happy memories were made. Terry leaves behind his wife Sherry of the home, his daughters Janessa Hughes and Tony Folger of Ada, LaDawn Batch and her husband Josh of Norman, and Terra Fortner and her husband Alan of Ada. He dearly loved and will be terribly missed by his six grandchildren, Daniel Hughes, Ashlyn Fortner, Janae Hughes, Landon Fortner, and Ella Fortner of Ada, and Charlie Balthrop of Norman. Terry will be extremely missed by his best friend and companion, Axel, who came to live with them in December of 2021, and since then have been inseparable. They spent many, many wonderful days together, doing lots of fun things, watching the Western Channel and especially Gunsmoke. Terry loved Jesus, he loved his family, his dog, and his friends. He will be missed by so many. To plant Memorial Trees in memory of Terry Richardson, please click here to visit our Sympathy Store.
