Terry Eugene James, born on September 16, 1961, in Florence, South Carolina, was a son of Tommy Ross and the late Naomi Ross. On Friday, September 29, 2023, he transitioned to eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished bythose who knew and loved him. Terry received his education in the public schools of Florence County and later embarked on a journey that led him to Jonesboro, Georgia, where he found meaningful employment at Newrest. It was there that Terry formed deep connections with his co- workers, neighbors, and friends, who became more like an extended family to him. In life, Terry experienced both joy and sorrow. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carrie James, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms in the eternal realm. Their love remains a testament to the enduring power of devotion andpartnership. Terry's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who survive him, including his father, Tommy Ross of Lake City, South Carolina. He is also survived by his devoted son, Jermaine Brown of Florence, South Carolina, and four cherished daughters: Tonia (Alfred) Dudley of Florence, Tawashia (Charles) Brayboy of Florence, Raven (Kevin) Graham of Charleston, and Chastity (Demetres) Hennigan of Florence. Terry's love extends to his seven adoring grandchildren: Nyerra Lasane, Ashton Dudley, Jamie Blount, Jaheim Blount, Chacayla Hennigan, Demirius Hennigan, and Caleigh Hennigan, all of Florence. Terry's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of love, laughter, and shared moments with family and friends. His warm smile and generous spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. John Thomas Harbin, of Jonesboro, Georgia passed away November 13, 2023. He was born on October 24, 1955, at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta Georgia to Walton Thomas Harbin and Ida Inez Harbin. He leaves behind two sons, Wayne Harbin, and Benjamin "Benji" Harbin; his wife, Dawnne Harbin; and four grandchildren, Jacob, Savannah, Isaiah and Payton. He also leaves behind his brother, David Harbin; and sisters, Diane Stalnaker, Peggy Augsburger, and Amy Oliver and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his love, Connie Jo Harbin; his sister, Joyce Harbin Berridge; and his parents. John was a skilled engineer, fabricator, and machinist by trade. He founded All Pro Muffler welding and fabrication in 1980 in Jonesboro Georgia. He spent a big part of his life building race cars and racing. John was a man that loved to "go fast" either in an airplane, race car or a motorcycle. Beyond racing, his hobbies included playing guitar and cooking, and his delicious recipes were enjoyed by his family and grandchildren at family events. John loved dogs and all animals and adopted and loved many of them. He was loved deeply and will be missed by his immediate family, extended family, and many friends. A viewing and visitation will be held on November 16, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a laterdate. Ralph Morris Middleton Mr. Ralph Morris Middleton of Jonesboro, GA passed October 13, 2023. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11 a. m. at Morrow Presbyterian Church, 6171 Huie Dr. , Morrow, GA 30260, Reverend John Callahan, pastor, officiating. The remains will be placed in state at the church at 10 a. m. Public viewing will be on Friday, October 20,2023 at our chapel from 1 to 6 p. m. The interment will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Stem Point Memorial Cemetery, James Island, SC. Mr. Ralph Morris Middleton, 81, died in Stockbridge, GA, at Piedmont Henry Hospital in the afternoon of October 13, 2023, after battling a sudden illness. Born in Charleston on November 27, 1941, Mr. Middleton was the youngest son of the late Mr. Eddie Middleton, Sr. and the late Mrs. Estelle Middleton Brown. His older brother, Eddie Middleton, Jr. preceded him in death in 2003. Growing up, Mr. Middleton attended Charleston County Public Schools. After high school, he attended South Carolina State College where he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in 1963. He taught for two years in the Chatham County School Systems in Savannah, GA until 1965. He then moved to Dodge County where he taught English, Language Arts, and Music at Peabody Elementary and High School, which was a segregated African American School. After integration of the Dodge County Public School System, Mr. Middleton began teaching at Dodge County High School where he taught Language Arts. He wanted to further his community involvement and in 1969, Mr. Middleton became a faithful member of Peabody Heights Presbyterian Church where he became an Elder and served faithfully as the church musician for twenty-three years. It was during this time that he met Elder Dorothy Towns, and they were married in 1971. From their union three daughters were born. Mr. Middleton also went on to join Beulah Lodge #37 and was an active member of the Mason Brotherhood for over 15 years. During his early years, Mr. Middleton furthered his education by attending Mercer University and received a Master of Arts Degree in English/Language Arts in 1983. After graduating from Mercer University, Mr. Middleton went to the University of Georgia where he obtained his 6th year teaching certificate and graduated with a Specialist in Education (Ed. S) in 1986. During his tenure, Mr. Middleton had a tremendous impact on the students at Dodge County High School and was recognized for having the highest percentage of students to pass the Graduation Requirement Exam. In 1993, after retiring from Education, Mr. Middleton worked in real estate in Macon, GA, engaged in substitute teaching with Clayton County Public Schools, and traveled the world. He had a strong faith in God, a witty personality, possessed a true appreciation for multicultural music and art experiences, and was a lifetime academician due to his immense love for reading, as evidenced by his diverse literature collection. Over the course of his lifetime and since his retirement, Mr. Middleton spent many years living in both South Carolina and Georgia. However, during this last year, he moved to Stockbridge, Georgia, to be closer to his loved ones. Mr. Middleton is survived by his three daughters: Teresa Middleton of Eastman, GA, Leslie Middleton Walters of Americus, GA, and Hillary Middleton of Riverdale, GA; their mother, Elder Dorothy Towns Middleton of Eastman, GA; his two grandsons: Benjamin James Davis Walters of Temple, GA, Jordan Alexander Walters of Weehawken, NJ, and his church family of Morrow Presbyterian Church in Morrow, GA. where he joined in 2023 and whom he considered as part of his spiritual family. Paris Hawkins, 96, of Jonesboro, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Paris was born at home in Ducktown, Georgia, near Cummings, to Guy Washington Hawkins and Flossie Hood Hawkins. His family lived in multiple places, moving frequently to wherever Guy's job called them. Paris attended Haw Creek Elementary School, living in the summers with his grandparents. He then attended Lyman Hall High School. He quit school to join the Navy (with his mother signing permission for him) but later returned and earned his GED diploma. He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946, serving on the destroyer USS Franks. His first job was a newspaper delivery route shared with his brother, G. W. He later worked for Coolidge Paint and Varnish and for Southeastern Flooring. A highlight of that job was installing a huge floor in a gym at Emory University. He then began working for Ivan Allen Printing, a job that lasted 43 years until his retirement in 1992. Paris and Myrtle Louise Register were married on July 17, 1948. She preceded him in death after 69 years of marriage. . Paris is survived by his two sons, Phil (Amy) Hawkins of Loganville and David (Patty) Hawkins of Chattanooga. Grandchildren are Ashley (Ryan) Jameson, Eric (Holly) Hawkins, Jenny Hawkins, and Shaun Hawkins. Great-grandchildren are Christopher Jamieson, Gavin Ozborn, Alice Hawkins, Ava Hawkins, Lilly Vallance, and Riley Vallance. The family wants to thank the thoughtful, caring people at Southern Grace Hospice of McDonough, Georgia for taking wonderful care of Paris during his last week of life. Paris had lived for the last two years at The Palms at Lake Spivey, and we also wish to thank the caring personnel there for being so attentive and tending to his needs while there. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a. m. on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Forest Hills Memorial Garden with Chaplain Mike Winsor. Arrangements are being made through Tara Gardens Chapel in Jonesboro, Georgia. Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 2780 Mount Carmel Road in Hampton, Georgia, 30228.
