Emagene Lyon passed away on February 29, 2024, at the age of ninety-eight. Emagene was born to Raymond and Wilhelmina Niles on January 16, 1926. She grew up in Michigan City, Indiana, and moved to Poughkeepsie, New York where she met and married Gordon Lyon who preceded her in 1989. They raised their family and were long-time residents in Mahopac, NY. Additionally, they were active, long-time members of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Carmel, NY. Emagene was employed at Martini’s Variety Store in Mahopac and retired from Guideposts in Carmel. Together they have 2 daughters: Wendy Wright and Shari Mertlik who live in Poughkeepsie, NY, and a son, David Lyon, who lives in Boulder, Colorado. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Wendy and Kevin Wright, Shari, and Frank Mertlik, and David and Linda Lyon (deceased); her grandchildren: Frank Mertlik (Jennifer), Justin Mertlik (Mary), Ryan Mertlik, Adam Wright and Ashley Jollay (Nate); as well as her great-grandchildren: Saint Jollay, Monroe Jollay, Ryan J. Mertlik, Samuel Mertlik, and Matilda Mertlik.Two brothers Robert Niles and Henry Niles and one sister Mae Burbas, predeceased Emagene. Emagene loved the simple things in life. She was dedicated to her family first and foremost. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She loved her roles as Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend and cherished every minute spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cared so deeply for the people around her. She had a servant’s heart and always made people feel loved. She loved to make crafts, cook, and feed her extended family well, especially during the holidays and the weekly summer family picnics. She always found a way to smile, laugh, and live life well. She made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed. Until we meet again.

Jennie McDonald, age 94, passed away on February 26, 2024 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on December 19, 1929 in the Bronx to the late Leon and Maura (Cicoira) Popoli. She married her husband Thomas McDonald on October 14, 1951. He predeceased her in 2001. Jennie was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. For much of her life, Jennie worked for the Girl Scouts of America. Jennie was a brave and kind woman who was completely devoted to her family. She created a beautiful life out of tough beginnings. Her family brought so much joy to her life and she greatly enjoyed spending quality time with them. Jennie was well loved for her feisty attitude and zest for life. In her spare time, she loved watching Jeopardy, playing cards, taking walks, and she was an avid reader. She is survived by her loving daughter Laura Egan and her husband Robert; her beloved grandchildren: Dan Egan, Amanda Ranellone Egan, Kristen Maher and her husband Mike, and Robert Egan and his wife Jessica; her precious great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Fintan, Alice, Keegan, and Quinn; as well as her sister-in-law Mary Popoli; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband Thomas, Jennie was predeceased by her siblings: Frank Popoli, Sr. Mary Aileen Popoli RSM, Leon Popoli and Tony Popoli. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday March 9, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church 106 Jackson St. Fishkill. Please meet at the church. Following the Mass, please join the family from 12-2 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc. 1089 Main St. Fishkill. After visitation, the family cordially invites everyone to a luncheon to honor Jennie’s life at Handshakes in Fishkill, NY.

Christopher H. Pinkerous, of Napanoch, NY passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on January 29, 2024, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born on October 16, 1967, in Ellenville, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas and Patricia (Brust) Pinkerous. Chris graduated from Ellenville High School in 1986 and went on to attend Hudson Valley Community College, where he earned a degree in automotive mechanics. This knowledge fueled his love for motorcycles and all things mechanical. Chris served as a Corrections Officer for Ulster Correctional Facility for 25 years until his retirement in October of 2014. Following his retirement, he joined his brother Paul at NPS, where he handled all aspects of the job with dedication and expertise. Outside of work and family life, He was a proud member of the Walker Valley Warthog LE Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow riders with his brothers in blue. In addition, he found joy in snowmobiling and camping—a true lover of the outdoors. However, it was Chris’ love for his family that truly defined him. He adored spending time with his wife Lori (Wilhelm) Pinkerous and their three children: Christopher Pinkerous Jr, Brianna Smith and her husband Matthew, Jackie Ellsworth and her husband John. He found immense joy in the presence of his grandchildren: Emily, Benjamin, Daniel, Colin, and Claire. He cherished every moment he spent with them. He will also be deeply missed by his brother Thomas Pinkerous and his wife Jackie, his brother Paul Pinkerous and his wife Jennifer, his nieces and nephew Cassandra, Hailey, and Brock along with Uncle Henry Brust and Aunt Madeline Quintal. Chris will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Friends are invited to pay their respects at Loucks Funeral Home located at 79 N Main St, Ellenville, NY 12428, on February 3rd, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This will be a time for friends and family to come together, share their memories, and support one another during this difficult time. Susan went to Nativity School in Poughkeepsie and was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School Class of 1969. She was a Housekeeper and also worked in the dining area at Marist College. For over 20 years Susan also worked for Aloy's Restaurant in Poughkeepsie. Susan also was the owner of Simply Exotic Birds in Poughkeepsie. She was the wife of Bruce Dooris, they were married on August 17, 2005, in Las Vegas Nevada. Susan was a member of the Mid-Hudson Bird Society. She was a breeder of German Shepherds, loved going to the Casinos, playing BINGO, Trips to Cape Cod, Mexico, painting, and crocheting. Survivors include spouse Bruce Dooris Poughkeepsie New York, son and daughter-in-law Paul A. and Robyn Longi Ballston Spa New York, daughter and son-in-law Kristina A. and Joseph Granieri Highland New York, grandchildren Paul Jr., Mallory, James, Camryn, Harper, Wynn, sister Lisa Legnane, brother Joseph Bruno, several nieces, and nephews and was predeceased by her sister Debbie Hagan-McCray. Ronald B. Prichard, of Poughkeepsie NY, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday February 25th, 2024. Ron was born on April 10th, 1939 in Poughkeepsie NY to the late Benjamin and Eleanor Prichard. He is survived by his brother Robert Prichard (Terry) and Ron’s longtime companion, Linda Ciancio as well as Ron’s children and their spouses, Scott and Jessica Prichard, Andrea and Joseph Kirchoff, his former wife Karen VanWagner Sheer and Lindas sons Brandon and Kelly Ciancio and Judson Ciancio. He also leaves behind several grandchildren: Kyle Kirchhoff (Kelly), Troy Kirchhoff (Jessica), Samantha Kirchhoff (Paul), Layla Kirchhoff, Scott B. Prichard, and Gabrielle E. Prichard as well as three great grandchildren William Kirchhoff, Elle and Emma Kirchhoff and one nephew Brian Prichard. Ron was a 1957 graduate of Arlington High School and from there joined the US Army and served as an Honor Guard in Washington DC including duties as a guard to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. From there he went on to join the family garden center business before founding Dutchess Recreational Vehicles and a splinter affiliate in Newburgh NY. After Ron sold his businesses, he pursued his true talent and passions which were taking difficult restoration projects and turning them into true works of art. His focus was on turn of the century automobiles and engines which slowly evolved into custom vintage motorcycles. Ron’s love of speed often found him on the Hudson River enjoying one of the many offshore race boats he took a fancy to as well as motorcycle and snowmobile racetracks around the country. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing our dad knew he was a man of many talents, skills and a wealth of information. He loved his children and family immensely and his persona radiated a feeling of safety and security for those he touched. He will be greatly missed by all.A private burial will be held with a celebration of life to follow in the spring. Memorial donations can be made in Ronalds’s name to Town of Poughkeepsie PBA, P.O. Dr. Neil Victor Salzman, 83, a longtime area resident, died on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY of complications related to Parkinson’s Disease. Born on October 25, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Sidney and Jean (Feldman) Salzman. Dr. Salzman received both his Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in history and political science at City University of New York in New York City, and went on to become a history and political science professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ. Alongside his formal academic path, he was a scholar of secular Jewish and Yiddish culture and language. He was a member of the Ralph T. Waterman Bird Club and the Parkinson’s Disease Support Group of the Mid-Hudson Valley. On September 6, 1986, he married Dr. Robin Flam who survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Aram Salzman and his wife, Maria, of Concord, MA; Noah Salzman and his wife, Smadar, of San Francisco, CA and Gabriel Salzman and his wife, Emily, of Palo Alto, CA; a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Gail Salzman of Fairfield, VT and four grandchildren, Isaac, Ella, Haggai and Eden Salzman. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Salzman. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Mr. Hastings was a member of the Dover 2nd Baptist Church in Dover Plains Mr. Hastings is survived by a son, Robert Hastings of Millbrook and a daughter, Christine Hastings of Millbrook. He is also survived by two step-sons, Ronald Briggs of Millbrook and David Biggs of Syracuse. Mr. Hastings is also survived by fourteen grandchildren. Marianne Valente, a longtime resident of Hopewell Junction, passed away on February 24, 2024, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 76. On April 19, 1947, in the Bronx, Marianne was born to the late Anton and Elizabeth (Worche) Cernik. Marianne graduated with her master’s degree from Western State Connecticut College and went on to become a beloved second grade teacher in Putnam Valley. On May 29, 1971, in Putnam Valley, Marianne married the love of her life, Rocco. He survives at home. Marianne is also survived by her daughter, Francine Perez and her husband, Luis; her daughter, Dawn Potthast and her husband, Thomas; her son, Dominic Valente and his wife, Therese; her daughter, Angela Guerra and her husband, Carlos; her grandchildren, Preston, Dominic, Danica, Donovan, Chase, Austin, Juliana, Karl, Nickolas, Lucus and Amelia. Marianne was a dedicated parishioner at St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill and for many years, was the Coordinator of Religious Education. In her free time, Marianne enjoyed reading a good book and carefully selecting and wrapping thoughtful gifts for all her loved ones. More than anything, Marianne loved being Gramma. Leonard S. Privitera, a Dutchess County resident since 1997 and formerly of Yonkers, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at home in Poughkeepsie. He was 67. Son of the late Antonino and Louise (Desti) Privitera, he was born in the Bronx on May 4, 1956. Lenny worked as a self-employed roofer. He had a passion for music and always enjoyed going to concerts, especially those he attended with his wife, with performances by The Who, Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, and many more. He could always be found riding his motorcycle, as he savored countless rides throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond. Lenny also reveled in taking trips to various casinos. He had many great friends and valued those close relationships. More than anything else, however, he truly cherished being a grandfather and spending time with his grandsons. He will be remembered for his independent spirit and was loved by all who knew him. On September 21, 1982, he married Tara McHale in Davie, FL. He was preceded in death by Tara just five months ago on September 21, 2023. Survivors include his son, Nicholas Privitera of Poughkeepsie; his daughter, Rhiannon Privitera of Youngsville, NC; his daughter, Melissa Cardone; his grandsons, Maximus, Orrin, and Asher; his siblings, Anthony Privitera, Johnny Privitera, Louise Pacione, and Marianne Adam; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon & John Nolan; also many nieces & nephews, including Lily Nolan; and his longtime close friends, William McNamee and Jay Gold; as well as many other loving relatives & friends. In addition to his wife, Lenny was also predeceased by his beloved son, Ryan Privitera (2019); his sister, Jackie Zaloshinsky; and his twin sister, Vivian Bonfiglio.
