OBITUARY OF TED PODGORSKI Ted Podgorski was received by angels into God's Kingdom on April 12, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. He was born June 3, 1934, in a small town called Sarny in the former state of Ostrow Poland. After WWII he and his family spent two years in a refugee camp awaiting the immigration process to come to the United States. Once in the USA, he grew up in Chicago. He entered the military and became a U. S. citizen. Ted served in the United States Air Force for 26 years. He served in Korea, as well as two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was highly decorated in the military receiving several medals including two Bronze Stars. It was also early in his military career that he studied Judo while in Japan attaining a 2nd degree Black belt. After retirement from the military, Ted worked for Aerospace Corporation for another 22 years. He spent many years in his retirement raising and showing his beloved Arabian horse Delila. He met and married Gladys Aragon in 1958 and remained her devoted husband for the rest of his life. They had four children, all of whom survived him. Ted was a deeply spiritual man and devout Catholic. He was a kind and gracious man, with a generous smile for all who met him. He loved God, his family, country, good food, exceptional wine, and beer. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Gladys, his children, and their spouses: Tony and Edna Podgorski, Tom and Kristin Podgorski, Tammie(Podgorski) Guthrie and Jim Crouch, Teresa and Veronica Podgorski. Ted was also survived by his sisters and their spouses: Wanda & Don Russell, Teresa & Michael Daniels. He had four grandchildren: Ryan Wisniewski, Edenrose (Podgorski) Preszler & Matt Preszler, Nicholas Podgorski, and Joshua Podgorski. He had one great granddaughter Amari Podgorski. He also had numerous cousins including Regina Podgorski in Chicago and was a surrogate grandfather to his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Wicktor and Marianna Podgorski, his brother John Podgorski, and his older sister Genie Bielawski.
