Tammy Lynn Sassi, 57, of Mexico, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at her home. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p. m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Arnold Funeral Home. Josh Dickson will be officiating the service. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 11, from 11:00 a. m. until time of services at the funeral home. Ms. Sassi was born on July 9, 1966 in Salem, New Jersey, the daughter of Anthony and Brenda (Husted) Sassi. Tammy's home was open to everyone, no matter what she had going on she made time for others. She would spend leisure time playing bingo and putting together puzzles. In midlife, she enjoyed going on camping trips. Tammy enjoyed the TV series "Supernatural" and the movies, "Lethal Weapon", "Final Destination" and "Con-Air". She also watched Cardinal baseball. Survivors include three children, Steven Shipley of Mexico, Heather Shipley of Mexico and Danielle Todd of Mexico; five grandchildren, Johnathan Doyle, Allison Todd, Alexstraza Todd, Joseph Shipley, Gene Smith; her mother, Brenda Husted of Mexico; one brother, Paul; two sisters, Candi Crenshaw and Tonya FranklinTammy was preceded in death by her father, Anthony P. Sassi and one brother, Michael Sassi. The family requests memorial donations be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Memorials may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. ObituaryJames W. Douglas, a long-time resident of Martinsburg, passed away on April 27, 2023 at the age of 93. Funeral services will be at 11 a. m. Saturday May 6, 2023, at the Martinsburg Community Church with Pastor Justin Keith officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Montgomery City. All family and close friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a. m. until service time at the church. Pickering Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. James William Douglas was born to Harry and Gertie Douglas on July 31, 1929 in Granite City, Il. As a child, he lived in Tennessee and Missouri. He graduated from high school in Martinsburg, MO. After high school, Jim Douglas joined the United States Air Force in 1950. He met his wife, Patsey Lucile Miller, while stationed in Albuquerque, NM playing short stop on his Air Force baseball team. Her brother was playing on the same team. They were married in Grand Junction, CO. on April 10, 1954. She preceded him in death on October 15, 2022. Jim had four daughters, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Jim worked most of his life for the Martinsburg Farmers Elevator. He is probably known best for his love of baseball. He played baseball both in high school and while serving in the Air Force. He also enjoyed watching baseball especially the St. Louis Cardinals. So much so that when he got a cut, he would bleed red. He also enjoyed going fishing whenever he got a chance. He has been an active member of his local American Legion and was always proud of the service he gave his country. Jim is survived by his daughters Cherry Pasley (Bruce) of Laddonia, MO, Billie Regain (Ron), of Trenton, IL, Connie Douglas of Williston, ND, Patricia Wilson (Brent) of South Beloit, IL; and his brother Tom Douglas of St. Louis, MO. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Gertie Douglas; his siblings Edith Keene, Delmar Douglas, Charles Douglas and Betty Jennings; and one son-in-law, Bruce Pasley. "Tina Marie Johns-Dukes, age 50, of Mexico, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. She was born September 28, 1973, in Columbia, a daughter of August Johns and Debbie Whittle. While in high school, Tina enjoyed running track and received several medals for her performances. She was a member of the Big Rock Church near Barnett. Tina will be remembered as a loving person and a free spirit. She is survived by her children, Ember Maness, Machah Johns, Tehya Sieling, Kameo Sabbagh and Dakota Sieling; her mother, Debbie Sieling; father, August Johns; siblings, Venus Hickman, L. J. Sieling, Harold Sieling, Dusty Sieling and Alberta Johns; her grandmother, Lebetta Whittle and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Maness, brother, Travis Johns and grandfather, Melvin Whittle. James (Jim) Hill of Liberty, Missouri, formerly of Mexico, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023, after a brief illness at the age of 97. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p. m. until 2:00 p. m. Friday, November 24th, 2023, at Pickering Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at East Lawn Cemetery in Mexico. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Kay (Jenkins) Hill and later by his second wife Jessie May (Bowen) Hill. He is survived by his son Randall (Randy) Hill of Kansas City MO, his grandchildren, Scott Allen Hill of Kansas City MO, and Jennifer Kay Lowrey of Kearney MO. James had 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Jim was born on February 4th, 1926, in Mexico, MO to David and Kathryn E. (Miller) Hill of Mexico both of whom were active members of the First Baptist Church in Mexico until their passing. Jim was also preceded in death by his brother David (Dib) Hill and his two sisters, Ruth Chapman, and Mary Kay Garrett of Mexico. Jim graduated from Mexico High School in 1944 and worked at A. P. Green as a crane operator until he enlisted in the Army Air Corp, where he served in the Pacific and occupied Japan. Upon returning to Mexico, he married Mary Kay Jenkins. He graduated from DeForrest electrical school and went on to work for Montgomery Wards as Regional Customer Service Manager in Kansas City MO until his retirement in 1977. Ronald "Sy" Edward Shivers of Mexico, Missouri passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023. Ronald was born December 24, 1948, the son of Henry and Minnie (Exford) Shivers. He attended Garfield Elementary, Hardin Junior High, and Mexico High School. Ronald was a people person and enjoyed being around family and friends. He was full of personality and always said what was on his mind. He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Jones of Minnesota; five grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four sisters, Janice Shivers of Waukegan, IL, and Sandra Johnson of Mexico, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minnie Shivers; three brothers, Henry Shivers, Raymond Shivers, Robert Shivers; one sister, Evelyn Lawson; his grandparents, Lawrence and Polly Exford, Mattie Johnson, and Ray Shivers. Sharon Ann Milburn, age 72 of Mexico MO, gained her wings on October 16th, 2023. With her five children and sister Cindi Hummer by her side she completed her long and exhausting journey home and passed at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Sharon was born in Macon MO, on July 17, 1951. She lived a vibrant and mostly enjoyable life. She had a great love of the outdoors, her Shih Tzu dogs and other breeds, crochet, crafting and of course Elvis. Sharon also enjoyed spending time with her family with big celebrations and large family dinners. She met her first husband Wilton (Bill) Lee Higbee Senior as a young 17-year-old girl working as a waitress at a truck stop. They were married on November 22nd, 1968, and from this union 5 children were born. They live in and around Canton for many years on and off the Higbee family farm. They moved to Macon in the early 80's where she worked at Conagra foods for many years. Sharon and Bill divorced in 1991 but remained lifelong friends. She married her second husband Alan Lee Milburn on August 10th, 1993, in Holden Missouri. They lived there almost 20 years until covid hit and they moved to Mexico to be closer to her kids and grandchildren in 2020. She remained married to Alan until she passed. Surviving Sharon is her Husband Alan Lee Milburn of Mexico, Her 5 children Dustin Wayne Higbee and wife Felicia of Paris MO, Brandi Lynn Higbee and partner Stephan Rowland of Clinton MO, Wilton (Billy) Lee Higbee Jr and wife Stacey of Mexico MO, Laci Danielle Higbee of Holden MO, and Lance Todd Higbee of Columbia MO. Her 2 stepsons Mike Milburn and wife Tia from Warrensburg MO. Jeffery Milburn and wife Nikki from Macon MO. Also 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 5 sisters, 3 brothers, 5 stepsisters and 4 stepbrothers. She is proceeded in death by her parents Maurita Johnson and Bud Hummer. Her Stepfather Arnold Johnson. Her first husband Wilton (Bill) Lee Higbee Senior, her stepbrother Randy Johnson. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousin, and grandparents. Her children will be hosting a celebration of life on Saturday November 11th at The Celebration Room in Macon Missouri (32449 US-36BUS, Macon MO 63552) from 2pm to 6pm. Lana Joy Norfleet, 76 of Drakesville, Iowa formerly of Mexico, MO passed away at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, MO on Monday, November 6, 2023. She was born on April 21, 1947 in Mexico, MO to James (Jimmy) and Bernadine Wright. Lana was raised on her family farm south of Mexico, Missouri and graduated from Mexico High School in 1965. She was united in marriage on March 31, 1967 to Glenn Norfleet at the Presbyterian Church in Auxvasse, Missouri and to this union three daughters were born. They moved to Drakesville, Iowa in 2001 and continued to live on their farm until her move to the nursing home in August of 2023. Lana worked many roles in the banking industry for 25 years starting her career at the Mexico Savings Bank, Commerce Bank and Martinsburg Bank all in Mexico, Missouri. She then went on to work as a telemarketer for Brookstone Company located in Mexico. Lana retired from KMEM radio in the accounting department. Surviving is husband Glen Norfleet of Drakesville; her children Michele Sargent of Mexico, Missouri, Christy (Doug) Aylward and Lisa (Brad) Doster all of Memphis, Missouri; grandchildren Kylie (Nick) Stumpe of Centralia, Missouri, Lily Sargent of Mexico, Brock and Bryn Aylward and Abby and Laney Doster all of Memphis; two great grandchildren Cooper and Jameson Stumpe of Centralia. Lana is also survived by a sister Judy Hunt of Mexico, brother and sister in laws, Stu and Sharon Bigelow of Columbia, Missouri, Bob and Glenda Poage of Mexico, and Bruce Norfleet of Mexico, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby Ridgway

Ruby Jean Ridgway, 96, of Mexico, MO, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at The Arbors Care Facility in Mexico. Ruby was born on September 17, 1927, in Centralia, MO. , the daughter of Forrest and Cleva (Waters) Roddy. On May 16, 1948, she married William Bernard Ridgway, also of Centralia. Ruby was always known for her positive disposition, never being a complainer; her fun-loving personality, eagerness to laugh and sharing stories she loved to tell. Selfless and kind, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, not wanting to miss an opportunity to get together. She loved to work in the yard (often having a pair of clippers in hand), shelling walnuts and looking through beloved photos. Ruby was quick to tell how thrilled she was to learn God's personal name and began her study of the Bible soon afterwards. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1964 and continued as a member of the Mexico congregation until her death. She was loved by all who met her. She was the last of her siblings, preceded in death by four sisters and ten brothers. Her husband Bernard died October 14, 2015, as well as her daughter, Brenda (Joe) Wade of Belleville, MI on November 14, 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Reba (Lin) Horton of Auxvasse, MO, and sons, Ron (Cindy) Ridgway, David (Dawn) Ridgway, Paul (Theresa) Ridgway, all of Mexico, MO & Darren (Marlene) Ridgway of Boonville, MO; ten grandchildren: Brandy Prevedel, Nathan Wade, Brian Wade, Shelby Stevenson, all of Michigan. Gordon "Butch" Houf, 77, longtime resident of Mexico, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, surrounded by his family at Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, New York. He was born on June 17, 1946, in Wendell, Idaho to Harry and Betty Houf and was raised in Wellsville, Missouri. He married his beloved wife Jane Anne Holliday on January 25, 1969. She survives at their home in New York. He also leaves behind three daughters, Amy (Bill) Weber of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, Lynn (Dan) Arcuri of LaGrange Park, Illinois, and Emily (Andy Bennett) Houf of Peekskill, New York; four grandchildren, William and Jane Weber, and Elise and Grace Arcuri; and two brothers, Jim (Lillie) Houf and Danny Houf. Butch graduated from Wellsville-Middletown R1 High School in 1964, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla. After working for the Kansas Department of Transportation, he spent several years working for Green Construction Company in Al Khobar and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. In 1979, he returned to Missouri to establish Harry H. Houf and Sons Contractors with his father. Butch ran the company for many years alongside his brothers, building roads and bridges across the state of Missouri. He was a member of the Associated General Contractors of America and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Butch was known for his quiet intelligence, dry wit, and card playing abilities. He was a member of First Christian Church of Mexico and Rotary Club International, as well as a steadfast Democrat. He was an avid golfer, gardener, and collector, particularly of American Brilliant Cut glass, rocks and fossils.
