Funeral services for Sylvia will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 14 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Henderson. Visitation will be held at the church from 10-10:45am. The burial will follow and Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson, TX. "

"Ethel Earlene Pettigrew Winkfein, 98, of Longview, TX, passed away November 30, 2023, at her home in Longview. She was born February 23, 1925, in Horatio, Arkansas to Alonzo and Ethel Milwee Pettigrew. Imagine the life that she has led, from growing up on a small farm in Horatio, Arkansas and going to town by a horse-drawn wagon and growing up in the great depression. Earlene went to work at the age of 17 at the Red River Munitions Depot and worked there until the start of World War II when she joined the Woman's Army Auxillary Corps. While in the service, she was stationed at William Beaumont General Hospital in El Paso, Harmon General Hospital in Longview, and Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. After being discharged from the service, and while waiting on her fiance to return from serving in Japan, Earlene accepted an opportunity to attend flight school. While in training, she was able to fly solo a couple of times. She decided to leave flight school to marry her true love, Peter John Winkfein, and the two were married June 3, 1947, in Texarkana, Arkansas. She served as a cafeteria manager for Rockwall ISD during the 1970s-80s. While raising her children in Rockwall, she was very active in the church's activities. She enjoyed a long and fruitful retirement, doing various crafts, working puzzle books. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by her children: Pete Winkfein, Jr of Sachse, Sue Winkfein Coleman of Longview, Larry Winkfein and wife Winnie of Fort Worth, Jeff Winkfein and wife Freda of Rowlett, and Tim Winkfein and wife Ronda of Scroggins; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as a number of extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peter J. Winkfein Sr. November 11, 2017; son-in-law: Phil Coleman; and daughter-in-law: Linda Winkfein; as well as all of her siblings. A service to celebrate her life will be at 1:00 p. m on Monday, December 4, 2023 in the chapel of Rest Haven Funeral Home, 2500 TX-66 East, Rockwall, TX with Rev. Bill Necessary officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Rhaunal Carl Williams, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 29, 2023, in Longview, Texas. He was born on March 27, 1944, in Gilmer, Texas to Herman and Nora Juanita Williams. Rhaunal was well-known for his kind heart and friendly nature. Rhaunal served his country with honor and dedication as a member of the 212th K-9 unit in the Army. He bravely fought for the freedom we all cherish. His military service defined his character and instilled in him a strong sense of duty. Outside of his military service, Rhaunal had a deep passion for his family. He cherished every moment spent with them and created everlasting memories. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Earnestean Williams; son Donald Williams (Vikki) of Gilmer; daughter Miranda Loyd (James Jr) of Gilmer; brothers: L. D. Williams (Marilyn) of Gilmer; Billy Williams of Gilmer; Ricky Williams (Sherry) of Gilmer; sister Hulene Musick of Gilmer; 5 grandchildren Chelsey Davis (Tyler), Morgan Randolph (Patrick), Shelby Smith (Nick), Jacob Boothe, and Zaydi Loyd. Rhaunal's face would light up with pride whenever he was surrounded by the laughter and love of his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. Rhaunal had the pleasure of witnessing six great-grandchildren: Cambree, Riley, Carson, Hunter, Isabelle, and Stetson, he adored each of them. Aside from his dedication to family, Rhaunal had several hobbies that include spending time outdoors camping, fishing and enjoyed attending church services. There will be a visitation Saturday, December 2, 2023, starting at 12:00pm at Concord Baptist Church, following the visitation, there will be a funeral service at Concord Baptist Church in Gilmer starting at 1:00pm with Brother Clay Potter officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Concord Baptist Church.Show more
