Sandra (Sandy) Edwards of South Bend, Indiana was healed into the arms of Jesus, on December 7, 2023. Sandy lived a full life in which she demonstrated a true love of family, friends and God. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Sandra was born to Georgia and Howard Sherk on November 29, 1942 in Bremen, Indiana. She graduated from Madison Township High School in 1962 and married her beloved Charles David Edwards on January 15, 1965. Her family was of utmost importance to her as she and Chuck faithfully and together raised their two children, Sheila and Thomas. They opened their home to foreign exchange students and fondly remember Susana and Clara. She leaves as her loving legacy, two children, Sheila (Mark) Pippenger and Thomas (Julie) Edwards; her dearly loved grandchildren, Michelle (James) Badics, Michael (Maggie) Pippenger, Mitchell Pippenger, Montana (Tomas) Johanson, Matthew Pippenger, Mason Pippenger, Micah Pippenger, Megan Pippenger, and Cade Edwards; great-grandchildren, Nora, Harper and Zoey Badics, Watson and Georgia Pippenger; her beloved sister, and next door neighbor, Marsha (Uri Sr. ) Castillo; her brother, Thomas (Eileen) Sherk; and sister-in-law, Carol Sherk who all graciously and closely cared for her as her health declined. Sandra also leaves many nieces and nephews and treasured friends and extended family. Sandra was predecded by her beloved husband, Charles in October of 1993; her parents, and four siblings; Robert Sherk, Doris Hall, Patricia Weaver, and Gerald Sherk, Sr. . She was also preceded by her brothers-in-law; Gerald Hall and Devon Weaver; and her grandson, Wyatt Edwards. The family would like to express our appreciation to her Fairington Circle friends for keeping tabs on Sandy and gratitude to the Center for Hospice Care for their guidance during her declining health. Sandy's memory will forever be cherished by her family, extended family and friends whose lives she touched with her love, care and dedication. Please join us in celebrating the life of Sandra Kay Edwards as were are grateful for the blessing she was to everyone that knew her at South Side Baptist Church, 1130 Jackson Rd. , South Bend, IN on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 11:00 am. James Jay Thomas Sr. , Affectionately known as JJ, departed this physical world on November 30, 2023. Born on December 9, 1981, in South Bend, Indiana, he was a pillar of strength, a beacon of hope, and a symbol of unwavering faith in his community. A warm, supportive soul, he was always thoughtful, ready to lend an ear or extend a helping hand to anyone in need. His faith was the compass that guided him through life. James spent his fruitful life of 41 years in the heart of Indiana, moving between South Bend and Mishawaka. The janitorial field was his chosen profession, a testament to his generous spirit and his belief in the dignity of labor. His work was not simply about cleanliness but making spaces inviting and comfortable for others. He was never married but was a loving father to his three children and a caring brother to his siblings. His life was a beautiful tapestry of love, service, and faith, and he was a living example. James leaves behind his devoted Parents James Thomas (Loretta) and Florence Blanks his loving siblings, Anisha (Marcus) Wells, Quantina Townsend, and Edward (Lakysha) Thomas, and his cherished children, I'jaha Thomas, James Thomas, and Eriyanna Robinson-Thomas. He also leaves behind a special friend Alayna Brooks. James was preceded in death by his brother Richard Hardy and his grandparents Richard and Sarah Alexander, and Ernestine and Roosevelt Thomas.
