Sylvia Damiani Obituary

Sylvia Damiani was born August 23. 1925 and died peacefully on April 16, 2023 at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank and her youngest son, John. She had a memorable life having been raised on a farm in West Virginia with her 3 sisters and 2 brothers. At the age of 17 she moved to Ohio and started working in a steel mill. While there she took an interest in sewing and took lessons in the evenings. She met her husband in 1946 and shortly thereafter were married. They traveled around the country since Frank was in the army and was stationed at several bases. They moved to Oregon in the early 50's and started raising a family. Eventually they had six children. Her love of sewing led to her creation of many hand-quilted quilts. A few times she was asked to teach quilting to the high school that her daughters attended. She often made costumes for the high school play that the girls attended. She loved to rehab houses and personally bought several. She especially loved to play cards and her children were taught to play many games and often brought their friends home for an evening of cards. She is the mother of six, grandmother of 12, great-grandmother of 10, and great great-grandmother of 1. She lived a long and creative life and was an inspiration to many. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, April 25th from 9:00 - 4:00. Services will begin with a rosary at 11:00 on Wednesday, April 26th with her funeral service to follow at 11:30 at Holman's Funeral Service.
