NELSON, Suzanne M. - Of Flint, age 66, died Friday, October 6, 2023 at MediLodge of Grand Blanc. Funeral service will be held 12pm Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Visitation 11am Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Suzanne was born in Marlette, Michigan on April 6, 1957, the daughter of the late Eugene E. and Dorothy M. (Cameron) Moore. On May 21, 1977 she married Daniel Nelson in Flint and they were married for 25 years. Suzanne worked at Carmen Ainsworth Schools for 15 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Surviving are daughters, Nicole Nelson, Danielle Nelson; grandson, Connor Lund; sisters, Debra Moore, DeAnn (Terry) Kloc and Sherry Moore; and nephews, TJ and Dakota Kloc. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Eugene.

Sharon Kay Brown, age 82, of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Sharon was born on May 27, 1941, to the late Charles and Thelma Nye in Flint, Michigan. Sharon graduated from Kersley High School. While growing up Sharon was a member of Jobs daughters. She attended Mott Community College to study social work until she was in an auto accident. Taking her mother's life and leaving Sharon in a coma for 28 days. She was married for 16 years to Arnold R. Eick and had two Daughters. Sharon was neighborhood chairman of the Girls Scouts in Grand Blanc while her daughters grew up. She enjoyed her work with the organization. Sharon later became Director of the Blessing Shop at Faith Tabernacle, where she was a member. She helped the needy with clothing and referrals to other agencies. She was passionate about helping others. In 1982 she married her late husband Thomas Edward Brown, who passed away in 2002. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Ed Brown. Sharon always missed her mother deeply and would always say "Everyone loved Mama". Now she gets to be with her again. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Rob) Joseph; 3 grandsons; 1 great-granddaughter and 3 great-grandsons; sister Beverly (Tyrone) Goodart; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Brown, and daughter Carol (Gustovo) Montellanos Per Sharon's wishes, private family services have been held and Sharon has been laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc, Michigan.Show more

Bonnie Wilks Aukema passed from this world to her eternal home on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital surrounded by many of her beloved family. She and her husband, Art along with their children worked side by side for many years building a successful dairy farm. She and Art were partners in everything from establishing and running the farm, to raising, educating and parenting five children. In addition, they were involved in the restaurant business and a retail clothing store at one time. Of all their accomplishments, they were most proud that all five children were college graduates with three having earned advanced degrees. Bonnie loved people and had many friends in this area as well as in Montana where they maintained a second home for over 30 years. Bonnie loved her church, First Methodist Church of Chipley. She passionately supported her church with her tithe, her membership in Methodist Women and participated in all church activities. She especially enjoyed the revivals of the 1950s, '60s and '70s. Many times she lamented that the church had not had a revival for many years. She is predeceased by her husband Arthur Aukema who passed in 2011. She was born in the Richter Community, March 5, 1930 to James A. and Estell Wilks and Bonnie was the youngest of 13 siblings who predeceased her: Broward, Clifton, Viola, Iola, Lycurgus, Boyd, Malcolm, Orien, Harvis, Earl, Effie Davis, Hazel Watts and Annie Hutchins. She was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law, John and Nelson Aukema and sisters-in-law Hilda Aukema and Elsie Heyboer. She is survived by brother-in-law Mark Aukema and sisters-in-law Gracie Hutt and Noreen Aukema. Left to mourn her passing are her four remaining children, Ann Hanson (Harvey), Robert "bobby" Aukema (Sharon), Patricia "Patsy" Dickson (Buddy) and Gary Aukema (Karen), eleven grandchildren (Leighan, Tara, Chris, Jay, Ryan, Kelly, Mani, Mitzi, Lacey, Kacey and Kenzey, 18 great-grandchildren, and a veritable host of nieces and nephews. The family sends words of thanks and much appreciation to the 3rd floor staff at Northwest Florida Community Hospital and Emerald Coast Hospice and very special care givers, Sandy Dunnivan and Ann Collins. The kindness, love and attention that each of you showered upon our mother will always be fondly remembered. Services will be Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the First Methodist Church of Chipley at 11:00 A. M. with Visitation at 10:00 A. M. Interment will be at Glenwood Cemetery following the services.
