Susan Cairns McGough, 96, of Fairmount, passed away Friday at home. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, she moved to the Syracuse area in 1957. Susan was a 1945 graduate of West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Girls and attended Haverford College. She was employed as a library clerk at Onondaga Central Library, retiring in 2009. Previously, in the late 1970s, she was the manager at Fabric Tree. A communicant of Holy Family Church for 66 years, Susan was a Eucharistic minister and religious education teacher for 14 years. She also held many positions with the Altar & Rosary Society, including president, and was a member of the Adoration Society. Susan volunteered with the Jail Ministry of Onondaga County with her husband, Tom. Together, they were also original shareholders in the construction of Bishop Ludden High School. She enjoyed cooking and won culinary awards at the NYS Fair and Post Standard. Susan was predeceased by her husband, Thomas in 1980; son, Thomas in 2009; parents, Elizabeth and John Cairns; and sisters, Elizabeth (William) Bell and Theresa Donovan. Surviving are her daughters, MarySusan McGough of Fairmount, Elizabeth (Scott) MacKenzie of Baldwinsville and Margaret (John) Seiter of Syracuse; sons, John (Helen) of North Syracuse, Peter (Phillip Ramus) of New York City, and Timothy (Grace) of Prince Frederick, MD; daughter-in-law, Charlene McGough of North Syracuse; grandchildren, Lucas, Joshua (Joanna), and Paul (Samantha Battle) McGough, Eve Seiter, Cassandra (Leigh Kellogg) McGough, Matthew, MacKenzie and Madison McGough, Connie (Chris) Paventy and Stephanie (Collin) Firenze; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Roman, Junie, Sophia, Silvio, Louis, Allysa and Uliana; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, September 13 from 4 to 6 p. m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St. , Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 14 at 10 a. m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr. , Syracuse. Susan will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, West Consohocken, PA. Michael Edward Kessler, 69, of Camillus, passed away Monday, peacefully at home after a year-long battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary High School and the Central New York Police Academy. Upon completing his education, he pursued his passion for justice by joining the Syracuse Police Department. In 1975, Mike's commitment to public service was recognized as he became the youngest among the 500 sworn-in officers. Throughout his career, he ascended to the rank of detective and was highly regarded for his exemplary service. His unwavering dedication earned him numerous commendations, including the prestigious Medal of Valor. Following his retirement in 2001, Mike embarked on a new chapter of his life, dedicating the next 15 years to Constellation Energy. An avid golfer, he was an SU football season ticket holder and a lifelong Red Sox fan. Additionally, he took immense pride in caring for his family and home, often seen meticulously manicuring his lawn or giving his car a sparkling shine. Mike was predeceased by his father and stepmother, Warren and Janet Kessler; mother and stepfather, Eileen and Robert Vallee; brother, William; brother-in-law, David Maley; sister-in-law, Deborah Massey; and his beloved bulldog and only son, Earl Theodore Kessler. Surviving are his wife, high school sweetheart and best friend of 51 years, the former Catherine Ennis; daughters, Kerrie (Sean) Coakley, Michelle Starowicz, and Katie (Chris) Becktoft; precious grandchildren, Jack and Brynn Coakley, Michael, Stella and Charlotte Starowicz, and Skylar Becktoft; grand dogs, Alex, Rosie, and Hudson; sisters, Cynthia Kessler Fairbank, Christine Vallee, and Bobbie (Daniel) Klein; and brother, Timothy (Carolyn) Vallee. He also leaves behind a big Irish family, several wonderful in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Our family has been humbled by the outpouring of love and support over the past year from our lifelong friends, neighbors, and coworkers. There are no words to express our gratitude. We are at peace knowing Mike is reunited with his brother, Billy, whom he's missed dearly for 52 years and is up in Heaven sharing a cold one with his father-in-law, Bill, and Uncle John. "Linda (Balduzzi) Gomes, of Camillus, NY, passed away peacefully November 18, 2023. Born in Solvay, NY to the late Clement and Maria (Santos) Balduzzi, she graduated from Solvay High School and got her Bachelor's degree from Columbia University. She worked in administration at the Syracuse VA Hospital where she retired after 41 years. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially at her camp in Thendara, NY. Her favorite pastimes were playing slots at the casino and cards at the camp. It reminded her of many good times with her parents. She carried on the traditions of making frog legs and roasted chicken over the old stove while her husband mastered the polenta over an open campfire. The woods were always heaven on earth to her and she will forever be a part of her favorite place. She was an avid traveler and had a zest for life. Some of her favorite places to travel were Brazil, Italy, and Florida. She defied medical expectations and was the strongest woman. Despite chemotherapy, she went zip lining on a recent cruise and had a blast. She was spontaneous and always up for the next adventure, even when it was last minute. She was a kind and generous person who was always there for her family. She will be missed dearly. Linda is survived by her husband of 46 years, Alberto Gomes; her children, Michael (Maria) Gomes, and Jessica (Matthew) Cupido; her beloved grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Gomes, Isabella and Leonardo Cupido; her Uncle Arthur (Carol) Santos and cousins, Michelle (Mark) Bouchard and Mark (Cheryl) Santos. David Nicholas Kaminski, 65, of Camillus, passed away Friday at St. Joseph’s Health Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he was a lifetime resident of the Camillus area, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, service, and love. David was a cherished member of the Westvale Golf Club, where his passion for the sport and warm camaraderie enriched the lives of his fellow club members. His friendly demeanor and love for the game created lasting bonds that extended beyond the golf course, defining him as a true friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Beyond the golf greens, David was a dedicated coach for the St. Joseph's Church CYO JV basketball team, where he imparted not only his knowledge of the game but also valuable life lessons to his players. His coaching went beyond the court, instilling in his athletes the values of teamwork, perseverance, and integrity. David's impact on the young athletes extended to the baseball field as well, where he selflessly volunteered his time to coach for the West Genesee Athletics Club’s baseball program, leaving an indelible mark on the community's sporting spirit. David Nicholas Kaminski will be remembered not only for his athletic prowess and coaching acumen but also for his kindness, generosity, and the genuine care he showed for everyone around him. His legacy will live on in the memories of those he touched, both on and off the field. David is predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Elizabeth; and son, Mark. Susan J. Ingersoll, 76, of Camillus, passed away Thursday at home. Born in Schenectady on July 24, 1947, she was the daughter of the late John and Beatrice Higgins. Susan graduated from Linton High School in Schenectady and SUNY Oswego. She lived in the Camillus area since 1975 and retired in 2005 after 35 years with Sysco Food Services. Outside of her career, Susan found fulfillment in contributing to her community by volunteering at Maxwell Memorial Library, enriching the lives of countless individuals through her love of literature. An avid reader, she was a member of the Between the Lines Book Club and relished the opportunity to engage in lively discussions about literary works. Additionally, Susan selflessly served her community by working with the Board of Elections for five years as an election inspector. She treasured her time spent traveling, discovering new places, and embracing different cultures. Susan’s sharp mind enjoyed the challenge of puzzles, and she had a keen eye for antiquing, always discovering hidden treasures. Yet, her greatest joy came from the companionship of her beloved pets, who provided unwavering love and comfort throughout her life. ngtime volunteer with Maxwell Memorial Library, she was also a member of the Between the Lines Book Club and worked five years with the Board of Elections as an election inspector. Robert "Bob" Vincent Manning Jr. , 92, of Camillus, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. Born in Newton Center, MA, to the late Robert and Margaret Manning, he was a 1953 graduate of Boston College with a degree in finance where he also played baseball as their shortstop. After graduation, Bob served two years in the U. S. Army before his marriage to his wife, Sally, for 54 wonderful years. He worked his entire career at General Electric as the manager of finance, retiring in 1992. During his career, Bob traveled the world and always brought home gifts from abroad for his children. He was an avid golfer at Bellevue Country Club, as well as a daily walker of the Erie Canal. Bob could also be found fishing with Sally in various locations around Central New York. He enjoyed many sports, including baseball and hockey, but he especially loved watching all the sports his children and grandchildren were involved in. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, Sally, on July 4, 2014; grandson, Brian Jacob; and sisters, Kay lcardi and Margaret Saunders. Anthony Rodolico, a dedicated husband, loving father, and doting grandfather, passed away Wednesday at home, at the age of 83. Born and raised in Brooklyn, his journey brought him to various places, including Long Island, West Virginia, and New Jersey. In 2015, Anthony finally found solace in Camillus, where he embraced the warmth of a close-knit community. A graduate of the East New York Vocational High School, he held the position of electronics manager with Northrop Grumman for over 30 years before retiring in 1996. Anthony embraced various hobbies with great enthusiasm. A skilled craftsman, he found fulfillment in furniture making, woodworking, and nurturing his bountiful garden. However, Anthony's true joy and happiness resided within his family. He treasured each moment he spent with his wife of 63 years, Regina, and their children. A caring and proud grandfather, he delighted in the presence of his beloved grandchildren. Anthony was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Margaret; and sisters, Catherine Delaney and Barbara Goldberg. Ruth "Ann" Ohl, 90, of Camillus, died on Saturday, October 21, 2023, following a brief illness. Born in Johnstown, PA, on Christmas Day of 1932, she attended Johnstown High School and Lock Haven State College’s nursing program. Ann completed her training to be a registered nurse at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and moved to the Syracuse area in 1954. She deeply enjoyed her work as a nurse and spent 58 years working primarily in family care medicine. Ann began her career at the Hospital of Good Shepherd in Syracuse and went on to work with family physicians, Doctors Bluto and Palmer, in Camillus. She later joined the Family Care Medical Group in Camillus, where she worked alongside Dr. Henry Schoeneck for over 20 years. As a longstanding member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church, Ann served on various committees and sang in the church’s choir. She also belonged to the Camillus Garden Club. Her other hobbies included reading, baking, knitting, and listening to classical music. Ann was predeceased by her parents, Wilmer Dean and Gladys Lambert Smouse; and sister, Jane Smouse Gramling. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Clyde of Camillus; daughter, Debra (Ira Coleman) Hurley of Skaneateles; son, David (Barbara) Ohl of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Connor Hurley of New York City, Rachel (John Thomas) Hurley Kearney of Boston, MA, and Dylan (Sara) Ohl of Lakeland, FL; and two great-granddaughters, Sofia and Addison Ohl. Ann's greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with them, particularly during the holidays, and delighted in baking them delicious pies and her famous chocolate chip cookies.
