Sue Marie Gersch, 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Sue was born to Janet (Anderson) and Gerald Facklam, January 17, 1959. She went to Frank B. Kellogg schools as a child and graduated in the class of 1977. After graduating Sue attended Cosmetology School at 916 Vo-tech. Sue went with her friend Kathy on a waterskiing trip to Beaver Dam Lake in Cumberland, Wisconsin, where she met Joseph Gersch, whom she would go on to marry on September 12, 1987. They moved to Aurora, Colorado. While there, together, they welcomed three sons. Following a separation Sue and her sons moved to West Salem, Wisconsin, which brought her and her sons closer to both sides of families - West Salem and St. Paul, Minnesota. Sue remained in West Salem until the summer of 2008 as she raised her three boys and eagerly participated in each of their school activities and sports. She loved her newest and greatest tech devices and brought her big camera setup to all Cross Country, Ski Racing, and Track meets to capture every moment with no exception. After being a stay-at-home parent, in 2008 she returned to the work force. At this point she moved back to the St. Paul area to be closer to her family. Sue always had a passion for good food, be it baking or cooking something tasty, or going to a nice restaurant. She loved to follow TV shows and would keep up with the latest news on various celebrities, fashions, and technologies. She also kept close tabs on her favorite sports team, the Minnesota Vikings of course, all the Olympics, and Cirque Du Soleil. She sincerely enjoyed traveling and France was her favorite. She always was ready to take a picture to capture every moment in life. Sue is survived by her three children: Steve and wife, Iona (Batista) - grandsons, Stephan, Shawn, and Scott; Zach and wife Lisa (Barnard); Alex (significant other - Maddison Wiggins); sister, Cheryl (Tarry) Morse; brother, Mike Facklam (Malinda Thorbus) - nieces, Stephanie and Katherine; brother, Tim Facklam - children, TJ, Izabel, Eliza. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Gerald Facklam and Janet (Anderson) Facklam and her infant brother Steven Facklam A funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, October 14, 2023, at The Heights Church, 1845 Hyacinth Ave E, St Paul, MN 55119. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Following the Service, lunch will be served.

Shirley (nee Knecht) Rauch, 89 Passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023, at Mercy hospital in Anoka, Minnesota. She was born on March 07, 1934 to the late Joseph and Jennie (Drining) Knecht. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Rauch "Bob", Dear mother of Diane Rauch New and Robert R. (Leslie) Rauch. She is also survived by her sibling Gerry (Ed) Davis, grandmother of Stacey (Andy)Dallmann, Scott New, Johnathon (Tina) New, Brendon Rauch, Mackenzie Rauch and Zach Rauch, Dear Great Grandmother of Enda Dallmann and Matthew New. various nieces, nephews and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by sibling: Jeanette Rickman, and Dorothy McCarthy. Shirley attended Cleveland Highschool in her youth, where she formed lasting friendships and cherished memories. Natalie Schied

Age - 90

Natalie was born to Ralph and Grace Doud amidst fireworks on the 4th of July, 1933 in Midland SD. She attended school in Midland and met the love of her life, Dick Schied, while waitressing at the local cafe in 1949. They married shortly after and rarely spent a moment apart in the 70+ years they were together, until Dick's passing in 2020. She was a field hand, farmer, rancher, trucker, cook, and real estate agent/owner but probably most proud of her gardening accomplishments; her tomatoes were memorialized in a magazine article while she and Dick were living on the shores of the mighty Mississippi River near Bemidji MN. They retired in their 50s and lived in Arizona but never stayed in one place long, traveling the country and visiting family and friends was their greatest joy. Although they had no children of their own, they were beloved by numerous nieces and nephews. Natalie spent her final years being so well cared for by the loving staff at Serenity Living in Blackduck. Her humor, her gentleness, her intelligence and her mischievous smile will never be forgotten. . . we know her Lord God and all her family who have gone on before are now enjoying all she is, and more, once again. A private memorial service will take place during the summer of 2024 in South Dakota.Show more

Dinah Powell

Age - 76

Dinah Christine Powell, age 76, of LaPorte, MN formerly of Anoka, MN, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from the Cuyuna Regional Hospital in Crosby, MN. She was born on July 4, 1947, in Rochester, NY, the daughter of Alberta Rose (Mullaney) and Cyril Schaub. Dinah retired from Anoka Senior High School. She enjoyed the wildlife up north, feeding her critters and keeping track of the deer. She was very sociable, and a friend to everyone. After her husband's passing, she kept busy by going out with the Red Hat Ladies. When Dinah was feeling up to it, she was lucky playing in cribbage tournaments at the Legion. She enjoyed running into her friends on "senior day" at the casino. When Dinah was at home, she was busy reading, keeping a spic & span clean house, and "liking" everything on Facebook. Despite her small size, Dinah enjoyed eating good food and going out to eat at Campaneros Restaurant in Dorset, MN. She had some success with gardening and growing tomatoes. She had a love for music, especially if her family was playing for her. Most of all, Dinah will be remembered for the love she shared, and how she enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. Dinah is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Cyril Schaub; husband, Neil F. Powell; and brother, Greg. Dinah is survived by her children, Tony, Jody (Tom) Wilson, Neil, Amber (Willie) Bentley; grandchildren, Brandon Powell, Josh (Dara) Powell, Jessie (Tay) Powell, John Wilson, Theresa Wilson, Amanda Bentley, Grace Bentley; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Jack Powell, Greta and Darwin Bentley. A Celebration of Life for Dinah will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 12:00 p. m. at Northern Peace Funeral Home in Walker, MN. Pastor John Rister will officiate. Dale Carl Halberg, age 92, of Anoka, Minnesota passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023. He was born October 7, 1931 in Braham, MN, to Albert and Anna Halberg. Dale is preceded in passing by his parents, Albert and Anna; brother, Harold, and twin brother, Dean; daughter, Jan Evans; grandsons, Mark Evans and Jordan Halberg; and granddaughter, Laura Evans. Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Shirley; son, Sheldon (Kim) Halberg; son-in-law, Douglas Evans; grandchildren, Carl (Janna) and Peter (Sarah) Halberg, and Mike (Terese) and Matt (fiancee, Kelly) Evans; great-grandsons, Peyton and Emmett Halberg, Kaleb Evans; and 1 great-granddaughter, Oliviana Halberg. Dale graduated from Braham High School in 1949. He joined the Army in 1950 and he fought in the Korean War, where he was wounded in January of 1951. He was discharged May 7, 1953 and married May 15, 1953. Dale was a long time employee of Minnegasco. He retired in 1987 at age 55, and moved to Grand Rapids, MN where he built the house of his dreams on Pug Hole Lake. They lived there for 12 years before moving to Elk River, MN.
