November 29, 2023

On Monday, November 27, William (Bill) Joseph O'Loughlin, 76, a beloved husband and father passed away peacefully in his sleep. Bill was born in Greenwich Village, NY, on March 6, 1947, son of William T. and Agnes (Forrest) O'Loughlin. He is survived by his spouse of 54 years, Patricia, and their three children, William Patrick and his wife Deana, of Roswell, GA and grandson William Robert; Christopher and his wife Heather, of New Milford, CT and their three children Garrett, Regan and Shaine and daughter, Jennifer of New York, NY. He is also survived by his eight siblings and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bill grew up in Yonkers, NY, the oldest of nine. He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY. After attending Biscayne College in Miami Gardens, Florida, Bill joined the United States Air Force and served his country as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971. Prior to retirement, Bill was an executive at Pitney Bowes in Stamford for 20+ years. Bill was a very hard working, reserved, and loyal person who was always the provider. Whether it was big news or small, someone in need or just wanted to help, Bill quietly provided. Loyal to his family and friends, Bill was always someone you could count on. He was extremely proud of his family and especially his grandkids. Their "Papa," always wanted to attend their events, cheer them on, support their causes, give some real life advice and provide them the spoiling that every grandkid deserves. And he loved every minute of it. When he wasn't supporting his grandkids, you could find him volunteering his services as a member of the Board where they lived at Carlson's Ridge Community. He retired as President and then re-enlisted in 2023 before he was unable to continue. As an avid golfer, you could have also found him playing golf with his group of buddies two times a week over at Candlewood Valley Country Club. Something he very much looked forward to every week. Visitation is scheduled for 3pm - 7pm on Thursday, November 30th at Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford. The funeral mass will take place at 10am directly at St. Francis Xavier Church on Friday December 1st in New Milford, followed by graveside service at Gate of Heaven in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Center for Comfort Care & Healing, 30 Milestone Rd. Danbury, CT 06810, a place where Bill was graciously cared for.Show more
