OPELOUSAS ~ Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 at a 2:00 p. m. Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington for Susan Hebert Castille, age 70, who passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 3, 2023. The Rev. Matthew Higginbotham, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, will officiate at the services. Susan was a native of Washington, lived in Opelousas, and then raised her family in New Roads for 35 years before settling back in Washington. She was employed as a bookkeeper with St. Landry Parish School Board, Catholic of Pointe Coupee, and Merrick & Hogan in New Roads and most recently Pickett and Company CPA. Susan took pride in her work, enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, reading a good book, planting flowers and nothing more than cuddling with her four grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Alton Castille of Washington; two sons, Brandon Castille and wife, Amanda, of Dallas, TX and Lance Castille and wife, Keisha, of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Joseph Castille, John Michael Castille, Ethan Castille and Zoe Castille; her mother, Helen Ortego Hebert; one brother, Johnny Hebert of Garland; four sisters, Sheila Carriere, Rhonda Bordelon and Jill Soileau and husband, Jim, all of Opelousas, Karen Ducote and husband, Ricky, of Washington; and two sisters-in-laws, Betty Lavergne and husband, Dale, and Cathy Ledoux and husband, Charlie, all of Opelousas. She was preceded in death by her father, Herman John Hebert. A rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a. m. in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Thursday from 10:00 a. m. until 1:30 p. m. at Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas. Pallbearers will be Brandon Castille, Joseph Castille, Lance Castille, Ethan Castille, Ryan Lavergne and Johnny Hebert. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Alexander Jamall Louis, who gained his wings on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the tender age of 8 years old. Musical selections will be provided by Mercedes Major. Alexander was a native and resident of Sunset. Although his time on earth was short, he left a lasting impression with his contagious smile and laughter. The everyday things we tend to take for granted meant so much to Alexander and he spread a great amount of happiness to his family. When he would hear "Ace Boogie" he would smile from ear to ear with pure excitement. Watching the lights on the television and visiting with his family brought him so much joy. Alexander was always so happy and his bright smile will be tremendously missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Liturgy of the word in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Walter Stephen McCready, age 76, who passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Garden View Assisted Living in Lafayette. The Msgr. Jefferson DeBlanc, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Musical selections will be Ave Maria, On Eagle's Wings, Go Rest High On That Mountain, and Amazing Grace. Walter was a long - time native and resident of Lafayette. A devout Catholic he enjoyed attending mass at both St. Pius X Catholic Church and St. Mary Catholic Church and in his spare time he would read and study his bible. A veteran of the military, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed reading about history and learning about his family genealogy. An avid outdoorsman he loved watching football, hunting, fishing, and certainly enjoyed a good home cooked meal. Walter was a proud father, grandfather, and brother, and took great pride in his family. Survivors include one son, Christopher James McCready and his wife, Nannette; two daughters, Stephanie McCready Buchholz and her husband, David, and Catherine Anne McCready; three grandchildren, Cade Michael Buchholz, Caitlyn Michel' Buchholz, and Grayson James McCready; three sisters, Phyllis Authement and her husband, Patrick, Cindy Trahan and her husband, Ronnie, and Amie Clark; the mother of his children and life long friend, Sonja Champion McCready; two brothers in law, Nolan Vice and Bob Irwin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert Junior McCready and the former Vivian Marie Schexnayder; four sisters, LeeAnn Vice, Linda Irwin, Margret McCready, and infant Diane McCready. BREAUX BRIDGE ~ A small intimate family memorial service will be held at a later date for Raymond Tauzin, age 87, who passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 at his residence in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Tauzin was a native and lifelong resident of Breaux Bridge. He was a successful salesman for twenty years with various companies. He began his career in sales with Abdalla's in the shoe department, sold cars at Pontiac Point, and two local Breaux Bridge Grocer's. During his tenure, he also drove pipeline trucks. From a young age, Raymond's true passion was playing music - country with a Cajun swing to it. He started the Raymond Tauzin Band from the early 60's to 1972, and during that time, published approximately ten records. As a talented musician, Raymond played and wrote music for many local events, including playing for Governor McKeton at the LSU Assembly Center. His favorite songs were Fais L'Amour dans Poulailler Raymond Tauzin, and La Plus Belle Valse de Louisianne. Raymond had a larger-than-life personality, making others laugh with his jokes was his specialty. His music, zest for life, and caring heart will be greatly missed by the many lives he has touched. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who love him most. Survivors include three sons, Clint Louis Tauzin of Breaux Bridge, Cory James Tauzin and his wife, Monica Landry Tauzin, of Breaux Bridge, and Doyle Tauzin and his wife, Lisa Guidry Tauzin, of Carencro; one daughter, Lisa Ann Tauzin of Breaux Bridge; nine grandchildren, Brittany Tauzin Smith and her husband, Marcus, Cody Tauzin, Jordan Calhoun, Camdyn Hebert, Cole Tauzin, Jacob Tauzin, Caleb Tauzin, Dustin LeBlanc and his wife Alison Sonnier LeBlanc, and Brooke LeBlanc Jordan and her husband, Joshua; seven great grandchildren, Emily Smith, Olivia Smith, Liam Tauzin, Hunter LeBlanc, Kamryn LeBlanc, James Jordan and Jagger Jordan; and one sister, Druscilla Frederick of Breaux Bridge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Guidry Tauzin; his parents, Despalier Tauzin and the former Edith Kidder; and three brothers, James "Jim" Tauzin, Hayward Tauzin, and an infant brother. CARENCRO ~ Memorial services will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 at 11:00 a. m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Frederick Holt Mead, age 66, who passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Graveside service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 a. m. in Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA. Holt was a native of Monroe and lived in several different places growing up. His dad was a Methodist minister in the Louisiana conference so they moved frequently throughout his childhood. He vowed to stay in one house when he married his wife, Susan, after all the moving in his youth but they actually moved to a new home 20 times in the course of their 44-year marriage. Though there was much change in scenery over the years, the one thing that remained true was that home was always wherever they could be together. At 25 years old, Holt was promoted to Chief Estimator at Roger's O'Brien Construction Company, making him the youngest Chief Estimator in the Dallas Fort Worth area. He successfully negotiated the building contracts for many projects over the years including Harrah's Casino Hotel in New Orleans, and the Dolphin and Swan Hotels at Disney World. Holt and Susan were members of Crossroads Church in Lafayette. They were very fortunate to have the opportunity to travel the world together, making memories in Uganda, Kenya, Malawi and Hawaii, among other places. Holt was able to share in the magic of Disneyworld this year with not only his wife but his son, daughter-in-law and precious baby granddaughter, Elliott Claire. Survivors include his loving wife, Susan Burfoot Mead of Carencro; one son, Matthew Alexander Mead and wife, Lyndsey, of Carencro; one granddaughter, and Elliott Claire Mead. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Anthony Mead whom passed away on the same day 27 years ago, December 1, 1996, and the former Margaret Proffitt; one son, Kyle Wilson Mead; and one sister, Margaret Wrenette Whartenby. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Vivian Richard, age 84, who passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Ochsner St. Mary Hospital in Morgan City. Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Travis Abadie, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Mrs. Richard was a native of Arnaudville and a resident of Morgan City. A devout Catholic, she prayed the rosary every night. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, going to the casino, crocheting, watching The Price is Right and her soap operas, spending time at the hunting camp and drinking a cold one. Spending time with her kids and grandchildren was her favorite. She will be greatly missed. SUNSET ~ Funeral services are pending for Aubree Grace Foreman, age 16, who passed away into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at her residence in Sunset. Aubree Grace Foreman was born on October 6, 2007, celebrating her 16th birthday this year. She attended Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy where she was actively involved and enjoyed helping for various events. She was a scholar, a shining light for her peers, and radiated love!Aubree played an integral role in spotlighting various organizations throughout the community and advocated for the Fill the Boot Foundation to support our heroes. She was a local Good Will Ambassador for the MDA and a Shamrock Ambassador - a position which allowed her to travel to many MDA events. She had an admirable respect for those in uniform and was an honorary Lafayette Marshall Officer, an Honorary Junior Fire Fighter with Station 13, and an honorary black belt with Daigle's ATA. Officer Aubree aspired to become a 911 dispatcher to be able to help others in need. Aubree's goal was to spread awareness and through this beautiful soul, many lives have been touched and will continue to be touched through her legacy. She was an extraordinary little girl that was adored by everyone she came in contact with. She just had this special aura about her that was loved by all and will be missed by many.
